@jaylagorio regarding my rig cases and question about shaving down the molding that holds the batteries in place..yes, i did...just used an Xacto knife and took my time on the latest--at first used dremel--that works too but was trying to be quiet last nite--so went the manual route.

@scottleibrand I'm still having issues with the one rig not being able to get a IP address with BT tethering. I was able to get my other rig up and running with BT tether and it actually work like it's supposed to (BT tether outside of WiFi Range and then drop when in WiFi). @Kdisimone suggested that a re-flash may work with the BT issue I have with the original rig. The only problem with that is that I bought one that was pre-flashed. Since I'm a total newb and don't know anything really how difficult is it to reflash and do you think that will help?

I printed a case today and was working on fitting my rig into it, and from losing power suddenly to now, something doesn't seem right.
When I type openaps mmtune, I get no such file or Directory
also this from the logs: Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?

Yes, I am going down the list of steps for that, and openaps mmtune is one of the reccomedations but I get file/dir not found so its not recognizing my command.
@garykidd I was just trying to find how to do that since I was reading previous chats....do you have any instructions on that?
garykidd
@garykidd
Oct 14 2017 00:38
yes...

Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?
Basic steps using an Intel Edison with Explorer Board, checking with openaps mmtune to see if it is resolved yet:

Make sure the Explorer board has not become loose and is sitting correctly on the Edison board
Double check that your port in pump.ini is correct
Check that your rig is in close range of your pump
Check that your pump battery is not empty
Reboot your rig
Run oref0-runagain
Fully power down and start up your rig
Remove and re-add your pump device
If you are using an Intel Edison with Explorer Board, and that does not resolve your issue, or if the two LEDs next to the microUSB ports on your Explorer board stay on even after an mmtune, you may need to re-flash your radio chip:

Install ccprog tools on your Edison: cd ~/src; git clone https://github.com/ps2/ccprog.git
Build (compile) ccprog so you can run it: cd ccprog; make ccprog
Flash the radio chip:
wget https://github.com/EnhancedRadioDevices/subg_rfspy/releases/download/v0.8-explorer/spi1_alt2_EDISON_EXPLORER_US_STDLOC.hex
./ccprog -p 19,7,36 erase
./ccprog -p 19,7,36 write spi1_alt2_EDISON_EXPLORER_US_STDLOC.hex
Reboot, and try openaps mmtune to make sure it works

@scottleibrand Here is the summary of those troubleshooting steps. This all happened after I worked to fit my explorer board into a case. Also the date and time was reset. Maybe I damaged my explorer board somehow while manhandling it.

Make sure the Explorer board has not become loose and is sitting correctly on the Edison board - Reseated to be sure

Double check that your port in pump.ini is correct - I'm unsure what the value should be, but I have a minimed pump - Here is my output:
[device "pump"]
serial = XXXXX (removed)
port = /dev/spidev5.1
radio_type = subg_rfspy

Check that your rig is in close range of your pump - Right next to each other
Check that your pump battery is not empty - New battery last night, showing full
Reboot your rig - Done
Run oref0-runagain - Done several times
Fully power down and start up your rig - Turned off, disconnected battery
Remove and re-add your pump device - Done
Flashed Device - Yes

I'll give it a break for now and come back to this later, thanks for the help

Ok, I'm trying to flash my Edison to Jubilinux, it was supposed to have come with Ubilinux installed, but when I got into the Putty console, it says "Debian GNU/Linux 8 jubilinux ttyMFD2" Does that mean I've already got Jubilinux installed?

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 14 2017 01:18
@Jieseldeep she'll likely have some suggestions. you could also try using Autotune (take your MDI dose and split it into hourly basals), assuming you're logging some carb and meal injection data, and share that with her too to give you a better starting point.
plus using autotune after you start pumping and looping will help, too

@jquitos autotune you need to add to your run again enable line. ditto for SMB (and you then need to change the preferences). so for that level of change i'd re-run oref0 setup again, but in the future you'll be able to turn it off or tweak which setting by what's in preferences.

@Jieseldeep what kind of phone do you have?
Doesn't look like its spotting your wifi. If it's an iPhone, you'll need to be in your hotspot screen when that script is running for it to see your hotspot
when I was away at school I had what sounds like the same scenario and the link above (about half way down the page) got me logge into the captive portal

@danamlewis Sorry, it finally started working. I had hidden the SSID previously and once I reenabled it, it worked fine. I feel like the wording surrounding the alternative to API_Secret...some kind of token, should be adjusted. It asks if you would like to use it, not whether you had previously used it to setup your nightscout. When you haven't used it, the program runs for a long time before closing and failing.
@danamlewis Thanks for all your assistance! Should I be worried about all the "npm WARN" notifications?

@scottleibrand @garykidd not to be contrary but I have NOT been able to ssh over bluetooth hotspot when hotspot is iPhone - unless I ssh FROM iPhone proper. IMHO some kinda (annoying) magic security stuff from Apple
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 14 2017 05:45
@mhaeberli sounds like you're expecting the iPhone to magically bridge the wifi and bluetooth interfaces? not sure they have any reason to do that
but @garykidd was asking about doing it with Termius, which should work
@mhaeberli if you have a laptop on your phone's hotspot via wifi, why not let the rig join the same phone wifi network?
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Oct 14 2017 05:47
@scottleibrand thx 4 clarification - my use case was macbook tethering through iPhone (but probably carelessly on WiFi side) and Edison on BT (because AWAY from home WiFi network) so I’ll stand happily corrected unless / until I retry it ...
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 14 2017 05:47
@mhaeberli I'm suggesting your rig should be configured with your phone's wifi hotspot
if you haven't done that, it won't work. if you do, then as soon as you activate the wifi hotspot for your laptop, the rig can join it too
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Oct 14 2017 05:50
hmmm ok - had been BT tethering for phone / rig power conservation … but I’ll go look at that recipe, too ...

@scottleibrand
Oct 14 2017 06:00
you generally want to leave your phone's wifi hotspot off and just use BT hotspot: when you activate personal hotspot in iOS settings, immediately go back to the main settings screen. when you're not in the personal hotspot screen, only bluetooth can initiate hotspot connections
or you can briefly turn wifi off to disconnect wifi hotspot users and then turn it back on so your phone can do normal wifi

Dears what is differences between glucose.json and glucose-unzoned.json?
Velibor Maric

Oct 14 2017 11:14

Hi all. I use xdrip+ to get BG from Blukon. I use Edison+Explorer for Rig. I followed instruction for BT tethering and it works in case WiFi drops out.
Now, I tried to set Rig<-->Internet connection without WiFi but with BT tethering only. I commented out line
# wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
Now, after some time BT tethering kicks in but it won't stay on for long. I set up Xdrip+ to send data locally to rig via settings in xdrip

(I exchanged data to my setup) and if xdrip misses to send data on time, my Rig misses BG data and fail to enact Looping as BG data was too old. In the end on NS site I have info that BG data was too old for Loop to enact.
I tried to add
```auto pan0
iface pan0 inet static
to /etc/network/interfaces but didn't help to make permanent BT connection to my phone.
My question is: how to make permanent BT connection between my Rig and Phone? The idea is to have Rig offline looping
I hope that I made myself clear :/
@garykidd I use hootoo mostly when I want to add my rigs to a network with a portal. Don't actually use it as much as you would expect, because if I'm in a place for one night per my usual travels it's just as easy for me to leave it on my hotspot. But for things like planes, hotels, etc is when most people would see a benefit
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 14 2017 18:13
@savek-cc sorry for explaining what you already know better than I do. I think the main limitation to implementing something for the Combo on OpenAPS would be having to deal with BlueZ. And secondarily having to figure out all the interface bits. Probably best to stick with phone based solutions for Bluetooth-capable pumps IMO. Wouldn't hurt to have both Android and iOS options though.
garykidd
@garykidd
Oct 14 2017 19:38
@danamlewis thx. Cause I was htinking...wait what's the benefit if I can share BT or wifi internet connection from my phone? If you are plugging in to LAN line at a hotel, for instance, I'm assuming that mobile app would allow you to setup the rest (and not need a computer)?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 14 2017 19:39
@garykidd benefit is a) not having to use mobile data and b ) log in once via the hootoo and allow multiple things to connect. Allows you to surpass device limits, and easier than connecting via each device. (So log in via phone and then all rigs, laptop, etc can latch on)
@savek-cc :purple_heart:
@kcrcgm yup, run the command manually on the rig and it'll update based on the current active basal pattern. But keep in mind Autotune makes incremental changes, so if you feel strongly that you need x% more and change your underlying basals, depending on the data for that one day, Autotune may note tune that much. But, it'll help Autosens as well.
