@LAPIII Good feedback or bad? Good feedback probably goes in a posting here: https://community.notepad-plus-plus.org/ Bad feedback (bug report) goes here: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues

I had a bunch of unsaved tabs open in Notepad++ and it crashed. Is there a way to get them back? (Note: I have autosave enabled and already looked in my backup folder, but only found two files there out of many more tabs that were open.)
Normally when I close N++ and reopen it, I get all my unsaved tabs back, but it appears that isn't the case when it crashes.
Incidentally, I was trying to do a column sort when it crashed.

I have an idea for a plugin. Tried a crack at it but I don't really know what I'm doing, though I DO know that it shouldn't be too hard for someone who does.
The plugin would just be a GPT-2 text generator that would let people use Write WIth Transformer (https://transformer.huggingface.co/) except offline

Voila le dossier par Windows de notepad++

As vous de copier ce dossier quand vous voulez pour reprendre quand vous voulez.
sasumner
@sasumner
@David29502624_twitter It's rather a long standing and known issue. The current answer is to not keep unsaved tabs around with data you care about in them.
David
@David29502624_twitter
@sasumner Thanks for the help. I was afraid that was the answer. That's what I get for not saving. If I want to be lazy about not saving every file, I suppose I could create a scheduled task to robocopy the files from the N++ backup folder to another backup folder. Then if the files are lost from the first backup folder, I could still recover from the second backup folder.
sasumner
@sasumner
@David29502624_twitter I do something similar, actually. :)
@David29502624_twitter But unsaved files are part of N++'s design -- it SHOULD work right with no data loss.

Hi, on high-DPI Notepad++ is exhibiting strange behavior. After resizing, the edit does not take place where the cursor is, and some lines appear double.
Is this known bug, or where can I report?

Hi, I am using NPP 7.7.1 x64. When I open data files that I work with, typically with .inp, .out, or no extension, NPP for some reason auto detects these as being in the "spice" programming language and applies inappropriate indenting guides/tabs/etc. How do I disable this automatic language detection? I want this files to be in Normal Text.
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion I can replicate that for .out files but not .inp or extensionless files
@QuantumPion In the Style Configurator, if you select spice for the Language box, you'll see in the Default ext. that out is listed.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
Thought of that but there is no line for spice in the list of languages in the style configurator menu.
Is it under a different name?
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion In the Preferences, if you select Language in the box on the left, you can move spice from Available items on the left to Disabled items on the right. Then upon restart of Notepad++, .out files should just be Normal text.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
none of the languages in the style configurator use .out extension as far as I can tell.
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion I'm running a fresh N++ 7.7.1 and I have spice there. But perhaps that part is unimportant. Try the Preferences thing I mentioned.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
that did not work. putting spice in disabled items removes it as an option from selection in the language drop-down menu, but .out files still open as spice files.
sasumner
@sasumner
Hmm. Hard to say then. Worked for me, again, with my fresh N++ 7.7.1.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
is there a way to completely disable language detection? I do not use the feature anyway.
or is there a way to add "Normal Text" as a "language" so I can associate .out files with it?
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion Not that I'm aware of. But I may just not know how to do it.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
ah I think the langs.model.xml file is write protected by my organization, maybe that is the problem
sasumner
@sasumner
Try langs.xml , but I'm out of my depth. The "model" one is just one that gets copied to create langs.xml if it is missing.
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
ah hah that did the trick. found the langs.xml in my AppData\Roaming older, deleted "out" from spice.
thanks!
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion Super, I wasn't sure that was going to work. What about .inp and extensionless files?
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
I think they are working too now
sasumner
@sasumner
@QuantumPion Well then my work is now done! :)
QuantumPion
@QuantumPion
yup thanks for the help

can anyone help me with emmet installation
i downloaded files required and then imported plugins but seem doing something incorrectly

I am trying to run a .txt file from Notepad++ and I am getting an error message saying "disabled due to store policies". What does this mean? is there a way to run .txt to .htlm without using run?
David Rounds
@DrRounds_gitlab

@surendrapatel_n_twitter You state that you imported the plugins for Emmet. How? If the plugin is not listed in the Plugin Admin, you would need to manually install it. You can open the plugins folder by using the "Open Plugins Folder" function under the Plugins menu. In the plugins folder, you create a folder of the same name as the plugin then copy the plugin .dll file into that folder. Any other dll files provided with the plugin go into the same folder. Please note that if you are running the 32-bit version of Notepad++, you would need to download and install the 32-bit version of the Emmet plugin. If running the 64-bit version of Notepad++, you would need to download and install the 64-bit version of Emmet.

@jmfey0517_gitlab You stated that you are trying to run a .txt file in Notepad++. Text files cannot be run. Please explain what you expect to happen when you attempt to run the text file. You also stated that you want to "run .txt to .html". Please state in more detail, step by step, what you are trying to do.

Muhammod Rubel
@MuhammodRubel_twitter
how can i add a image backgroung
David Rounds
@DrRounds_gitlab
@MuhammodRubel_twitter Notepad++ is only a text editor. It does not support any form of graphics or images.
sasumner
@sasumner
@jmfey0517_gitlab In addition to what David Rounds said, it seems like you have a non-official version of Notepad++, which ISN'T supported here.
