Hi. ..as I asked on Looped (fb), OpenAPS isn't looping anymore and I have that error message : ' retry 0 (Do you need to run 'export RFSPY_RTSCTS
=0' first?)'..What am I suppose to do to fix it, please ? Thank you ! (My Edison
Is firmly connected to the explorer board)
And I see that the BT connexion became really tricky. .no problem before. ..
Thank you very much ;-)

as to the RFSPY part, I would recommend you re flash - erase and flash - the explorer. see http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Resources/troubleshooting.html (search for ccprog) - as to BT connection, I have no good ideas… Reboot after flashing

I have a TI radio stick with an Edison rig on a Sparkfun board. I've started getting what seems like random USB disconnects of the radio stick a couple of times a day. At the time of the disconnect, dmesg shows:

usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 6

If I unplug it and plug it back in, it comes back up without any issues. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot further? I've tried two different radio sticks now, and they both seem to have the issue. I've got a second Edison, but haven't finished configuring it.

Hi, I am trying to reflash one edison and flash a new one with Jubilinux. After successfully flashing both and connecting them to the internet. I run the wifi and oref0-setup scripts . Everytime I do it, if fails near the end with:

hi, i´ve been running openaps for around 6 months. Recently every in a while stops working due to lack space. I tried all mentioned here, delete logs, apt-clean ..all that. after I delete logs it starts to work again but after a week or so same problem. directory dev root is always at 100% and after I delete logs and everything maybe some space left but never as it was before (66% more o less). I really don't know what happened and why I have this problem now. anyone know what file can I safely delete ?? or how to make a periodical delete of logs automatically without connect my rig to the computer?. thank you

@Lillycgm Have you tried the ncdu tool? https://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Resources/troubleshooting.html?highlight=ncdu

You can delete everything in logs if you dont need it. I am currently testing a few small changes to logrotate to prevent the logfiles from becoming too big.

Anyone give me any hints of best ways to ssh into rigs now that the new IOS for Apple often times doesn't show you the name or manufacturer of the device? I have a scanner but trying the zillion ip addresses is getting old. I apologize if this has already been addressed somewhere and I missed it. Using an iphone and a mac

Use a network scanning tool to see what addresses are active on the local subnet. If you scan for port 22 it will show which devices have the ssh port open

@danamlewis A day or two ago there was a Facebook conversation about oref0 zero-temping some people after breakfast where you suggested we post screenshots here to continue the discussion. Given that I'm rarely online at the same time as those of you who understand the workings of oref0 0.6.0 well-enough to have a conversation, I thought I'd raise openaps/oref0#888 as a way of keeping it together. I'd really appreciate understanding why oref0 sets those zero temps for me.
@davidkeddydb Do you have the opportunity to get your wifi router to statically assign the same IP to the rig?
David
@davidkeddydb
Jan 05 2018 15:14
@endafarrell I literally don't know how. A guess is if I determine the macid I can then tell the router to assign based on that?
Enda Farrell
@endafarrell
Jan 05 2018 15:15
@davidkeddydb Are we speaking about your own Wifi at home (where you might be able to make changes yourself), or are we talking about offices, schools, other places where you would need to contact someone else?
if it's a home setup, do you know the make and model of your wifi router?
not all have the features needed to do this, but some do.
David
@davidkeddydb
Jan 05 2018 15:17
@endafarrell Actually both. I have a wireless access point set up off my main router at work and then I have a router at home. the access point at work and router at home are the same and both netgear wndr 3800

@davidkeddydb IPNetMonitorX is a good scanning tool. But one problem I have found when tethered thru iPhone on BT and maybe on WiFi is that routes among devices on your hotspot network do not seem to work
Enda Farrell
@endafarrell
Jan 05 2018 15:20
@davidkeddydb Then, armed with the MAC of the wifi of the rig, try https://kb.netgear.com/25722/How-do-I-reserve-an-IP-address-on-my-NETGEAR-router

@endafarrell Thank you. Thanks @mhaeberli I use Netanalyzer and inet on the iphone. It worked great until the recent IOS update. Net Analyzer even had a note on their scanner that it is not them making the change but a change to IOS. All way beyond me.

okay... so I'm still having problems using ssh to login to my edisons via my computer but not with Terminus... thoughts on where to start troubleshooting? I've tried hardwiring into the computer too... the passwords that work from Terminus don't work from my computer... I'm stumped
really inconvenient because I recently had to get a new phone/therefore need to update my bluetooth settings, but wanted to do that via my laptop and not typing into terminus...

Does anyone know of either a source for Edisons or what the new direction is for OpenAPS as far as a replacement? I finally have the money to replace my screwed up Edison and SparkFun, AdaFruit, Amazon... nothing. I found a used on on Amazon that I think might work...

Ebay
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 05 2018 20:49
@tnharvey a bunch of people are still finding them as kits
so I'd also look for kits (e.g. edison + some kind of breakout board), and then you can resell the breakout board..
also try asking on NextDoor, Craigslist, etc...
otherwise, we'll be going the Pi (cheaper) + HAT route in the next few months
so your call on whether you want another Edison+EB or you want a Pi+HAT to be your next rig
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:50
pi zero?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 05 2018 20:50
yea, or Pi3
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 05 2018 20:51
the Explorer HAT will work with either, so pi zero will be best for mobile rigs, but pi 3 will be faster for plugged-in ones
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:52
I assume it's a little larger than the explorer+Edison, is the pi zero slow enough to be a problem?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 05 2018 20:52
it'll be annoyingly slow when running oref0-setup, but should loop fine
if you want you can run setup on a pi 3 and then switch the SD card to a zero for mobility
Dave Acklam
@dcacklam
Jan 05 2018 20:53
Pi Zero is negligably larger, and I have looped with one (Before I fried it trying to solder it to a lipo battery board) using a carelink for a radio
I ran setup on a pi3
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:53
Oh that's fine, I can deal with a slow setup as long as it looks fine.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 05 2018 20:54
the prototype EH's are about 1cm wider than the Pi zero (for antenna). future version may use an external whip antenna instead to allow us to match the pi zero form factor
biggest problem will be power use: it'll require a bigger battery for reasonable life
pi zero is just not as efficient as the Edison
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:55
Does the pi setup mean going back to mmeowlink/carelink as well?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 05 2018 20:56
mmeowlink and carelink are not the same thing
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:56
Hahah, I said "looks fine" I mean "loops fine"
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 05 2018 20:56
you're using mmeowlink for any non-carelink set up right now
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 20:56
No, I know, but I had a some sort of board, I forget what, as a radio instead of carelink. I still have it around here somewhere.
From before the explorer board
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 05 2018 20:57
yea. it used mmeowlink. (that's software to help the radio stick talk to the pump)
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 21:02
K, so hardware wise, I would just order a pi zero, SD card, battery, some sort of case, and then need to solder the radio I have?
Jon Cluck
@cluckj
Jan 05 2018 21:05
a TI stick?
Dave Acklam
@dcacklam
Jan 05 2018 21:06

@tnharvey

No, it doesn't require a carelink.
However I do not have any other working radio devices (Can't get my SRF flashed yet), so I used my carelink stick because the alternative was no looping due to dead edison hardware

The current options for PI based rigs are:

Carelink
Ciseco Slice of Radio (Pi GPIO 'hat' board), or ERF/XRF USB stick (if you can find one & flash it with subg_rfspy)
The original 'TI stick' USB device (you will also have to flash this with subg_rfspy firmware)

The 'Explorer Hat' (think explorer board but for raspi GPIO instead of edison) is likely the future, but they are not for sale yet
Neal
@tnharvey
Jan 05 2018 21:26
@dcacklam ah, that's what I have lying around somewhere, an XRF. It was running on the old Edison breakout, but I had switched to the explorer+Edison because my Edison is corrupted/damaged. Is there a timeline for availability of the explorer hat?

Dear OpenAPS community, a big THANK YOU for developing OpenAPS and the clear instructions! I have recently closed the loop for my 10yr-old T1D son. Its really great. in the night his values are perfect now while we are sleeping! For daytime use we are still testing. Koen (the Netherlands)
One thing I did not get working yet on my edison/explorerboard setup: Offline looping using G5 receiver with OTG-USB to Rig. Connected as described in the docs, OTG on OTG, UART to wall charger. As soon as wall charger is plugged, the G5 receiver starts to charge. Rig works normally with Wifi and BT tether. But when G5 receiver plugged to Rig (and Iphone switched off), no BG values come through in NS.
In this setup the Rig is still on wifi. I want to use this during the night, because the G5 receiver is more reliable than the Iphone for collecting the BG values from G5 sensor. I have tried 2 dif OTG cables, and also switched the rig off and on again (while G5 receiver was connected via OTG). Any ideas what could be the problem here? Or is it not supposed to work like this? THX!!
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 05 2018 22:02
yes, it should work that way. does lsusb show any devices, or just the -99 error?
also try reversing the direction of the OTG cable if you're getting power but no data (-99)
StressedOutDad

Jan 05 2018 22:31
Thanks Scott. Yes I get the -99 error. Also no luck with reversing the cable.
StressedOutDad
@StressedOutDad
Jan 05 2018 22:37
correction: OTG in G5: then I get -99 error. OTG in Rig: then I find Device 001 linux (Bus 001 and Bus 002) and Device 002 (Bus 001)
```
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 22a3:0047
That is strange. If it were working properly you'd see something else in between "Radio ok. Listening" and "Listening for 40s silence before mmtuning" to indicate what the error is. Are you using an Explorer Board, or some other kind of radio?
