By the way, it seems that a156832 is dev. and only two checkouts far away.
The rig now talks with the pump, and with openaps, but still nothing happens.
My error seems to be something like:
(NOT VALID JSON: empty)
Checking pump status (suspended/bolusing): (NOT VALID JSON: empty)
Couldn't smb_verify_status
oref0-pump-loop failed. pump_loop_completed more than 15m old; waiting for 25 s

Can someone point me to docs on how to hookup the explorer hat + pi zero w + the software stack (which distro and version?). I looked but couldnt find recent docs that are A to Z complete. (I know, I cracked the door on a big argument about look first but I did. Ok I opened the door.)

@tzachi-dar looks like it's not pulling pump settings. Did you try to run manually?

OK, thanks, will give the new rig a few days to run and if all goes well, will try connecting to my son again.
By the way, it seems that something in the openaps setup disables the hdmi output of the pi. Does anyone know how to change that?

I have been noticing recently that there are ChangeTime and NewTimeSet events in my NS every 3-6 hours. It appears that these are generally occurring when a rig on the other side of the apartment that hasn't run a successful loop in a little while and (maybe) has a stale history is identifying a time mismatch, and then updates the time on the pump thinking that it was off, even though it seems like the pump clock was actually right the whole time. Is this a known issue in 0.6.2, or is it possible that there's an actual pump issue here?
i've noticed frequent time changes recently and am wondering if it is exacerbated by the fact that i have three rigs in my apartment and that the layout is such that at any given time i am generally close to 1-2 of them, but the other 1-2 are close enough that they will successfully loop maybe every 45-90 minutes or so
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Nov 26 2018 01:33
I have the same multi rig setup and don't see that happening. I think clock time setting is improved in dev, if you're up for trying that.
So I would say: known issue; try updating one of those rigs to dev & see if that helps (and then if you're fine with that, the rest could go too, or you could save one and power it down during your testing)
live4sw
@live4sw
Nov 26 2018 01:34
wait, known issue that master's clock time check has some quirks?
i am game to try dev on my daytime rig, just hesitant to do so as my current pump seems like it's mayyyybe getting a little tired (had the blank screen issue once or twice so far, now this time thing)
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Nov 26 2018 01:39
Known that it's annoying to some people and I think it's improved in dev, but I don't think everyone's massively annoyed by it?
Time thing can be helped by dev, tired pump I can't help with :/ sorry.

@live4sw
Nov 26 2018 01:44
yup, it's all good. i've just been super fixated on any quirks lately (like the A52 with prime at the same time as a time change issue) after having a few minor screen issues, would not have taken note of it in the past

@live4sw @danamlewis I’ve been annoyed for a long time with master’s time hijinks but much happier with dev in that regard
@scottleibrand @tzachi-dar commit 1e5ef5bba70135ee6feb0580146c05ce36a54645 work works insofar as npm run global-install . will try ‘virtual’ looping soon - virtual as in - I don’t have a local pump… (btw, has anyone thought to build a ‘pump simulator’ on an Edison or RPi that we can test rigs against? probably a distraction but might be interesting

compelling evidence that the breakage is only in the commit 331e5380b03464d710dff9e57cec844183dce442 . but having reviewed the commit, and not grokking the internals, I’m hard-pressed to suggest a fix

to be clear, npm run global-install fails when head of dev is checked out. But can be run one commit back. however, oref0-setup then not so happy. so bringing up to head again seems then to work - still running validation

Question please: Ever since the fall time change, with a rig in JST (which does not change forward/back), errors similar to the following keep popping up and messing with reliable looping:
pump-loop.log: enact/smb-suggested.json: {"temp":"absolute","deliverAt":"2018-11-24T21:30:18.181Z","reason":"Warning: currenttemp rate 0.4 != lastTemp rate 0 from pumphistory; canceling temp","duration":0,"rate":0}

Is this fixable? If so, how?

Prior to the time change, no issues at all.
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Nov 26 2018 04:37
for ssh reverse tunneling, I have a cron job on each rig that sets up a reverse tunnel, puts the pid into a file called tunnel.log but things get stuck sometimes; sometimes the central node gets rebooted. sometimes the rig gets rebooted but the central node already has connections open, etc. is there some more robust reference on how to do this? for now, I rely on our T1D rebooting a rig when requested, not always a viable or non-intrusive solution.

@scottleibrand @mhaeberli as was said, one release before the head completes the installation, but after that one has to move to head (or maybe create a branch). In my case, the pump still did not work, until I have copied the settings from a previous setup.
I can give the settings files that have been created and did not work if that helps.
My pump is x12 type.

@mhaeberli I created a service using the two ngrok files in https://github.com/cascer1/oref0/tree/cas-dev/cas -- you can check cas.sh in that directory to see where I put them
I can explain in more detail later
This setup requires ngrok pro, FYI

Ebgineer
@Ebgineer
Nov 26 2018 11:03
@tzachi-dar could be a hardware problem, or done intentionally in software to save power as shown here https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blogs/jeff-geerling/raspberry-pi-zero-conserve-energy
tzachi-dar

tzachi-dar

Nov 26 2018 14:33
@Ebgineer than in this case I'll have to keep looking for the reason.

this also happened when I installed the other pi...

@mhaeberli @tzachi-dar can you re-test with the latest dev and confirm npm run global-install is still working for you?
tzachi-dar
@tzachi-dar
Nov 26 2018 14:49
@scottleibrand yes it is in bin/oref0-cron-post-reboot.sh
@scottleibrand I'll check that tonight, but please note that my bigger problem was that correct settings file have not being created.
Should this also be solved?
Scott Leibrand

tzachi-dar
@tzachi-dar
Nov 26 2018 16:53
@scottleibrand yesterday, after my setup was finished, (after syncing to a previous version of code), than openaps was talking with the pump. it was talking with nightscout, but still something was wrong. It did not change the bazzal of the pump.
So what I did to solve this, is copy all files from the settings directory of an old installation and replaced the new installation files. Then things work.
So, I suspect that there is another problem.
Do you want me to try a complete clean install of the pi, or something shorter?
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Nov 26 2018 17:12
@scottleibrand I’ll do a ‘soft’ test, later an erase/reinstall, and report back on each. ‘soft’ test is just checkout dev and see what it does.

But keep in mind you can also loop with AndroidAPS and Bluetooth enabled pumps like Dana or accu-chek combo
Hm, I wonder how to tune my parameters, since during day with my ISF of around 55 a multiplier of 3 on my basal of 0.25 can't do much, but when I'm in bed and seem to have ISF of around 100 a multiplier of 4-5 is way too much...
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Nov 26 2018 18:29
sounds like you should run autotune: if you have well-tuned settings, it will rarely bump up against the multipliers for long. If you are seeing it hitting maxBasal for long enough that it's too much with higher multipliers, that indicates some of your basals or ratios are too aggressive.
Well, here's another "issue" - how do I easily get profile from nightscout into something that autotune can consume?
And if I eat lower carb food, then the extended carbs require equivalent of extended bolus higher than the low multipliers with the low basals can provide
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Nov 26 2018 19:03
if you're trying to get oref0 to dose for your meals, you should probably be using SMB, not just temp basals
In theory oref1 by way of AndroidAPS, still somewhat in early days of it, but I have SMB enabled. But again, with a basal of 0.25 or 0.3 there isn't much to take away from
Ah, well, no, I don't have SMB active yet
