@cluckj I have been using the same rig for a long time, so it should be. I did have a power interrupt so it go totally powered down without proper shutdown. Yes to internet connection.

I have also run npm run global-install

The work in offline monitoring always is using network. The OpenAPSApp need network too.

Is possible to use only bluetooth like a bluetooth connection of RileyLink or a bluetooth headphone? thats don't need network

I've found an issue in mmeowlink that doesn't affect 0.8 firmware, but will show up once support is added for the read-register command in 1.0. Is @oskarpearson 's repo still the right place to report this?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Dec 21 2017 04:51
Yes, so far. If he doesn’t have time to review PRs any longer we can fork it over into the openaps org.
alimhassam

what's the issue? (as i'm currently using 1.0 sometimes with mmeowlink)
Eric
@ecc1
Dec 21 2017 05:44
The 1.0 firmware supports a command to read a given register on the radio. (I was using that in my probe demo to show the current frequency). Register values can be zero, but the current mmeowlink code won't handle that correctly. It's not a bug because mmeowlink doesn't even support that new command yet; it's just a problem waiting to happen

instructions on how to set up wifi hotspot.. in docshttp://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Customize-Iterate/bluetooth-tethering-edison.html it only briefly mentions it but no instructions on how to set it up on your phone
also .. if you set this up I am a little confused as to why your phone cant be connected to wifi while on the go or at thome and your phone utilize that wifi and not data...
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Dec 21 2017 06:27
It's the way your phone is. Your phone can use wifi but can't also then pass that wifi data to the rig. The rig has to be on the wifi. Example: your work has wifi "Work". IPhone can be on "work" wifi but rig can't get Bluetooth hotspot. You have to a) put rig on "work" wifi by adding it to your wifi file, or b ) use the wifi hotspot (confusingly named) , which is a different type of hotspot from your phone that takes more battery, and it doesn't automatically tether (so you have to be on the hotspot screen to latch on to the wifi hotspot)
DaisyHK
@laurathiessen
Dec 21 2017 06:37
@danamlewis ok I want to set up wifi hot spot for my rig to use (I cant BT tether, I am tired of trouble shooting so just want to do this option for right now). If my rig is connected to the "wifi hotspot" on my phone it can use this data for looping, also if it is connected to my phone "wifi hotspot" when my phone is connected to wifi both will then just use wifi data and not phone data correct?
i cant find instructions on how to do this ... this talks only about BT tethering.... http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Customize-Iterate/bluetooth-tethering-edison.html

@laurathiessen If your phone is in wifi hotspot mode and projecting a wireless network, it is using your phone data to allow other devices to connect to the internet. Whereas if your phone is connected to a wifi network and sharing its internet connection via bluetooth, it is using the wifi network's bandwidth.
BT tethering setup is a little tedious and can take some tries but I'm very happy to have gotten it working, I just needed to very carefully follow the instructions in the docs which are very good.

What are people doing to come down from highs on 6.0? Once I go high, I am high for 6 hours or more. Openaps is SMBing but it takes forever to come down. I have tried using the IFTTT buttons to add more carbs & have upped my MAXiob and safety multipliers, any other suggestions?

Dec 21 2017 17:56
@RedCyclist1 what is your "maxSMBBasalMinutes" set to? I found that when I gradually eased that up (I'm at 120 now) it helped to control highs well. Also, have you considered your pump settings, particularly max basal?

I had rig problem after work last night. Rig was on work wifi with work wifi IP address. Got home, and rig didn't automatically connect to home wifi. ifconfig wlan0 still showed work IP address. After reboot, it connected to home wifi. Shouldn't this be automatic?

I mean if it's due to carbs need different preboluding strategy or something
Ebgineer
@Ebgineer
Dec 21 2017 18:00
That could help, but still need to have a strategy to return from a high excursion
It could be that ISF is different depending on glucose

Dec 21 2017 18:01
That's a good point
Ebgineer
@Ebgineer
Dec 21 2017 18:02
The way we have it now you can have different ISF for different times of day but not different glucose ranges right?
alimhassam
@alimhassam
Dec 21 2017 18:03
Also it seems like the algo is trying to bring you back in range over the duration of the Dia which could be long if your Dia is long. Shouldn't keep you high fir 6h thought.

Dec 21 2017 18:03
@cameronrenwick Where do you adjust maxSMBBasalMinutes? We have upped max basal in the pump
alimhassam
@alimhassam
Dec 21 2017 18:08
But in still think the first goal should be to try to find the cause of each high and avoid getting in that situation in the first place next time. I don't have a good answer on better strategy to bring sugar back down faster though. I have that issue too.
RedCyclist1
@RedCyclist1
Dec 21 2017 18:08
@alimhassam Thanks, my sugars started rising at 3 am and went up consistently with no carbs on board through to this morning. Ending at 300 even though I was adding carbs that I didn't eat. Finally took a shot and changed insulin and sites. It is still a problem.

Dec 21 2017 18:24
I'm not using SMB yet, but I'm seeing a pattern where the loop cuts my basal to 0 for a couple of hours, then predictably I go high and it takes 4-6 hours to return. So I'll need to adjust ISF so it doesn't overestimate the effect of IOB and predict a low.
alimhassam

@alimhassam Actually I wasn't that far off. Carb ratio the same, but sensitivity went down to 89 from 100.
ith 6.0, I thought if we put approximate number of carbs, meaning lower rather than higher, it would self correct?
@alimhassam what about what Camerson suggested about the maxSMBBasalMinutes, where do you adjust maxSMBBasalMinutes? We have upped max basal in the pump.
RedCyclist1

Dec 21 2017 18:46
@RedCyclist1 it's one of the elements in your preferences.json file; IIRC is initially set at 30. Suggested approach as per the docs is to increase in 15 min increments only and try. Reason I mention this is I had similar highs like you mention and gradually worked my way to 120 which is my "perfect" number.

apt-get clean
apt-get autoclean
Ebgineer
@Ebgineer
Dec 21 2017 19:15
@Samuchco strange, when I did apt-get clean I went down by 200M but then after apt-get autoclean it went up 100M from there
alimhassam
@alimhassam
Dec 21 2017 19:20
You probably just want the clean command
Samuchco
@Samuchco
Dec 21 2017 19:45
@Ebgineer In my case went down both cases. this is what I did
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean
clean – clean clears out the local repository of retrieved package files. It removes everything but the lock file from /var/cache/apt/archives/ and /var/cache/apt/archives/partial/.
autoclean – Like clean, autoclean clears out the local repository of retrieved package files. The difference is that it only removes package files that can no longer be downloaded, and are largely useless. This allows a cache to be maintained over a long period without it growing out of control. The configuration option APT::Clean-Installed will prevent installed packages from being erased if it is set to off.
