@keithhillard_gitlab As sasumner noted, Open the Plugins Admin under the plugins menu, scroll down the list of plugins to locate "Compare" , click the check box then click the [Install] button. Follow the instructions as displayed. Note that you will be prompted to close NotePad++ to allow the installation to proceed. Make sure that you save all changed files before closing NotePad++.

Hello. I have used NP++ for many years but there is an old bug which drives me nuts: When I have multiple unsaved files in open tabs and the active window is an already saved file and I select "Save as...", then enter a file name and save the file, one of the other unsaved files is being saved instead. Many times I didn't notice right away and I had temporary, unimportant notes saved instead, sometimes overwriting important files which then were lost forever.

Is this a known bug or do I need to open a ticket for it?

Oh, now I got it. Usually in most programs "save as." has a keyboard shortcut of Ctrl-Shift-S or F12. But when I use Ctrl-Shift-S in NPP, it means "save all" (i.e. also all unsaved files). If I really want "save as" I need to use Ctrl-Alt-S. Very dangerous! I only noticed now that I wanted to create a reproducer screen video.

I think I will either remap the keyboard shortcut or just deactivate "save all" until I have trained myself to use Ctrl-Alt-S. Probably I will just use F12 for "save as" and Ctrl-Shift-S for "save all" or something.

The two existing ones are too similar for such a potentially dangerous action. It is also counter-intuitive during "save all" to get several pop-ups for files without focus in the main window, so I am not even knowing what I am saving.
