I guess a follow up question would be is it possible for your endo to write a prescription or some way document their approval for your use of it to "ok" it? (Wouldn't use without their "go ahead", but if you don't need a prescription to buy it, then having the Dr. write a prescription for it doesn't really mean anything.)

@Cooljoe04_twitter Why not just set a google alert and get it when it is available here? I'm pretty sure they've said they expect approval by the end of the year. Very un-"we are not waiting" of me, but it should be in the US pretty soon.

@live4sw That would be the idea situation, but that doesn't mean they will get approval on this go-around, it also doesn't factor when or if my insurance will cover it either. Figured a backup plan would be nice...

I managed to run the “oref0-setup” script from here - http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/dev/docs/Build%20Your%20Rig/OpenAPS-install.html - the install seemed to work fine until the rig reboots and asks you to enter a new password...during the reboot, I get the following error message during the reboot and am wondering if this is normal - [FAILED] Failed to start Hostname Service.
See 'systemctl status systemd-hostnamed.service' for details. After the reboot, I log in as root and change my password and it spits out the following...also wondering if this is normal...after I type "l" to watch the logs as it suggests in the docs, I get another error which I'll show below in my next message. - Last login: Sat Jul 22 21:39:23 ADT 2017 on ttyMFD2

@Cooljoe04_twitter the FDA is officially engaging in enforcement discretion on drugs shipped (or carried) from Canada for personal use. If you're dealing in quantities indicating you might be re-selling, they might disallow it, but otherwise their most recent publish guidance says they don't really care.
@betluis that just means your determine-basal output didn't have a valid deliverAt time. Look further up for the real issue: it's usually old BG data or something.
@mhaeberli @danamlewis there's no need to delete your old oref0 instance. the fatal: destination path 'oref0' already exists isn't really a problem for us: it'll just git pull instead when git clone errors out like that.
@fjungman drop me an email (scott@openaps.org) if you want and I can put you in touch with Patrick and Jack Kelly, who are redesigning the Explorer Block as an Explorer Hat for the Pi0W, and plan to add a small display as well.
@Zakm0n is your max basal higher than 6.3 U/h? Did you also post your issue in the Looped FB group?

Scott Leibrand

One day looping and its incredible what its doing. Some questions, but most of those questions relate to my body and not the loop. Incredible to see myself go high at night, get +7 units over the course of the night from open aps. Shocking that the surplus insulin didn't return me to normal, was still at 180 for a long time. Maybe i was dehydrated?
Is there a method for me to determine how much surplus or deficit basal I recieved compared to schedule over a certain period of time?
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 23 2017 03:43
@scottleibrand @danamlewis FYI, I ended up deleting the old oref0 from src (renaming it, actually) because somehow it didn’t install right, nor get registered with cron correctly, as far as I could tell, without doing that. I may try again later when we update the other rig.
also, @scottleibrand @danamlewis - while I was advised NOT to worry about the npm WARN messages, is there any way to pre-emptively solve them … (I’m not worrying, just wondering)
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jul 23 2017 03:52
You can dig in and start updating package.json files to newer non-deprecated versions of dependencies and test that they still work. That's a lot more effort than most of us have been willing to take on for no apparent benefit though. :smile:

@tompetrillo there's something in dev NS reports to look at net basal hourly activity. Keep in mind your basal may be making up for miscounted meals, etc, so also keep Autotune in mind as a tool for evaluating if things need changed, plus autosens for shorter term trends

@scottleibrand Re. Customs discretion: That is good to know. That means I just need to find someone to ship it to me for a couple months then it sounds like, and then hope that it's approved here and that insurance covers it for a long term solution! My copay for Novolog was $30, and I discovered (accidentally) that my copay for Humalog was only $10, so can't beat the price and switched to it, but I would like to try out the new stuff just see how the faster absorption looks on my graphs.

would somebody please clarify how suspend works if "unsuspend_if_no_temp" is enabled? one should enter a 0 temp before suspending or after suspending?
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jul 23 2017 14:22
a bit confused about the logic here
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Jul 23 2017 14:32
my understanding is that when SMBing, it's strongly suggested when disconnecting (for shower for example) to set a temp basal to 0 and then suspend. If after reconnecting one forgets to unsuspend (ie resume) then the unsuspend if no temp would kick in. As pumps generally have a time limit on temp basal I believe this is a safety feature for the forgetful
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jul 23 2017 14:36
thanks. I am curious about what the loop does when one enters a temp basal manually, doesn't it override it? in such case, what would happen if the temp is overridden before the pump is suspended... make sense?
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Jul 23 2017 14:39
so what I do is set a temp basal to 0 for 30 min and then immediately suspend the pump. This really is most important when you're running SMB as your rig will know that no insulin has been temped (or bolused), leading to more accurate predictions and insulin needs. (again, this is my understanding of the docs so I may be off in my advice her - others will likely chime in to confirm or correct)
if you temp 0 and suspend, NS will immediately show no delivery of insulin until you resume. This is where the unsuspend (after x amount of time) is the safety piece. Upon resuming your pump tho, the rig will determine what your basal should be, and set it (I've confirmed this happens in my setup) so reconnecting your pump and resuming is all that's really needed, unless you want to start a specific basal.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 23 2017 14:43
Correct.
@betluis the suspend locks your manual temp in. If you set a manual temp but don't suspend, OpenAPS can/will override it when needed
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jul 23 2017 14:44
I see, but then has to be done immediately after the manual temp is entered otherwise you may have it overriden by the loop right?
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Jul 23 2017 14:45
I've done the manual temp to 0 and then resume and never had the rig adjust between button pushes
I don't think it takes more than 2 seconds between screens.
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jul 23 2017 14:46
now, what if there is an openaps 0 temp in place when suspending. Would that be counted as a manual temp also?
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Jul 23 2017 14:46
I guess it's possible for the rig to issue a new bolus but that'd be pretty rare (or you'd need to be pretty slow before issuing the suspend
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jul 23 2017 14:47
@cameronrenwick @danamlewis thanks
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Jul 23 2017 14:47
if you're at 0, then just suspend. When you go to the temp basal screen on your pump, it'll tell you what your basal rate is currently. Just wind that to 0, and then hit the suspend
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 23 2017 14:47
No that's not a manual temp but you'd probably want to make sure it'll last the time you expect to be suspended so if you have the new feature turned on it won't unsuspend before you're ready to put back on
:+1:
Luis Betancourt

Headed on Vacation this weeke and needing to setup an offline loop with my iPhone G5 setup. I was able to get Loop installed and "listening" in on my BGs. Next I have to run my OpenAPS setup with XDrip option rather than G5. Question: once I do this, then will OpenAPS revert back to get my BGs from wifi/internet when I am not tethered?

@danamlewis Good morning... I am waking up low for the last 3 - 4 mornings and what is interesting is, it is getting worse... I looked in logs but it didn't go back to where the process started going low around 4 or 5 am. Looked at autotune and there is not suggestion to adjust my basals. Kind of confused as to what to do. I am hitting between 50 & 60s in am. What was odd, is that when my BS started raising, the algorithm gave me insulin again.. confused as to what to do

@scottleibrand @danamlewis do you know whether "Pebble TM" App available in Apple iOS store is free of charge? Would like to install this App for the Pebble Time on an iPhone :wink:
Seems so this App is not free....

@RedCyclist1 screen shot of NS if you can't see info in the logs? Also, is your Autotune bonked or just doesn't have any suggestions for that time frame? Also, what other settings are you running, autosens?
@ceben80 not sure, sorry

@danamlewis I am running autosens, but have never looked at it. I am assuming I call it like I do Autotune...

@mpets the two files you need to check are

vi /etc/hosts and vi /etc/hostname

You'll probably see the old hostname in one or both of those files. Change it to the current host name and reboot. Should fix the problem quickly

Those of you wanting to use autotune with a non public Nightscout, please test PR openaps/oref0#563

I keep bumping up against maxsafebasal limits. When I search the docs for "maxsafebasal" I don't get any results. Can someone tell me what maxsafebasal is and what settings affect it?

@Kdisimone I see max_daily_safety_multiplier and current_basal_safety_multiplierbut no maxsafebasal

The max safe basal will be the lowest of the three potential caps on max temp basal at any given time :
  1. Your pump's setting for max temp basal
  2. The result from the max-daily safety multiplier and
  3. The result from the current-basal safety multiplier.

@PieterGit let's start with 0.5.3-dev for now. We can bump it to 0.6.0 when we have enough changes to justify a minor version change.

ok
Can you make a branch of PieterGit:201707_autotune2 in openaps, so that it's easier to test? Hope to work on improving pebble in the next days
i'm also testing openaps/oref0#561 and openaps/oref0#560 . Both look good to me, but I have them running on my test rig.

Sure. What should I call it? What is the feature we're testing?
Lots of hiking this weekend and not so much hacking for me. Can create branch from phone and merge straightforward PRs though. :smile:
Maybe autotune-tokenauth ?

can always use more testing, but checked the diffs and I think they are all fine :)

which client do you use on your phone. I really won't recommend Github Desktop under Windows (lot's of corrupted git, even a rpi rig can do better; makes merge errors without any user input). SourceTree for Windows seems to work fine.

hi everyone =) need quick advice
so i'm looping for 2 weeks now, on days battery in pump got low and it lost connection, i replace battery to fresh,but now rig still can't see pump
Old pumphistory:
Error, retrying
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/git/cmd.py", line 688, in execute
raise GitCommandError(command, status, stderr_value, stdout_value)
git.exc.GitCommandError: Cmd('git') failed due to: exit code(128)
cmdline: git add myrigname/enact/enacted.json
stderr: 'fatal: pathspec 'myrigname/enact/enacted.json' did not match any files'
am i right that its because of connecting with pump/battery issue?
nightscout can not see any pump data
