ah, i see. thanks @ecc1. openaps can't really handle it, it panics if it encounters it
it did change, since openaps changed it automatically to be wrong
so I changed the date on the rig and on the receiver

"openaps changed it automatically to be wrong"?
how exactly was it wrong? wrong hour? a few minutes off?
if only the hours were off, but the minutes were right, check what timezone do you have the rig set to

by about 40 minutes
power was abruptly cut off to the rig

the rig should never set the device time unless it is sync'd with network time, so it shouldn't be possible for it to set the wrong time
so I'd be interested to understand how that happened

That sounds like something worth fixing.

the dexcom Go code should still do something sane here. there are no explicit "time change" records like on MDT pumps, but there are distinct "system time" and "display time" for each record; when you change the time, only the display time changes

I should probably use the internal system time field for deciding whether things are truly "close" to one another or out of order

@woodtrevor @tim2000s Got a reply back on easytether, and no way to get a local IP on device. I can likely work around by using hotspot on my phone as looks like samsung added a wifi-sharing mode to it that would allow me to keep in running when on wi-fi (it actually bridges the wifi to the device, but device connects to phone hotspot ssid). Doing some testing to see how that is on battery vs easytether.
I have also been looking at https://www.realvnc.com/ which has a teamviewer/logmein type of service that would give remote access to the rig without having to know/have direct access to an IP address. Was trying teamviewer, but looks like they only have an arm7 version, and pi zero needs arm6. Will write up some docs if I get the vnc solution working.

Pi 0 W is ARMv7
Raspbian with Desktop has preinstalled VNC server and it works perfectly

@iValkou thanks for link, will play around with it later tonight.
Also found a way to disable the HDMI output and save some additional power (about 25mA). Just need to run '/usr/bin/tvservice -o'. This is for raspberry pi zero. worth adding to the docs?

Check if that is already being run automatically in oref0 dev
