@Lange
it only shows up like this $À
this is because we have a special font that has two 1 characters: one that is monospace and one that isn't
you'll see in the code that we do some regex stuff to replace all instances of 1 with a different unicode char
which is the address for our other 1 glyph
gdq-omnibar-total.js#L23 is where that happens
it's also done in at least one other place i think, the break screen
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
here we go. I saw that earlier and wasn't really sure what it does or why it happens. But now I understand that part at least
okay that clears up a bit :)
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
for the schedule 404s, have you set useMockData back to false yet?
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
yea i did. Until now, we actually only used "useMockData" and pushed all our schedules through dropbox, so this is the first time I am off MockData
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
only thing i can say then is to try the urls in your browser or in PostMan and see if they work there
you might have to delete the bits for things like interviews and ads
because i don't think the code for those is in the public repo for the tracker
but i'm not 100% sure
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
The latter actually sounds like a good idea. Those are not really covered by our tracker rn due to that reason. I will try it. Thanks for pointing that out.
I gotta ask Alex - do you live here in Gitter? :D It's insane how good your support is.
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
i have gitter open as a pinned tab in chrome
so it's always there
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
we really gotta talk about it at some point. I mean this is your job and you are doing all this support for free. Don't think that's particularly fair
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
eh, way i see it is that it is making more contributors
the more people i help, the more people out there know how things work, the more people can contribute in the future
even if it's just to documentation, it's helpful
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
that's fair. I really want to contribute more. Sadly the Headers already sent fix we had didn't really work out as planned. It seemed to help at first, but then it came up again after a while.
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
ahh ok
you should post a new comment in that issue thread so folks know the issue needs further investigation
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
i will
Okay I guess i am definitely making progress. The only thing that gives an error now is the resolveRunOrOrder rn.
the Tracker doesn't really give an option for ordering, so i will have to look into that I guess
Error: [zsr-marathon18] [schedule] Failed to update: Error: Could not find run at specified order "1". at _resolveRunOrOrder (/home/ubuntu/nodecg/bundles/zsr-marathon18/extension/schedule.js:523:9) at _seekToArbitraryRun (/home/ubuntu/nodecg/bundles/zsr-marathon18/extension/schedule.js:358:14) at Promise.all.then (/home/ubuntu/nodecg/bundles/zsr-marathon18/extension/schedule.js:269:6) at <anonymous>
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
that's this
looks like the catch i have below it is out of date
the check I do in line 278 isn't exactly what the error message currently is
so you should be able to just fix that up
you can just change it to be like if (e.message.startsWith('Could not find run at specified order'))
TreZc0_
@TreZc0__twitter
hmm i actually tried that and messed with some mock data i still had, but i still don't get it to update with the same error. The catch gets fired, but the rest doesn't seem to be performed. the startswith solved the catch not reacting at least, but i don't get the schedule in. To make sure i deleted the schedule.rep as well to have clean data, but still the same error. using a log i can prove the catch actually works, but the function afterwards doesn't seem to handle the error.

@/all What would y'all think about moving to Discord, instead of using Gitter? The thought hadn't crossed my mind until I was linked this page: https://discordapp.com/open-source

@atribecalledkwest
I kinda like gitter's github stuff, but discord would be cool.

I use discord a lot more too. It's just a much more polished experience than gitter.
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
Discord would let us have things like channels specifically for people to show off their work, which would encourage people to post and be proud of the things they make with NodeCG
I mean we can get that with Gitter but the experience just is not at all smooth enough for it to actually get used in an effective manner
Clubwho
@Clubwhoo_twitter
Maybe just a NodeCG discord
And links to the open source one
Alex Van Camp
@Lange
@Clubwhoo_twitter I think you may have misunderstood -- there is no single centralized open source discord. That page is a collection of links to the Discord servers for the various individual projects.
Clubwho
@Clubwhoo_twitter
Ah yep
But id be very much down for a NodeCG discord
Gitter app doesn't work on my phone :/

@Lange
I went ahead and made a discord: https://discord.gg/NNmVz4x

Heya all! Quick question. I'm completely new to NodeCG. Are there any good tutorials/ways to start out with?

Just curious with the new Polymer 3. Since it's basically turning into another React, is there any possibility @Lange you might move to an alternative? I moved to Vue and actually really like it.
