I’m seeing ‘openaps offline > 6 hours’ but also seeing boluses, etc much more recent. Also at least a few successful mmtunes in the 6 hour interval. (Seeing this via cgm-remote-monitor). Just tried restarting all dynos. Didn’t seem to help. Suggestions?

Gonna try battery replacement on g5 tomorrow. Going to try replacing with a small lipo...sorry slightly off topic.

Hi - after troubleshooting (trying to Flash the Edison) I've made progress. I edited flashall.sh to the correct device ID, and I was able to get past "rescue mode" and also changed the u-boot environment variable. The bad news is that now the script has run continuously for 15min, has rebooted about 30 times, and I had to interrupt it. What next?

@scottleibrand @scottleibrand if your BG dropped and required a lot of zero temping, or if you under-bolused and it didn't rise, then it will think you still have COB, yes there is a min_5m_carbimpact that ensures a minimum level of carb absorption even when BG doesn't indicate any you should also check whether your CR is accurate: see if autotune recommends raising it
I still don't understand a logic behind that, If I under-bolused or my BG is didn't rise, why it thinks that I have COB? According to my understanding, it means, that I ate less then annonced to openaps and according to my logic, openaps should reduce COB to zero as soon as possible, so it should increase carbs absorbtion rate

I enabled Offline_Hotspot but i cant find it on network connections. The SSID is not broadcasting. Is there another setting i need to tweak in my rig for it to work

@danamlewis Could us some help. borked wifi settings, was trying to test whether or not the rig can access the interweb via my phone so deleted all the networks in the wpa_supplicant.conf file -- except for my phone hotspot info and am able to connect to my phone. I also see the Bluetooth connection "BlueZ 5.23" ., - using a serial terminal on my MAC - couldnt get in any other way (thanks @jpcunningh ) Wifi (hotspot included) still won't work though. Went to rerun setup fresh this AM and got:
Removing any existing git
Removed any existing git
Checking openaps 0.2.1 installation with --nogit support
openaps 0.2.1-dev
Checking /root/myopenaps: mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/root/myopenaps’: File exists
/root/myopenaps initialized
/root/src/decocare/ already exists; pulling latest 0.1.0-dev
fatal: unable to connect to github.com:
github.com: Name or service not known
Couldn't pull latest decocare 0.1.0-dev
What do I need to do?

Usually means rig is not online and can't pull the update. Might want to start over, or make sure rig is online via phone hotspot first then rerun

Success! hi all, just wanted to give f/u that this AM i started fresh and succeeded in flashing the Edison - yay! I ended up finding some issues based on the Troubleshooting guide that may have helped... one was the device ID (troubleshooting step g) and then troubleshooting step h. Also had to double check my serial port connection and use a more specific screen mode call (screen –L /dev/cu.usbserial-A903JW3S 115200 –L) (not my real device ID)... THANK YOU for assisting...

@garykidd It is rather simple to expose the batteries on a G4/G5. Just be careful with the thin metal "connector" tabs. They are delicate and sometimes present a challenge. I was ultimately successful a few times, once with solder and once with super glue, but have also ordered a "recycled" G5 from one of the FB groups. It was good as well. All the best!

@Sydgimi82 I'd start over here then: http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Build%20Your%20Rig/edison-install.html (copy and paste to run wifi and set up scripts) to re-do your wifi file and try from there

one stupid question: why does Target in OpenAps pill vary, i.e. have other values than set in the pump (and NS) even if there's no temp target?

Autosens can adjust targets, depending on your settings

@Diadon81 you’re assuming that carb absorption rate/time is always constant, and that carb amounts are what vary the most. We’ve actually observed that the speed of carb absorption varies more, and that people’s total carb estimates tend to be pretty accurate. So when we see BG rising slower than expected, we assume that is because the carbs are absorbing slower, and that they will still hit at some point. If they don’t, then min_5m_carbimpact will eventually decay them, and other aspects of the oref0 algorithm will avoid dosing too aggressively for COB that isn’t absorbing in the mean time. This dynamic carb absorption algorithm allows oref0 to successfully deal with wide fluctuations in both carb absorption rates and carb estimates.
If you’re seeing COB estimates that remain non-zero after you’re sure the meal is completely absorbed, you should first look at whether CR needs to be raised. Autotune can help with determining that. If that looks correct, you can raise min_5m_carbimpact. I think the default used to be 3 mg/dL/5m, and has more recently been raised to 8.

I'm only "sure" the meal has really full absorbed if I feel hungry (e.g. Stomach is empty). So sometimes carbs do hang out for a while even when you would intuitively "think" they'd otherwise be gone.

@scottleibrand thank you for your reply, just one more thing to clarify, when you say CR should be raised is it mean that I should increase amount of carbs per 1u of insulin?
@scottleibrand and one more question, when the pump on suspend does COB and IOB absorption work the same way?

will offline_hotsot work if you have anything in your wpa_supplicant.conf. I have my home network and my hotspot setup configured. I had it enabled all day and cannot find the SSID on my computer ar phone.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 16 2018 19:13 UTC
@peterfulvi the offline hotspot should only activate when you're away from known wifi and don't have Internet via Bluetooth tethering
@Diadon81 yes, COB calculation works the same regardless of pump suspends (except to the extent that they represent zero insulin delivery, which gets incorporated into IOB).
right: raising CR means increasing it from say 10 (g/U) to 12 (g/U), thereby making the pump and the loop less aggressive in how much insulin they think will eventually be needed for a given quantity of carbs
