@vebaba Compacting is really a short-term solution for most. You'll likely have to delete some documents soon. I saw you mention OpenHumans so you may have already, but please donate them before deleting!
@danamlewis Did the nightscout folks ever get the uploader updated to add-to rather than replace with additional uploads? I'm coming up on that time soon here again.

good evening. We are just about ready to start up OpenAPS, and while it is probably in right in front of my face, I don't see the method of how to set the target BG levels. Can I just edit the settings/bg_targets.json (both raw hex and targets sections), or is there a command?

target BGs are set in your pump. Most ppl set the range to the same numbers (I have mine set to 5.2 to 5.2 for example)

Thank you, @cameronrenwick ! I had talked myself into that being the answer earlier today, but couldn't find enough confirmation to be sure.

oneplus 5T, master 0.6.0, xdrip+ : I really need help with trouble shooting my BT tethering connection with my rig and android as i think its an issue with my script not with my set up or phone. I have followed the set up of BT tethering exactly, I can trouble shoot via the documents and activate a connection between my phone and the rig (it displays the BT tethering symbol on my phone), and i follow the trouble shooting but it does not connect by BT tethering on my phone when cued.... leaes refer to pic as I did the steps

quick question. I had auto sense turned off when I ran the oref0-setup.sh script, but in the log files, it looks like autosense is still turned on?

We need it off because we are just starting the pump up, and it made the calculations off of incomplete data...

You can also set the min and max to a narrower range (as narrow as 1-1) in preferences.json for now.

@scottleibrand ... do you have any ide a about my wifi issue.... or can you tell me who is the expert with BT tethering on here?

Dec 24 2017 05:59
Nope. There are lots of us who can help you follow the docs, or help you manually run the same commands that oref0-online runs. But none of us really understand all the nuances of why BT tethering sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t: we have just figured out by trial and error the steps to try, and either put them into the docs or into oref0-online.
With Wi-Fi it’s similar: there are some common mistakes, and some things to verify, but if your config is all correct they’re mostly things that oref0-online does automatically as needed.
One thing you really have to do when troubleshooting connectivity is to sit patiently with the rig connected over console to a laptop and watch oref0-online (or try troubleshooting commands) as you move in and out of range of things. That is usually too awkward for most people to do, but it’s the only real way to see what is really going on.

@scottleibrand oref0-online? sorry do you mean the log? Ok, do you think you could tell me which commands I should use to try and trouble shoot BT issues, and what to watch for to display it is and is not working? I have no issue taking the time to trouble shoot this... right now I am have some spare time so I want to utilize it!

I’m in bed now, but take a look at the bin/oref0-online.sh script in the oref0 repo to see what it does (what you see in the wifi log)
Most commands in a bash script like that can be run manually at a command prompt: the only thing you have to modify is any variables (like your MAC address, etc.)

@laurathiessen can you post the output from the commands below:

sudo killall bluetoothd
sudo /usr/local/bin/bluetoothd --experimental &

Wait 10 seconds, then:

sudo hciconfig hci0 name $HOSTNAME
bluetoothctl

At the bluetoothctl prompt, issue:

power off
power on
discoverable on
scan on
agent on
default-agent
when I was trying to get my BT tethering going the other day, the bluetoothctl wasn't producing the "normal" output. Once I got that fixed, the tethering started working.
Normal is something like this:

I was getting an error registering the agent, and none of the [NEW] or [CHG] lines were showing up.

@laurathiessen Can you do crontab -l and check that your BT MAC address is correct in there? It has to be all uppercase.

Usually means doesn't have internet connectivity - make sure rig is online first
Also with going from 0.5.5 to 0.6.0 I'd recommend a fresh install (using the script ) instead of runagain since so much has changed @Jieseldeep

Thanks Dana, I believe that both the rig and the laptop have internet connectivity. And I started with the oref0-setup command. Is that what you meant?
I have the rig getting internet through my phone's hotspot, since I have unlimited data on the phone and it's always with me out in the field. I get my CGM data from xdrip, so, if I understand correctly, that makes my rig mostly independent of internet connection. Nightscout gets data from the rig whenever the phone has connectivity, but when it's lacking, OpenAPS still works.
...oh, and of course I know the laptop has connectivity, as I'm typing on it...

fatal: unable to connect to github.com: github.com: Name or service not known
means you definitely don't have full Internet connectivity on the rig. a ping github.com or ping google.com will likely give you the same error
Jieseldeep
@Jieseldeep
Dec 24 2017 22:05
Yes, same error, trying the wifi setup bash script now

hmm, I get this:

Attempting to bring up wlan0:

ifdown: interface wlan0 not configured
wpa_supplicant: /sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start
run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant exited with return code 1
Failed to bring up wlan0.

I don't have security on our wifi...we live out in the boonies with no nearby neighbors, does that mean I just leave the password blank?

For the offline looping where you connect to the rigs hotspot through your phone, how do you determine what the password is the lot into the rigs hotspot? I tried my rigs password and it didnt work
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Dec 24 2017 22:51
You determine it by reading the docs :)
It's explained in the preferences page with the detail of the offline hotspot preference

@Jieseldeep no, you need the key_mgmt none line that's in the docs somewhere
