Pump pill reads 301.9U 1.45v 3m ago error - why error? should she prime to dump 2 units, or is it likely something else?

I am trying to get a better understanding of how the openAPS system makes decisions by looking at as much data as my head can cope with and am a little confused by the openAPS pill in NS. The confusion concerns units. The BG is being shown in mg/dl yet the ISF and other figures look as though they are using mmol/l. Is that right? My home system is in mmol/l but I would have expected one set of units for the calculations.

Happy Thursday everyone -- we've started having lots of comm issues with one of our Edisons. I've reseated/tightened the boards together but it's still not great. I'm looking to purchase an antenna (ref: http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Customize-Iterate/usability-considerations.html?highlight=antenna) and just want to make sure I know which one to purchase. We're in the US, which I believe means the 915Mhz antenna, but I wanted to double check. Thanks. :)

Hello everyone. I'm having troubles with my Nightscout site. Every time I try to access on Chrome, I get this (See above)
In Firefox, I get this:

In Chrome, when I enter the API secret, I get 'Wrong API secret' in a pop message. I have checked the Heroku settings and the API secret hasn't changed

Everything in oref0 is calculated in mg/dL and then converted for display. If there’s something not being properly converted, check dev, and if it’s the same there, see if you can find it in the code to add the convert call there.

@Alzibiff I know. i have my own local server running, set it up for debugging the autosense feature ,i had one already for other things, so that was easer and faster to configure. But that is also a good one to write a tutorial for.

Apr 19 2018 19:06
@alimhassam How odd! My build was only done a few weeks ago - I'm running oref0. Good to read @scottleibrand comments though, that all calcs are done in mg/dl and that a missing display conversion has not effect on what is underneath the bonnet. (Hood?)

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Apr 19 2018 19:11
@Alzibiff the one important exception to that, as you/someone noted, is that temp targets entered via IFTTT etc. need to be in mg/dL, as they don't have units. (I wonder if it'd be worth PR'ing in some logic that looks for targets of < 20 and automatically multiplies them by 18 on the assumption that they must be mmol/L...)
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Apr 19 2018 19:11
@statuur No worries :smile: so: different browsers when you run the report as-is from the branch yield different results. We need someone to figure out why that's happening to be able to fix it.

Auto-unit-conversion would make me nervous, since it gets people into the habit of not checking what units things are supposed to be in, and entering something in the wrong units in a place that doesn't have auto-conversion or sanity checks could be disastrous

Hi! I'm trying to loop for the first time and keep getting this cycle but loop doesn't start. it looks like its not getting access to my glucose, but when I check on noghtscout its working just fine. Hope someone can help me. Thank you @scottleibrand @danamlewis
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Apr 19 2018 19:18
in the case of temp targets, the allowable ranges are extremely non-overlapping. we allow targets in the 80-200 mg/dL range, which is 4.4 - 11.1 mmol/L. So it's safer to assume that if someone puts in a target of 8, they meant 144 mg/dL, rather than capping it at 80 mg/dL. (We might also want to reject, rather than cap, targets that are way out of range. If someone enters 60, capping them at 80 mg/dL makes sense. But if they enter 30, maybe best to just ignore it...
James Babcock
@jimrandomh
Apr 19 2018 19:18
Oh, capping (as opposed to rejecting) is definitely bad
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Apr 19 2018 19:19
right now it's the same logic for temp targets and pump targets, and you can't really reject a pump target
I suppose you could refuse to loop entirely, or reset the target to 120 or something, but that seems less than ideal for someone who sets a target of say 70
James Babcock
@jimrandomh
Apr 19 2018 19:20
The person who sets a target of 70 should probably get a Pushover notification for it
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Apr 19 2018 19:22
pushover doesn't have to be configured, so we don't rely on it for "your settings might be wrong" messages
James Babcock
@jimrandomh
Apr 19 2018 19:23
What reliable alert channels are there? People are supposed to monitor log files, but it's easy to miss things there.
Does Nightscout have an API endpoint for "generic string as alert"?
(If not, that's worth adding)
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Apr 19 2018 19:25
there aren't any. we can't/don't rely on "alert the user" as a key safety mechanism. we do our best if that's better than doing nothing, and fall back to normal pump operation if we can't
even if we created a generic NS alert, we couldn't rely on that either

Apr 19 2018 19:36
@micheliseferian What kind of CGM are you using, and how does data reach the OpenAPS rig? (Eg, is it a G4 connected to the rig by USB, or an Enlite that sends its data to the pump, or Dexcom Share, etc)
micheliseferian
@micheliseferian
Apr 19 2018 19:38
@jimrandomh g5, dexcom share
James Babcock
@jimrandomh
Apr 19 2018 19:38
@scottleibrand If someone sets a target of 70 but the limit is >80, seems like the ideal would be to cap it and send an alert. That way missing the alert isn't disastrous, but if someone does it habitually they'll find out that they can't do that eventually.
@micheliseferian Is your G5 data visible in Nightscout?
micheliseferian
@micheliseferian
Apr 19 2018 19:39
@jimrandomh yes
James Babcock
@jimrandomh
Apr 19 2018 19:40
@micheliseferian Ok, then I'd focus on the pump communications issue next; once that's working there might be a second issue to debug, but it's fairly likely to just start looping
@micheliseferian The log output is quite confusing, but it doesn't necessarily indicate any problem with getting BGs, just a problem with pump comms

James Babcock

Apr 19 2018 20:58

@statuur I think this is the discussion Scott referred to: nightscout/cgm-remote-monitor#3191

It does not run at all in Firefox/Win10 for me.

There are significant discrepancies between the results on the rig and in Chrome. There may be factors like insulin curve (I assumed that Nightscout Autotune would use rapid-acting since this is the default curve in OpenAPS) and different handling of time zones between Nightscout and rig.
I wonder whether Nightscout might have a bigger time zone issue, after all it seems to wrongly identify treatments as future treatments for everyone east of UTC.
