Are temp basals always set 30 minutes at a time? If so what happens if you go out of range and the temp basal is too high or too low for what you need?
Brian Rabinovitz
@bdr1177
Sep 02 2017 00:57
@darrylschick They are usually 30 minutes but it sometimes sets longer zero temps. I've seen as long as 120 min for a zero temp. For safety reasons, I don't think it ever high temps for more than 30. We have had occasional issues with a lost connection during a temp, but the limited duration, together with the safety caps for high temps, mitigates the effects.

Has anyone seen this before on first loop attempt?
Starting pump-loop at Sat Sep 2 10:28:18 JST 2017:
Waiting up to 4 minutes for new BG: date: invalid date ‘@’
ls: cannot access monitor/pump_loop_completed: No such file or directory
Radio ok. Listening: .No pump comms detected from other rigs
Old pumphistory: TypeError: Odd-length string
After the string error, Edison will try again and spit back the same error
This time I got : mmtune: TypeError: Odd-length string and then complains from the OS about using grep

@tim2000s @mhaeberli We are packing for vacation tonight, but I'll get back to the offline webpage stuff tomorrow while we're in the car, provided I have cell service. If I understand your questions, you want me to tell you what's in the http.sh file (for method 1 of making offline webpage) and what's in my openaps.ini (using method 2). Right? I've tried both methods, one way on one rig, the other on my back up rig. If those aren't right places to look, let me know. Thank you both for your ongoing help!
@danamlewis Thanks for the shout out. 😉😊 I am thrilled to help any way I can. You guys have done so much for so many!

Sep 02 2017 04:25
Where are you getting CGM data? Do you have tokenauth on NS? Is your API secret correct?
@YYCMichael not sure then. Do you get the same error when the pump is nearby vs. out of range?
useraps
@useraps
Sep 02 2017 04:31
CGM data is coming from NS. No token just the API Secret. I copied the secret from Heroku and pasted during setup questions.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Sep 02 2017 04:49
So your NS URL is probably correct if that's where BG data is coming from. Still might be worth redoing oref0-setup in case there was a stray character or something the first time you entered the API secret...
useraps
@useraps
Sep 02 2017 05:02
I did redo the oref0 setup earlier today because I gave a bolus using the bolus wizard to see if that would show up and right after that the loop stopped working. But I'll re run the setup. Its easy enough

@bdr1177 So if a temp basal is set for 30+ minutes, then contact with the edison is lost, then it becomes clear well within 30 minutes that the temp basal would need to be adjusted, does the pump continue the temp basal all the way to the end of the 30+ minute period? If so, that might not be ideal, especially if it's a high temp basal and BG starts to drop sooner than expected. If that is the case, might it be better to affirmatively renew the temp basal every 5 minutes, at least for high temp basals?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:18
@darrylschick oref0 assumes the last command sent will be the last command that succeeds. thus, whatever temp (high or low) is set is the safest thing possible, and assumes it'll run to completion
when a new temp needs to be set and it has communications, it'll set the new temp
JELCRAWFORD
@JELCRAWFORD
Sep 02 2017 05:21
@darrylschick - if we, for some reason, want to adjust a temp basal and do not have communication, we just do a manual temp basal on our son's pump and know when communication is re-established with openaps that it will take over once it has all the data it needs.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:21
if comms is lost, there's no way for it to cancel the ongoing temp basal, which is why it only ever sets what it thinks is safest based on the data up until that point

Thank you @scottleibrand, @danamlewis and @Kdisimone for your help recently. Our loop is now running on the Edison and we are manually testing suggestions. Please could you explain a few odd behaviours? I have autosens and autotune switched off, but I found my target BGs being changed (reduced) by something. This seemed to happen a couple of times and resulted in my target reducing from an original 5.5 mmol/L (99 mg/dL) to 4.5 mmol/L (81 mg/dL), what is happening please?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:38
@Bal00 do you have adjust targets when high turned on in preferences?
Tom Collins
@Bal00
Sep 02 2017 05:40
Just looked and yes I do (good spot!), but in the setup script I said no autosens so why isn't this false?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:42
That's not autosens
It's a separate feature
:)
It's designed to help w stubborn highs (ie flat in 150s type deal)
Tom Collins
@Bal00
Sep 02 2017 05:45
Oh right, thank you, I definitely get the purpose (and thanks for the docs link). Another quick question (I'm "debugging" a hypo), is it possible to set a higher ISF than the pump settings in OpenAps? The pump allows ISF up to 400 mg/dL/U, but my son is around 540..
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:48
Not that I know of unless you want to change the aliases to not pull pump settings from the pump, and basically treat it like an x12 pump- I think people with that high of sensitivity are often using diluted insulin to make things easier.
Tom Collins
@Bal00
Sep 02 2017 05:49
We're fully diluted! My son is 3 years old. We had a hard time when he was younger as his basals were so low the pulsing pattern had an effect!
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 05:50
Wow, 540 on diluted?
Then I think a) putting in 400 and letting Autotune adjust as needed would be easiest, followed by the harder b) changing your setup to act like a x12 instead of pulling isf and other settings from the pump
Tom Collins
@Bal00
Sep 02 2017 05:56
Yep! Only at night time, he desensitises in the day, but we've had to be very careful with corrections and have set higher target on the pump to avoid overcorrecting by mistake.
If I switch to autotune, does that override pump settings? Can I give Autotune my own starting point?

@danamlewis thanks for your time on this. I've just read through docs on Autotune, but I'm unclear on OpenAPS behaviour when Autotune is enabled, does it override the profile pulled from the pump with a different JSON file, or does OpenAPS decide to stop pulling from the pump (equivalent to x12 situation)?
@andyhandy what hardware are you on? Are you logged in as root?
andyhandy

yes loggedin as root on edison with explorer board
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 06:23
@Bal00 it creates a tuned profile file and uses that instead of pump, but compares to what's in the pump for safety. You can play with adjusting those safety caps to get the desired effect.

@YYCMichael do you still get the same error when the pump is completely out of range?
@darrylschick the other thing you might not be aware of is that medtronic pumps don't allow you to set temp basals shorter than 30 minutes. so we spread out whatever additional insulin is needed over the full 30m, so that if we lose communication and it runs to completion, that's still the safest thing to do (as of the time we made the decision). obviously if BG starts to drop, then canceling the temp (either automatically, or manually if you've gone out of rig range) would be advisable.

Okay :) I wasn't sure if this was an appropriate channel to ask this. I've modified a Pebble CGM in the Cloud watch face for myself and it works, but I need to change the UUID for the app so it doesn't conflict with the original app (because I'd like to be able to use both). When I generate a new UUID using CloudPebble though, the app stops working. It shows the "Loading 7.4" screen as usual but stops there and never shows data. I'm wondering if something else also needs to be changed to be able to use a new UUID.

@YYCMichael this varies between pumps and rigs. I have a 522 and 1.3EB/edison and get about 10 to 15 feet of range. Others report different results. I think it's attributed to both the radio strength on the pump and the EB.

@tynbendad per your question on that Pr, all the possible preference options are explained on the preferences page: http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/While%20You%20Wait%20For%20Gear/preferences-and-safety-settings.html#other-preferences

@danamlewis thx - i just worry about code!=documentation, because in my non-open-source experience docs grow stale quickly ;)

Anytime we do a release, any new features that get coded get documented. But yes - that's in general why it's crucial for everyone to help with improvements and clarifications :smile:
(But that's also why I don't suggest general users get on non-documented feature WIP branches, per my earlier comment. We don't document until the code gets to where it's finished fluctuating in terms of how it works)

completly unrelated, but a google search is failing - does anyone know where dexcom share upload port #'s are documented?
@danamlewis yes, i'm a bit hesitant to try things on my son before its released & documented, but if i think he'll benefit i'm all for it...

trying to grok http.sh local web page magic. tried cat ~/myopenaps/enact/smb-enacted.json | jq -r . timestamp get jq: error: Could not open file timestamp: No such file or directory (not on Edison, on another system). is there some kind of timestamp command I should have installed?
d’oh ! what is needed by jq: cat ~/myopenaps/enact/smb-enacted.json | jq -r .timestamp which then returns the timestamp field value

in NS I enabled the Openaps pill by adding "openaps" to the ENABLE variable. I see the pill but it has a warning mark and shows "unknown". Any advise?
How can I see in papertrail if the rig is SMBing?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 19:24
Are you looping successfully?
If temps are being set but data isn't making it to the pill, check NS URL and API secret.
@Samuchco I'd get the basics for monitoring sorted before turning on SMB.

Been looping for a month+ succesfully

K. Check future treatments in NS and mlab size; if all of those are fine, and you're on an edison with jubilinux 0.2.0, you probably need the fix that's in oref0 dev branch
If so, switching to dev branch (and then rebooting rig) should make pill display

Hey all, dumb question... how can I check what autosens is doing? There is definately something wonky going on with it. I know how to see its decision in the logs, but where is the file for it?
All I see in the autosens.json is ratio 1, which doesn't seem to match the ratio in preferences
@danamlewis, is this the place you meant that I should change the ratio?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Sep 02 2017 19:35
Ratio 1 is what it's calculating
What I was talking about is in your preferences, one sec
That's specific for anchoring isf down
Autosens min max also influence the capabilities for Autotune for basals and carbs and isf, too, but I'd try the adjustment fraction first
PopcornPam
@PopcornPam_twitter

@YYCMichael you'll need to set those items up for use by NS. Most likely in your heroku... under settings, PUMP_FIELDS you should have battery reservoir clock status
take a look at the docs for heroku... pretty well detailed there
