Does anyone know, do I need to pay $99 for a deverloper account to build iOS apps?

I don't believe that is necessary any longer to build and install them locally.

I'm using xCode and it is not letting me compile/build an app because of the signature...
I will see if a setting allows the code to go unsigned

I haven't tried it myself yet, so not sure about the details like that.

Yes, under "Build Settings" there is an option "Don't sign code"

You should be able to build, test and simulate with Xcode 7.x. No need to have a paid account.
Some of the features of my app or others might not work without a paid account though. Mainly iCloud access, push notifications things like that.

oh, it is your app! Thanks Pete!
Which app should I test, nightscouter or nightscouter2?
