oh and while i'm here, would anything go wrong if i removed the screen from the hat? i don't use it and it would be a nice thing to know if i can take off before working on a fully custom case
Jon Cluck
@cluckj
Nov 18 2018 00:11
It should keep working; why do you want to remove it?

smaller rig means smaller case, and i'm going to 3d print it with translucent filament so i can see the LEDs for battery/charging etc through the case, and having the screen on would make that harder.

If I add a second wifi network to my pi-hat rig it will no longer connect to any wireless network following the directions found here: https://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Customize-Iterate/on-the-go-wifi-adding.html
If I comment out the second network, by removing the sd card and editing the wpa_supplicant.conf file. The rig will connect to the first network again. I am trying to add my phone's wireless hotspot, since tmobile has removed the ability to use the bluetooth hotspot.

if I have autotune directories from multiple rigs that have not always been on - or have been used at different times - is there a clean way to merge them into a grand unified directory moving forward?
Eric

@jgslade you might have a typo in what you added (wpa_supplicant is very unforgiving). If you post a (redacted) copy here, maybe someone can spot the issue
jgslade
@jgslade
Nov 18 2018 03:23
I did find a typo, but here it is.
ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
country=US

network={
     ssid="xxxxxxx"
     psk="xxxxxxxxx"
     key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
}

#network={
#     ssid="xxxxxxx"
#     psk='phoneaps"
#}
We went out for a bit and when we got back my rig woudn't reconnect to the network. I waited 5 minutes, then rebooted and it did not connect to the network again. I'm going to replace the single quote with a double quote and uncomment the second network to see if that fixes the problem.

@mhaeberli you can use rsync for that.

@jgslade
Nov 18 2018 03:33
replacing the single quote did fix the not connecting problem with both networks in the wpa_supplicant file. Thank you.
How do I get it to reconnect to a network after it has lost connection?

@scottleibrand ok, so just rsync all together into one…? thx

@cluckj - thanks for the suggestions yesterday. I ended up just reflashing the edison last night because I could connect to it over USB. Working great again today. seems a system can run good for months and then you go on vacation and it breaks. ;->

My aim is to be able to calculate an hba1c estimate based on an array of those json objects
{ date: 1542541950000, dateString: '2018-11-18T11:52:30.000Z', rssi: 100, direction: 'Flat', rawbg: 127, sgv: 127, type: 'sgv' }
that's the array of json, would be great if someone can point me towards docs/resources that can define those terms
rssi direction rawbg sgc and type
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Nov 18 2018 14:05
@mhaeberli yep. look at the rsync options to decide details like whether to overwrite with newer files etc. you'll need to rsync in both directions to/from each rig
@krokhale have you looked at the Nightscout reports? they do that already.
sgv is the only one that matters for your purposes: that's sensor glucose value. the rssi is receive signal indicator. if the type isn't sgv, there won't be an sgv field (calibration records, etc.)

@krokhale
Nov 18 2018 15:56
@scottleibrand thanks, yes i am awaree of nightscout reports though i was building a more custom nightscout for myself. Does the sgv and rawbg always remain the same? What’s the difference? Also any pointers to the formula to calculate the estimated hba1c based on this data would be really helpful!
Eric
@ecc1
Nov 18 2018 16:28
@krokhale This is the classic paper that relates average glucose to A1C (AG = 28.7*A1C - 46.7): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2742903/ so you can just invert that

suggestions sought on how to debug:

Nov 18 10:00:05 etghopenaps14 cgm-loop.log: Not an openaps environment, run: openaps init

seen now across all newly-flashed, newly-installed dev branch edisons. I went right to dev install. (installs all in last 10 days or so). It’s still looping, but this has me wondering.

If I want to reinstall OpenAPS on my Edison/Explorer, should I reflash the Edison or just reinstall OpenAPS?
Martin Haeberli

Recommendation usually is to back up what you need over a network if you can, then re flash etc (as I best understand it)
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Nov 18 2018 22:08
No need to flash unless you're having a massive problem. For a new version/install, reinstall OpenAPS is fine
