I’m trying to resurrect an edison rig that failed on me a month ago with a full ‘disk’ … for some reason, it doesn’t want to connect on the wlan, nor on bluetooth.
can’t find bnep0 ;
suggestions on how to make wlan work from command line - crawl / walk / run would be appreciated. wpa_supplicant.conf is already configured but that’s not helping either.

can you use the serial console?

Yes
But that’s about all I can do

@scottleibrand I already have the EH bud I think it's gone get broken quite soon. And for me it is a bit to expensive to replace. And because I have no need for the screen and butens I wondered if there is a cheap way to make a pi work for a medtronic pump. I can use a soldering iron so that's not a problem

@Arnoud82 you can put together a pretty cheap rig with an rfm69, check in the hardware-dev channel history for pinouts

I have a perfectly working Medtronic 723 with version 3.0B firmware (US) I am looking to sell. Any recommendations on where I can list this item for those interested in the T1 OpenAPS community?

You can use an RFM69HCW breakout board from Adafruit or Sparkfun plus a LiPo charger module, about $20 in parts if you're OK with a mess of wires. Or check out @juehv 's carrier board for those, in the hardware-dev room
@rickuser_twitter it's not usable for openaps or Loop, so I'd suggest another forum

thanks! I know the firmware wont work for full OpenAPS but it was listed as a Read Only pump, which people might in the community might want. Thanks for the help everyone

Interesting diy project @juehv, how does the radio range and battery life compare to the hat type rig?
Jens Heuschkel
@juehv
Sep 22 2018 17:21
battery life is actually A LOT better (like twice the time) with Li-Ion batteries
range depends on the used antenna ... I tried two chip antennas which both give me like 1 meter range and a simple lambda antenna (piece of wire) wich gave me a little more
I already work on v2 where the range will be better and the batterie is chargeable in circuit

@Ebgineer

I think that range is about the same as what I'm getting with my pi/hat, although I haven't tested the max limit

I started using antennas from drone racing which gave me better range (5 meter or so)

iirc lower frequency improves range and decreases bandwidth
but you're limited to the frequency used by the pump

yea the pump already uses a pretty low frenquency, but has not much transmision power...

I'm having trouble with my initial openAPS setup. At first I was successfully communicating with my Raspberry Pi through a VM terminal: I set the root and pi account passwords, ran the curl -s command, and waited for about 30 minutes while stuff happened. Then a strange menu came up asking me about some kind of ssh configuration file, but I couldn't choose any of the options -- this apparently froze my VM (which I've been having a lot of problems with, anyway). So, I tried using PuTTY. I successfully logged in, but then when I tried to run the curl -s command, I got the following error:
debconf: DbDriver "config": /var/cache/debconf/config.dat is locked by another p rocess: Resource temporarily unavailable
Does anyone understand what happened there?

And now, upon a second attempt, this:

E: Failed to fetch http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/dists/stretch/main/binary-armhf/Packages Connection timed out
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

I am totally lost...

@MarvelousMarvin it's @juehv 's project, not mine
I wrote the software for the RFM69 support, so when you're ready to set it up I'll help if I can
