    var reg1 = new RegExp('"[', 'g'), reg2 = new RegExp(']"', 'g')
    var data = JSON.parse(data.replace(reg1,'[').replace(reg2,']')); I'm trying this way also not working.

    can node-red handle millions of records returned from a database?
    Stephan H. Wissel
    @Stwissel

    How do I format a checkbox value in a dialog correctly? Currently I use

    <div class="form-row">
            <label for="node-config-input-useEnvCredentials">
                <input type="checkbox" id="node-config-input-useEnvCredentials" />
                <i class="fa fa-user"></i> Allow credentials in msg object
            </label>
        </div>

    But that squeezes checkbox and label into the first column (where all the labels are) and puts some space between the box and the icon. A pointer would be very much appreciated

    Stephan H. Wissel
    @Stwissel
    @Vernuft123 Depends on how you handle your millions:
    a) what environment is Node-Red running on (on a RaspberryPI you might be in trouble)
    b) how you try to process them
    When you try to load them all into memory at once, you will fail (in pretty much any environment). When you page them it should work. Of course best would be to turn your database into an event source that feeds data into NodeRed as events as and when they get created or updated (works nicely with Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CouchDB etc).
    @lampenschakelen What challenge do you face with mail? There is https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-mailin-smtp for incoming eMail and quite a few listed when you search for "eMail" in the flows https://flows.nodered.org/

    Question: in a config dialog (for a connection) I have a checkbox [x] Use environment for credentials. If that box is checked, the username/password entries should not be shown. When I uncheck it, they should reappear. What's the recommended way to implement that?

    Solution:

    $("#node-config-input-useEnvCredentials").change(function() {
                    $(".credentials").toggle(!this.checked);
                });

    in the ` oneditprepare: function()'

    @Vernuft123
    @Stwissel Thanks for your reply. I will have nod-red running on a windows machine. I need to pull data from a ERP system then put data back again. I want to pull a huge ammount of rows to process. I could add them to a message queue and just proces them one by one. But I was curious how other people solved big operations like this. I dont want to reinvent te wheel and much rather use a best practise.
    Stephan H. Wissel
    @Stwissel
    @Vernuft123 Neither one-by-one nor all-at-once are best practices. Typically you page/badge the data retrieval. Batch size depends on record size and the computing hardware. You need to experiment what gives you best performance in your setting

    Question on the Websocket endpoint:
    Can I specify a "Wildcard" endpoint, something like /notifications/*, so subscribers could subscribe to /notifications/Jane or /notifications/John and be served by the same endpoint node. How then to distinguish the different channels
    Stephan H. Wissel
    @Stwissel
    Where to keep state of a configuration object based connection?
    We use a configuration object to keep backend credentials. When a node using the the configuration object runs a backend connection is opened. It could be used by other nodes or later runs of the same node. Where would I keep the state "isConnected" and the connected object, so it can be used across calls from different nodes - given that is the same configuration object?

    Hi - just a reminder this isn't a channel the node-red maintainers keep a close eye on. We have our slack channel, https://nodered.org/slack and our newly created forum - https://discourse.nodered.org
    @Stwissel for the websocket endpoint, do you mean the comms link between the editor and runtime? If so, that isn't a channel we've made generally available for nodes to use.
    Stephan H. Wissel
    @Stwissel
    @knolleary -> will move to slack

    Hi, I'm new to node-red and I just forked the source code (https://github.com/node-red/node-red). What I would like to know is what framework is being used for development of the user-interface. I found that the editor directory in the repository contains all the UI related code, but I'm not able to conclude on the framework used.

    Hi @pantchox - splitting the runtime/editor in to separate packages is in the plan for later this year. They are already well separated within the code base, but we need to formalise the API between the two before we formally split them and make that API a public API we have to support.
    what is the status of this? :)

    Every time I respond here, it encourages more people to ignore what we've said and continue to ask questions here.

    Please use the project's slack or discourse for questions. If you were following the discourse group you'd know the general status of 0.20 given we're onto the third beta release of it

    hi this is not support channel you should go to slack. BUT from you error it seems its a general connection error, like the IP/Domain you are trying to connect is unreachable

    Hello I have a small problem with the configuration of a docker on compute engine (Google Cloud Platform).
    I am trying to deploy the nodered / node-red image on an instance by placing a directory as persistent.
    PS: I managed to deploy on the instance without persistence and I also managed to deploy the persistence once entered on the instance but not directly to deployment (using the command docker run -it -p 1880:1880 -v /home/node-red/data:/data --name mynodered nodered/node-red).
    If anyone would have an idea :) Thank you very much
