has anyone here experimented with using the raspberry pi compute module (https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/compute-module-3-launch/) for an AP?

Not that I know of. ERD is making an Explorer HAT for the Pi Zero W (and Pi 3) though.

So tragically, my rig fell in the toilet while I forgetfully had it in my sweatshirt pocket :(
From what I hear, it's pretty hard to get a new Edison now?

More importantly -is this still the best combo of hardware, or is the Explorer Board for Pi Zero worth the wait?

@ruess pretty easy if you look in Ebay
There are 100 Explorer Boards left from Hamshield
I'd order one now (ship in 2 weeks) vs waiting for April ship of Pi HATs

Thanks @danamlewis
I found one with the description of: EDI2.SPON.AL.S
would you say that's equivalent to the one listed in the docs as: 2-EDI2.SPON ?

So... I figured out why my Zero was so slow... The SDcard I was using, was the one I was running in my pi3 and I had underclocked it to save battery.
A pi3 can handle openaps at 500mhz just fine. A pi zero w struggles at 1000
It was running at 500 and barely staying alive/keeping up...
(this is all 0.61dev with SRF for radio.... Unrelated to the new hat stuff)
Also, I managed to get the old Edison to come back for about 30min... But it's definitely not viable for long term use....
Might be able to get my 712 code back

Hey @scottleibrand - the ERD Pi explorer board you were referring to earlier, is this the one? https://enhanced-radio-devices.myshopify.com/products/900mhz-explorer-hat?variant=1950212653065
With an availability around April?

@dcacklam after getting everything set up with Go, I was able to underclock the Pi Zero to 500MHz and still get 3m loops. Wouldn’t want to do that during install or oref0-setup though. :smile:

Good morning. I'm trying to run Autotune on a Mac. I'm getting this...

Dave Acklam
@dcacklam
Feb 11 2018 17:41

@scottleibrand
At present I'm getting 4-7min loops on the legacy code, overclocked to 1100mhz with votlage-step 5...

The rig I am using now can only interface over serial (it uses the GPIO-header serial port), so I don't know how that will work with the next gen stuff you guys are building in Go...

I have a 'better' pump/clock time-sync routine to PR now, which prevents un-needed clock syncs when the CPU is heavily loaded...
The only other change I am looking at, is moving the pump-model check from oref0-pump-loop, to a once-an-hour cron-job (similar to how you do 'git fetch')...
That should speed the loop up a bit, as it will be doing preflight off of settings/model.json rather than running an openaps-report invoke...

Hello experienced flashers.. .Trouble with my windows pc flashing jubilinux onto edison. Yesterday i had unrecognized error after flashall.bat command and today Putty is not seeing my edison at all. Ive already mixed and purchased cables and ensured data conn. Is it fried? Any help or a point in the right direction would be great.
I'm setting up a different laptop and updating windows 8. This machine has 6G of RAM.

@scottleibrand
Comment answered.
Also, have another one to post after that, with regards to speeding up preflight.
(Same sort of thing, reduces call-outs in favor of bash builtins & cuts down the call for the 'model' report to once-an-hour or if the settings/model.js file is corrupt/missing)

Effective cycle time of the modified loop is 4m 20s while actively calculating/setting temps... 6m 20s with SMB delivery...
Although based on what I am seeing from syslog, I may have to back off the overclocking a little...
my CPU temp is 54 C, so not atrocious. A heat sink is in use, but there's not really any ventillation inside the current deck-of-cards enclosure

Hi, I'm struggling with creating an additional rig, I flashed the edison and put it on a brand new explorer board. It still won't loop and says that the radio failed. I reflashed the explorer board (after re-doing the Oref0 set up several times) and its still not working, I'm getting this error root@edison3:~# killall -g oref0-pump-loop; openaps mmtune Not an openaps environment, run: openaps init
any advice for next steps?>

and, when I reboot, I now see the following errors, what do these mean?

when I run openaps init, I get the following: root@edison3:~# openaps init Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/openaps", line 170, in <module> app( ) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/openaps/cli/__init__.py", line 51, in __call__ self.run(self.args) File "/usr/local/bin/openaps", line 155, in run builtins.dispatch(args, self) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/openaps/builtins.py", line 44, in dispatch command(args) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/openaps/init.py", line 6, in init if args.args[1] == '--nogit': IndexError: list index out of range

Hi guys. I asked it a few days ago but I’ve not seen someone answering. So I give it another try. :-) Does someone know what this error means and how I could get rid of it? Currently I am not able to get profile upload running as it does before reinstallig my rig.

@CaptainBalou you need the backtick `

It goes the opposite slang of the forward quote. On iPhone, hold down the apostrophe key and the backtick will be on the left of the row that pops up. On computer keyboard, the backtick is near the number on key..with the tilda ~

@danamlewis geez, i should have noticed that! I've been staring at this too long. So, maybe the explorer board isn't bad? For some reason it just spontaneously started looping with the change in the explorer board, maybe it was a just a coincidence
Dana Lewis

Feb 11 2018 23:14
@CaptainBalou when does that error show up? In your loop logs, or after what command?
@KS615 probably coincidence. Remember 20 minute rule :) but either way, you can swap it back to test the board again

@danamlewis , I waited hours (actually did the initial install yesterday) and it never looped, but maybe there was something else wrong or maybe the last reinstall of oref finally took and I didn't wait long enough after that one, I'll try to swap it out later to try again after I get the developer version and edit my preferences.
thanks

@KS615 k. Ya whenever you're ready, since it's looping now and you know the edison is good, it should be easy to swap and know in <~30 minutes if it's the board. Could also have been loose, etc
