<shashlick> Right now nimgit2 and other such wrappers downloads the upstream source code and resultant binaries into the nimble pkg directly
<shashlick> Makes it hard to uninstall since nimble gets upset about these untracked files
<shashlick> Need to move these into some other location
<shashlick> Any suggestions? Cross platform
<disruptek> needs an RFC so lotsa people can agree that it's silly. 🙁
<disruptek> it would be nice to have a place we can safely blow away to freshen a build/install, for one thing.
<disruptek> basically, it's hard to manage in a naive way right now, which is my personal complaint.
<shashlick> Initially I was using temp
<shashlick> But that's a security issue
<shashlick> Could use AppData and .cache like nimcache
From IRC (bridge bot)
@FromIRC
<disruptek> i don't think .cache makes sense because i want to assume i can remove it to fix things, not to break things.
<shashlick> Maybe just use nimcache
<shashlick> Wherever it is
<disruptek> same problem.
<disruptek> fact is, there aren't many assumptions you can make about this stuff. probably the best you can do is to store retrieved assets separately and reconstitute the binaries on demand to yet another directory.

<dv^_^> Can I set the length of a seq to 0 without changing its capacity?
<disruptek> sure.
<dv^_^> How?
<disruptek> setLen
<dv^_^> Ok, I'll try that. Thanks.

<dv^_^> Is there a function to copy part of a seq into another seq? like memcpy

<shashlick> Open to suggestions, any for src and binary then?
Obround
@Obround
How come consts can be re-defined in a try-except statement without an except to handle it? The following code executes perfectly:
type MyError = ref object of Exception
const TEN_CONST = 10
try:
    const TEN_CONST = 10
except MyError:
    echo "my error"

@FromIRC
<shashlick> It's a different block / scope so probably allowed
Obround
@Obround
Huh.
That doesn't seem right.
Doesn't try-catch kinda add on to the toplevel statements?

Hi, @shashlick, how is nimterop going ?
From IRC (bridge bot)
@FromIRC
<shashlick> Been busy with getHeader - new feature to get c libraries built automatically
<shashlick> See nimgit2 for an example
<yumaikas> o/

@gogolxdong
yes, you always did what I need, thanks, checking.

<FromDiscord> <Rika> I'm honestly baffled as to why Nim isn't that popular
From IRC (bridge bot)
@FromIRC
<Zevv> put a $3B company behind it and it'll fly
<FromDiscord> <Rika> Having a big tech company behind nim would make me feel uh
<FromDiscord> <Rika> Idk
<Zevv> so that's the whole point actually. There is no $agenda$ here, so things move differently

<me7> hi all i'm participate in hacktoberfest and submit pr nim-lang/Nim#12374 2 days ago
<me7> could someone help review?
<FromDiscord> <juan_carlos> Looks good to me. The more details the better. :)

* yumaikas will also probably be doing doc PRs for a few Nim repos
<yumaikas> I don't have them ready at all atm, however

<FromDiscord> <juan_carlos> Inside macro how to get Table[string, string] contents?, it wont have .sons nor .strVal nor .intVal nor do $ ?.
<PMunch> juan_carlos, you want to read from a static (compile-time) Table?
<FromDiscord> <juan_carlos> I need to pass something that would allow "foo": "bar" to macro, Tuple wont allow whitepaces on keys, JsonNode wont do CompileTime.
From IRC (bridge bot)
@FromIRC
<FromDiscord> <juan_carlos> Yes, I was thinking of using a Table.
<Zevv> juan_carlos: can you create a fictional snippet of code to show what you're trying to do? Show what you want to go in and what you'd want to come out?
<livcd> Rika: we are waiting for gogolxdong to get us that sweet chinese investment money
