k, would we get a better picture looking at ns-loop.log as well as pump-loop.log? If these zeros are only sporadic and self-resolve, then it's not a biggy, but since the loop is enacting based on false zero carbs we could get stuck on a zero temp (if the pump loses connectivity for example) when the opposite is needed.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 25 2017 00:19
yeah, if you can track down the source of it, it'd be nice to improve the resiliency of integrating pumphistory with NS treatments, particularly in light of flaky NS comms. maybe some extra error checking in oref0-ns-loop.sh would do the trick.

why doesnt IOB contemplate 0 for basals when pump is suspended?
jdunn42
@jdunn42
Oct 25 2017 01:03
Because openaps gets the basal rate from the pump, and the pump still reports whatever basal is programmed, even when suspended. If you set a temp basal of 0 right before suspending, iob will be right.
garykidd
@garykidd
Oct 25 2017 01:17
Right...got it that it does work this way--maybe should have asked...why don't we change it---I couldn't think of one so am asking.... Why can't we just override, as you say, "what the pump is reporting" in the instance that the pump is suspended...unless we're not able to rely on the pump not pumping when it's suspended...which, I do not believe, is possible.

AFAIK mmhistorytools by @loudnate takes account of pump suspends and resumes. It's also very nicely written with lots of unit tests. I did a PR a while back to integrate this into oref0 but it didn't ultimately get pulled. Whether we use mmhistorytools or code it up in oref0, it might help to look at the logic there.

@danamlewis Thank you Dana, I'm not a CGM or insulin pump user but I want to learn about OpenAPS in order to present this alternative to T1D people from my country. I understand that the 522/722 insulin pump is compatible with OpenAPS, but the associate CGM sensor is also compatible too? Having this pump device is enough to set the rig or I need an additional CGM device? What pump+cgm set would you recommend for a first OpenAPS version?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 25 2017 03:56
Bienvenido Fabian! Feel free to ask questions any time: no need to get anyone's attention first. If they don't get answered right away, one of us will read through later and tag you with a response to anything that wasn't addressed in real time.
if someone already has a Medtronic Enlite sensor working with their pump, they can loop with that. Most people setting up a new system opt for a Dexcom CGM for improved reliability, length of sensor life, and ease of use.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 25 2017 03:58
If the pump is compatible, any sensor that works with the pump will work for OpenAPS :+1:
I would recommend whatever people have and are comfortable with. Some people feel strongly about CGM types; others do not.

Oct 25 2017 04:11
@scottleibrand @danamlewis Thank you for your answers. I will see what CGM types are used here. However, it seems that the pump is the key piece. There is no problem with the insulin reservoirs as the 522/722 has been discontinued? There is some place where this pump can be purchased?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Oct 25 2017 04:25
Medtronic still sells reservoirs and pump sites compatible with all of their old pumps. That's how their pump division makes most of their money: they don't make much profit on the pumps themselves. :-)

@garykidd Minimed only markets 2 versions of the reservoir. the 3ml and the 1.8ml. According to the 670 user manual, the 670 requires the larger reservoir...MMT-332A, 3.0 ml (300-unit). The 7 series pumps use that item number OR the smaller 1.8ml. The 5 series pumps use only the 1.8ml reservoir.

offline looping question: If I have a rig connected to a dexcom receiver, using G4 and g4-upload when I go back into a wifi area, will data get to NS? If I disconnect the dexcom receiver and use my android, will THIS allow for data to get to NS? @tynbendad Couple days ago I run into similar situation. Installed new Edison but it didn't upload data to NS but it was downloading from it. I totally forgot about error searching into ns-loop.log. Now, I started over but this time installing master first and passing through it's setup questions and I noticed slightly different questions to those in dev. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to check whether it works now but it might give you an idea...
sdneufer
@sdneufer
Oct 25 2017 14:50
@cameronrenwick It looks like oref0-setup.sh will setup either g4-upload or xdrip. Whichever you setup the rig will try to get from NS if it can't get from its default. So if you disconnect the g4 receiver (g4-upload) and the android sends to NS from the xdrip app, the edison rig would get data from NS.
sdneufer
@sdneufer
Oct 25 2017 14:59
@cameronrenwick if you reran the setup adding the g4-upload after running it for xdrip, then the code for xdrip should still be there. It likely is not in your rig's cron to run it. You could try adding it back into your crontab however then you potentially have both xdrip and g4-upload getting cgm numbers at times.

@tynbendad someone else reported an issue with oref0-ns-loop not having all the xdripaps conponents, but never followed through on helping fix it or even opening a github issue. So I guess you're on tap.
Easiest fix would be changing oref0-setup to use the old ns-loop cron line like we did for MDT CGM until we can get the xdrip specific stuff added.

@NAGW322 thanks - i don't know what else they need...
i'm not sure what the best way to resurrect your rig is either, i just wiped out all files in /var/log and /var/log/openaps

@tynbendad Thank you. I have a Fall Festival to take 4 kids to tonight, so I'm not going to be on much until late. I will check back. Hope to get him looping again though. :( So bummed!!

I see this from a week ago openaps/oref0#731 (Add Edison Voltage back to NS upload). I updated dev last night, and still don't see anything in NS. Any ideas?

@nagw322 also look at head for those files to see when they start.
If it's more than a day ago, you probably didn't set up daily log rotation like the docs say to do. Maybe we need to automate that.
