Hi all - figured I would post the solution to the earlier issue I posted with NS Boot error. Patrick Kelly (@pdtkelly) recommended restarting all dynos under Heroku which resolved the issue. Hope this helps others.

eSMB continues to be an incredibly useful and helpful feature. Now, I feel free to eat what I want without worry for the first time in almost 30 years. Tonight I had 45 grams for dinner and then a desert a bit later (30 grams). I announced those carbs as soon as I started eating in both cases. How did eSMB handle it ... perfectly I would say.

I have some issues reaching my target since I switched but I am currently looking if this is because of a bad sensor or so.
My target during nights is 80 and I am not reaching it since I changed. But I'll first investigate this further...so no worries - erase this information out of your brains. ;-)

I'm confused about how the current dev branch is reporting IOB (just updated to dev 0.6.0 last night). Started ES at 5:30 am with target of 100. By about 6:30 am, basal IOB was still negative at -0.08. Gave 0.7 units at about 6:35 am. At about 7:15 am, OpenAPS pill was reporting IOB: 0.53U, Basal IOB 0.53U. The NS IOB pill reported Basal IOB 0.48 Source OpenAPS and Careportal IOB 0.59 This doesn't make sense to me. Basal IOB was negative going into breakfast and has been mostly zero temping since then. So basal IOB should still be negative. It looks like total IOB is being reported as Basal IOB in both the OpenAPS pill and the NS IOB pill.

Oct 09 2017 15:14
nope: openaps/oref0#685
the problem is/was that it was attributing SMBs to basalIOB, and had to guess at what was an SMB based on its size. 0.7 is below the cutoff
Brian Rabinovitz
@bdr1177
Oct 09 2017 15:15

I don't completely understand the cultural norms around commenting to get a branch merged. Are you just looking for a thumbs up, or do you need a substantive comment about why I'd like it merged?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 09 2017 16:04
either/both. if you've tested it, commenting with your results is useful. or if you have a particular reason to want to see it merged, or are volunteering to test once it hits dev, commenting to that effect is also helpful. but even a simple +1 is helpful

the reason I showed the above lunch screenshot is because it proves that eSMB is definitely not over-agressive. In fact, in this case, if I had manually bolused when I ate my 20g lunch (even just 1.0 unit) I may have gone low. Nice work openaps!

@bdr1177 for getting things added into Dev, one comment or thumbs up is generally good. (If we have a Pr open and sitting there, it helps us prioritize getting that in if someone expresses interest, too) In addition, @scottleibrand and I always review and test things. Smaller bar for getting to dev for further testing. For release candidates (dev to master PRs) it takes a lot more eyeballs, testing, and thumbs up.

PieterGit
@PieterGit
Oct 09 2017 21:10
@CaptainBalou : problem is that it as far as I see, changing from multiple ISF to a single ISF does not propogate good in the jsons. I ended up changing the profile json's by hand (or by moving myopenaps dir and reinstalling oref0-setup.sh). so i'm afraid it's not very easy, and you might need to reinstall the oref0, to make sure the isf profiles are corrected in the json. Currently autotune does not support multiple CR or ISF values, and it will use the sens or first entry of isfProfile (similar for CR)
Marco

I checked those values with jq … and the do not match my pump values at all. Hmm...
But first is: Yes just the first entry gets autotuned.
PieterGit
@PieterGit
Oct 09 2017 21:15
i assume that you see your multiple ISF profile and the first entry is changed by the result of the <autotune_sens>, see https://github.com/openaps/oref0/issues/708#issue-263759829

Confusing.
I changed my ISFs a week ago or so. I ran autotune manually and then changed the values accordingly in my pump.
The old values are inside autotune.json and profile.json. I can see the new in pumpprofile.json.
But I cant see if this is ok or not. My feeling says no.

PieterGit
@PieterGit
Oct 09 2017 21:30
@CaptainBalou : the fact that the autotune and profile.json are not updated is a bug as far as i can tell: https://github.com/openaps/oref0/issues/708#issue-263759829 . Please confirm your findings there.
The fact that multiple ISF/CR's are not supported for autotune is not a bug, but it's a missing feature request see openaps/oref0#326 (for ISF). Scott told me (or I read somewhere) multiple CR's is probably easier to implement than multiple ISF. I now changed to one profile, to overcome this oref0 missing features for now.

I have a question.... when my daughters cannula stops to work and I change it, the IOB value is not real. And I can't correct it because Loop will assume a higher value of IOB! I guess there's no way to reduce IOB so I was thinking in adding "fake" carbs on NS to allow a faster correction. What do you think? Is there a better way to do this?
Right now, IOB is high, BG is high and basal is LOW .... but the reallity is that IOB is LOW (because of the cannula)

Oct 09 2017 21:34
@PieterGit Understand. I also tried that for some days but could get it working for me with one value. So I changed back to multiple. I know that this is not supported by autotune. Yes, I write down my findings during our chat inside this issue. But ot seems that it’s not depending on "changing from multiple to one value“. It more depends on any change which is not reflected in the profile and autotune. Ok, let me just comment a bit in this issue.

be careful with fake carbs, can make it harder short term (and confuse things long term) with fake data
you may also want to do a (small) fixed prime for a portion that you feel is missing, to better match what the netIOB is showing

I had manually entered Carb data on pump during this period---but it never made it in to NS...and missed a window to SMB prior to having significant excursion.......was pretty sure I could enter carbs as an event on pump----no?
and not as a bolus
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 09 2017 21:48
@garykidd needs to be accompanied by a 0.1 bolus in order for carb entry to be recorded

Oct 09 2017 21:48
@PieterGit if you had UAM overcorrecting, it would've been when BG was rising (and had been for awhile) just before absorption slowed way down. in NS, that looks like a single purple prediction line way higher than all the others
I would look back at pump-loop.log for when it actually gave the last few SMBs before BG started dropping and it stopped giving insulin

ok. I agree with Pieter that 0.6.0-dev1 with #695 is probably safest to use right now. but if you were seeing lows with older code as well, there may be some of your settings that are too aggressive. have you been running autotune?

hoping for some advice on wifi connectivity. Currently have 4 networks listed but rig will only connect to 2nd choice which is my daughter's hotspot. Even when we turn off the hotspot, the rig does not switch over to our home network which is listed as the first network in wifi file. What's even more strange is that, before last week, the rig would only connect to the 1st choice (our home wifi) and not switch over to the hotspot when she was out of range of the home network. Any thoughts?

I will say that eSMB was awesome at lunch. 35g without a bolus and it immediately started working on it. Never made it over 140 and I'm just on humalog

Just curious. Was the problem with #695 that the COB degraded way faster than it should?
Thinking about that question I guess that wouldn't make since

no, the problem was that it was dosing for too much of the predicted carb absorption up front before it actually observed it.

I think I just hit the #695 issue with dinner. See my chart below. Seems eSMB may have been slightly too aggressive with falling BG? My last update was 8 days ago to the latest dev. I will update in the morning.

I took 15 not announced rescue carbs when it got down to 72. I was getting carbs required notifications as well.

Dinner was a hotdog (30 grams) followed by 30 grams of baked potato about 20 minutes after the hotdog.
what's the quickest way to update? Can I just do a git pull and then rerun setup?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand

Yep. For more frequent updates you usually don't even need to re-run oref0-setup, just git pull the latest dev.

@efidoman not sure this particular instance would've been caused by #695, but updating can't hurt. you might want to consider whether you need to run an eating soon after you've eaten, or whether you want to cancel it with the last carb entry so oref0 will correct to your normal target instead of 80.

@dmdfreak you're probably missing one of these:

PUMP_FIELDS    battery reservoir clock status
PUMP_RETRO_FIELDS    battery reservoir clock status

from halfway down http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/While%20You%20Wait%20For%20Gear/nightscout-setup.html?highlight=pump_

Hey @scottleibrand . I tried to look for those „Invalid Date“ log messages. But I am sorry I cannot see anything because I think I have not enought knowledge how different code is working together here. I am so sorry but I’ll not find it for now.

if you wanted to you could set up an IFTTT button that cancels temp targets when entering carbs, similar to how the rescue carbs example sets a temp target along with the carb entry.
that way you could still do ES before the meal but then switch it off when the SMBs for carbs start
