    hello!
    E
    @Inconditus
    I'm trying to build noteablemind - on Mac OSX Yosemite. I did npm installand make js. Getting this error:
    ReactifyError: /Users/u/Test/notablemind/app/components/doc-viewer.js: Parse Error: Line 327: Unexpected token { while parsing file: /Users/u/Test/notablemind/app/components/doc-viewer.js

    @jaredly
    Oh hi!
    E
    @Inconditus
    heya
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    So I haven't really gotten things super stable yet, you might just be on a bad commit
    if you want to try out the app, then http://app.notablemind.org/ should work for you
    but now I'm curious -- I'm going to try to build in a clean env, see if I see the same thing
    E
    @Inconditus
    awesome. i've tried the app, its' really cool. i haven't found any open source workflowy-style note taking apps besides yours
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    yeah me neither :) that's why I built it
    I'm going to switch into documentation-writing mode soon, but for now here's a tutorial I put together, very WIP http://app.notablemind.org/#/gist/jaredly/2a15dbba420eb509e12d

    @Inconditus
    just noticed vim movement. cool!
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    yup. vim ftw. d d, y y, G, g g, `{' etc.
    u for undo, but don't ctrl+r :) it's shift+r for redo
    E
    @Inconditus
    wow - this has everything i would've built for myself. great job
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    glad you like it
    E
    @Inconditus
    how's the building in the clean env going?
    i wanna run it locally and poke at the code
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    hmm getting that error
    maybe it's the version of reactify? Checking package versions...
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    looks like there are several dependencies I forgot to declare ;/
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Ok @Inconditus, I fixed the packaging, so it should be doing sane things. npm install and then make on HEAD should do fine
    E
    @Inconditus
    i think it's missing the less package from npm.
    but besides installing that manually, it seems like it's working
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    oh yeah, that needs to be npm install -g
    browserify is also needed, but I guess you have that
    E
    @Inconditus
    thanks so much!
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    you're welcome! Let me know what you think. I'm hoping to get things cleaned up enough for an alpha in the next few weeks
    E
    @Inconditus
    right now it's syncing to localstorage, right?
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    yup.
    E
    @Inconditus
    cool, can't wait for the alpha
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    you can setup gist sync (although you'll need to change the GITHUB_AUTH_ID if you want that locally)
    app.notablemind.org has gist sync working. google drive sync will be coming soon
    E
    @Inconditus
    let me know if i can help the project in any way
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Sure! there's a very rough roadmap here http://app.notablemind.org/#/gist/jaredly/9680269723596b0249a3 . What kind of stuff do you do?
    E
    @Inconditus
    i'm picking up some react, i've been doing standard django/rails app and basic css/html stuff
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Sounds good. Probably the best thing now is to play with it and tell me when it breaks :)
    E
    @Inconditus
    will do - also, how do you make a todo item? in github i usually do - [ ] item
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    ah yes, I haven't yet documented node types. there are many. to change an item to a todo, press t t in normal mode. t n changes it back to a normal node, also t c for code, t l for list, and some others
    E
    @Inconditus
    cool, works also with the visual selections :smile:
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    yup!
    most things should
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Out of curiosity, how did you come upon notablemind? I don't think I've published it anywhere
    E
    @Inconditus
    i was going to make my own, was looking for a nice tree library for javascript. this was a couple months ago, been keeping track of noteablemind since
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    LukasDrude
    @LukasDrude
    Oh this is great. I stumbled upon notablemind when searching for folding and searching capabilities for Jupyter/ iPython notebook. How is the project related to Jupyter? Did you document on using the iPython kernel already?
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Yup, here's a tutorial. Let me know if anything breaks :) or how the tutorial could be improved.
    Jared Forsyth
    @jaredly
    Also check out the main tutorial if you haven't yet, to get down all of the ins and outs
