ok, hopefully my last question with this rig...trying to start papertrail and I'm at the end of the instructions, I'm at the section to install autorestart. I got the following error, root@edison3:~/myopenaps/remote_syslog# systemctl enable remote_syslog.service Failed to execute operation: Bad message
do i have a typo or something there? I'm sure its something simple that I'm just not seeing

Curious if I just want to generally enable SMB, would "enableSMB_always"=true enable all of the below preference settings for SMB to 'true' or do I have to enable all of them in addition to "enableSMB_always"? Is there some reason you would want to turn on or off these SMB sub elements?

"enableSMB_always", "enableSMB_with_bolus", "enableSMB_with_COB", "enableSMB_with_temptarget", "enableSMB_after_carbs", "enableSMB_after_carbs", "allowSMB_with_high_temptarget"

If there anyway to adjust the > 105 mg/dL high temp target threshold for "exercise_mode" and similarly is there a way to adjust the threshold for for "high_temptarget_raises_sensitivity" and "low_temptarget_lowers_sensitivity"

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 03:22
just do _always
and you could change those in the code, but they're not in preferences
Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 03:24
@danamlewis Ok and I assume that all the other enableSMB switches should therefore NOT be included in your preferences.json file?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 03:24
you can, but _always rules them all so the others are redundant
Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 03:25
ok, any reason I should care about these sub preferences?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 03:25
for SMB? not if you do _always
Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 03:26
right, I meant if you don't do always. I'm trying to understand the use case for enabling/disabling some and not 'all'
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 03:27
oh. depends on if you want to only have SMB for some times vs. all the time
some people find it does too much and only want it when they manually enable it via some of those
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 12 2018 03:29
Also note the allow SMB with high target one.
Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 03:30
hmm, ok. I guess this will be part of the learning curve and experimentation as to what works and doesn't. Seems that discerning what is and isn't working at that level of granularity would be a challenging task.

@scottleibrand > Also note the allow SMB with high target one.

I assume you mean that this is an independent variable from "enableSMB_always"

Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 03:36
@danamlewis Also, what about adjusting the target threshold for "exercise_mode", "high_temptarget_raises_sensitivity" and "low_temptarget_lowers_sensitivity".
If your standard BG target is 120, wouldn't this be a problem with "exercise mode" and "high_temptarget_raises_sensitivity"

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 12 2018 04:12
@cbrenner yes, the allow one is independent of the enable ones. Re: targets, it’s best not to set temp targets in between your normal target and 100 if you want to use any of the sensitivity/resistance mode features.
@dirkgastaldo what error message is in that file?

Scott Leibrand

The invalid numeric literal means there is some non-json error in one of those json files. Probably to do with downloading the file from NS.
Dirk Gastaldo

do you know what is meant by an "invalid numeric literal"?

it usually means that the file isn't even valid json
like for example when you have a curl error message written to your json file instead of json output

Does anyone have any data on radio failures? I’m at work with a single rig and I’ve had 5 SPIDev radio errors in the last 5 hours. I’ve never had these problems with this rig before. Things of note. My pump is quite old and this is the first explorer board I bought. Is it possible that this is an indication of an explorer board failure or a pump failure? I’ll check later when I’m home if the same thing happens there. If it does then it’s clearly a pump issue.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 16:08
Sometimes the Explorer needs the radio to be reprogrammed. Doesn't always mean failure of either thing. Sometimes seems random.

Hej Everyone. I’m trying to install openAps on an edison board (using jubilinux debian). After installing the oref0-setup, I get the error:

Failed to start dnsmasq - A lightweight DHCP and caching DNS server

When I run "sudo systemctl status -l dnsmasq" I get:

Do any of you know how to fix this?
thanks in advances

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 12 2018 18:21
@jkeller518 welcome! depends on what you define as implementation timeline, and how you want to proceed. but generally, you can go from start to finish in ~2-3 hours if you don't run into any snags. depending on a snag, can take longer. (snag could be: don't have a data cable; wrong gear; having to re-try flashing, etc. Some of thoses are just extra minutes, some of them might add more time if you have to try different gear)
but, everyone's different, and some people prefer to do one step a day, for example. Setting up Nightscout in advance is a good idea, because for some people that takes longer than OpenAPS setup itself. but not always. just varies person to person

@dirkgastaldo have you tried running autotune on a date run that excludes the 02-07 that has a bad file?
I would do that next if you haven't
and troubleshoot later why that particular file is bad

Any ideas why Papertrail is no longer logging? I have two rigs logging to Papertrail. One is logging as normal and the other just stopped when my son transitioned from home to school this AM. He moved from our home Wifi to BT tether to School wifi. The rig is still connected (per NS) and working normally but the logging stopped to Papertrail as soon as he appeared to switch to the school Wifi. I've seen this happen before (primarily at school). Could it be they are blocking outbound access to the Papertrail IP or perhaps something else I need to look at?
Eric
@ecc1
Feb 12 2018 21:18
That's possible, since Papertrail seems to use a wide range of ports, many of which might be blocked by the school's firewall. But also double-check that you're looking for "events from all systems" on the PT site, since they will be coming from a different IP than it had at home.
Craig Brenner
@cbrenner
Feb 12 2018 21:54
@ecc1 looked at events from all systems and doesn't show up. PT also creating systems by rig name versus IP so IP shouldn't have any impact. Been running PT for the past year on rigs w/o any issues going in and out of various networks.

Where does NS get it's alarm data from? For testing: I have the profile within NS set to low and high of 68-170, in heroku's env vars I have 45 and 180, and on my pump I have 84-140. Despite that, NS is alarming (yellow, and sending said alarm to my Nightscouter app) at 134 - which although is fair to call a 'little high' and worth of a yellow and some correction from OpenAPS, it is within All of the ranges that I have set. Shouldn't that make it green and not alarming? <3 Thanks for any advice on this.
fidoman
@efidoman
Feb 12 2018 23:52
@Cfomodz - I'm not familiar with the nightscouter app, but my guess is that the alarm may be in the settings in that app (nightscouter). Most apps I use that interface to Nightscout have their own alarm thresholds. I use Nightguard on IOS and it has alarm thresholds in settings.
