it does tell us that your rig is not connecting to your wifi at all
can you check whether the wifi configs are identical between that and a working rig?

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 07 2017 00:26
@diabetic_dude_twitter have you ever cloned oref0 onto this Mac? if not, you'll need to do so into ~/src/oref0
copying from the rig would probably also work
@garykidd BlueZ 5.23 is the wrong version
garykidd
@garykidd
Oct 07 2017 00:29
yeah...strange...on rig it shows as this...
root@THUNDERBIRD:~/myopenaps# bluetoothd --version 5.44
interestingly enough....having done nothing it now shows as the rig name....THUNDERBIRD

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 07 2017 01:20
@garykidd that's why we used to have people use vi to edit wpa_supplicant.conf over console
you can rename a rig by editing /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts

Is there a simple way to clone your app on Heroku under a single account so that I can create a separate NS sandbox/test site independent from our NS production site . I would rather not have to retype all of the settings, variables, etc. I didn't see any obvious way of doing this on Heroku. thanks

@sadafakahmad do you just want to disable those messages on console? or are they causing/indicating a problem you want to fix?
@garykidd yeah, I think so. I did brew install npm which I believe is just an alias to brew install node

If they are indicating a problem that needs fixing, I'd like to fix the problem. If nothing needs fixing, it would be nice if they weren't popping up every few seconds so I can read my log easier.

@garykidd I just did the following:

Install homebrew:
/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)”

install coreutils:
brew install coreutils

install node:
brew install node

install jq:
brew install jq

then get oref0 and change to autotune-patch

mkdir -p ~/src; cd ~/src && git clone git://github.com/openaps/oref0.git || (cd oref0 && git checkout autotune-patch && git pull)

then
npm run global-install

then got to step 3 here http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Customize-Iterate/autotune.html#phase-c-running-autotune-more-easily-as-an-average-user-or-as-a-one-off

you’ll create your profile.json, make the two copies, and then run:

oref0-autotune --dir=~/myopenaps --ns-host=https://yournightscout.herokuapp.com where you adjust to your NS URL

(so yes, you need to get /src/oref0 in your iMac…that one long step will do that)

@scottleibrand @danamlewis (or others) some follow up questions on the severe lows we had the last few days (openaps/oref0#695 ) . What is your definition of rescue carbs. Carbs you take to prevent a low? How do you enter them? Using carbs only and no insulin on the pump, or using nightscout? Does oref0 skip carbs that have no insulin only for looping, and takes these carbs into account with autotune? I think the docs on rescue carbs can be improved. I'll make a PR to the docs, but first need to understand it :smile: . Btw no severe lows and no need for lots of rescue carbs for two days with openaps/oref0#695
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Oct 07 2017 12:21
I don’t know about autotune, but my understanding in oref1 is that rescue carbs are just seen as carbs and are included into the calculation like that @PieterGit
jaylagorio
@jaylagorio
Oct 07 2017 15:28
@PieterGit I call rescue carbs the sugar I eat/drink to bring up from a low. I don't declare them to the pump or Nightscout and have been OK doing that so far.
I had a really severe low last night after a huge no-bolus SMB meal, but I can't say with certainty it wasn't my doing. I do know for a fact that if I had bolused the whole meal that the low would have been much worse and much harder to correct (3U IOB during the worst of it vs. probably more like 7U IOB if doing it manually)
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 07 2017 15:39
I consider rescue carbs (or perhaps more generally correction carbs) to be any carbs you didn't intend to eat but ate to prevent or recover from a low. Not entering them is fine and safe in the short term, but might cause autotune to underestimate CR if done routinely after meals.
We can't skip carbs that have no insulin, because that's how all of our carbs are. It might be good to have a better way to distinguish them when entering via NS though, so we can exclude them from real-time dosing COB calculations and only use them for autotune and autosens.

Hi Scott what is developing under no-basal-v-bolus branch?
jaylagorio
@jaylagorio
Oct 07 2017 15:53
I'm on board with distinguishing them
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 07 2017 17:54
the no-basal-v-bolus branch removes the (attempted) distinction between basals+SMBs on the one hand and manual boluses on the other. it also removes bolus snooze, which depended on that (now hazy) distinction. it preserved the basaliob and netbasalinsulin reported in iob.json for human use, but no longer makes use of it anywhere in the algorithm.

fidoman
@efidoman
Oct 07 2017 18:09
I've been testing eSMB for a week now and have some general and very positive feedback about my experience. I haven't manually bolused for a meal the entire week. This week, my BG levels post meal go up and peak between 150 and 200. I haven't experienced a low (< 65) the entire week, but I have seen the notification for carbs req. and gave rescue carbs a couple of times before it became an issue. Typically, the post meal spike to about 170 comes back down within about an hour and gets stable quickly (i.e. no overshoot problems). My setup is dexcom g5, rig, and 522 pump using rapid-acting insulin and curve. I would say that control is much better this week than prior weeks where I tried to guess a manual pre-meal bolus amount. Having the openaps system recalculate every 5 minutes what it should do post meal based on meal announced carbs is so much more accurate and consistent than I could ever do. The meals I eat range from 30 carbs all the way to 90+. Breakfast and lunch I announce the entire carb guestimate just before the meal. Dinner, I wait until I see a BG uptick to announce the carbs. Reasoning is because my digestion seems faster for breakfast and lunch and then is delayed normally by 30 minutes or so for dinner. I guess I'm quite sensitive to novolog because it seems to work fast for me. I may try fiasp soon as my insurance just stopped covering novolog.

I'm a little puzzled by autosens behavior today. My daughter's bg has been consistently high with openaps running all day. She seems more insulin resistant than usual. In this situation, I would expect autosens to adjust ISF, basals, and targets lower, but I'm generally seeing the opposite. Any explanation for this? Here's what I'm seeing.

Hi everyone. So my wife is heading to Germany tomorrow and I was looking at setting up the offline looping feature for when she's on the plane/out of cell/wifi reception. I've got the USB OTG cable to connect her receiver to the OpenAPS rig, as well as a USB battery. It looks like to enable the feature I need to re-run the setup script with G4-local. Is there any way to have the system use G4-local when it's plugged in and fall "back" to G5 when not plugged in, or will the rig need to stay connected to the receiver for the duration? Thank you!

@scottleibrand Soooo I think cancelling my temp target and adding the carbs at the same time messed something up...

Just added an estimated 35g carbs still left to be digested and now it has added the carbs that I just put in along with what it estimates are still left to be digested.

Oct 07 2017 22:45
@sbernacki you don't want to combine g4-local with g5. you need to pick whichever of those matches the type of Dexcom system you're on.
that said, with any of those options it will automatically use an OTG-connected CGM receiver when available, and get BG data from NS otherwise
@jaylagorio you'll need to dig into the details on your rig to figure that one out. I can't troubleshoot that one remotely

@bdr1177 there is a /var/log/openaps/autosens-loop.log that has more detail on what autosens is doing and why
@jaylagorio this wouldn't be caused by that. looks like it just didn't see your first carb entry for awhile
@efidoman awesome! glad it's working so well for you. what happens if you enter carbs earlier for dinner? I suspect it won't be too aggressive up front, and you'll get equally good results without waiting.
