Hello what dous ¨Notepad++¨ have from the Normal Notepad
@GarethSA Sounds like this may be a securepad issue because NotePad++ knows nothing about encrypted files. Remember that NP++ is just a text editor.

hi all. Is there a dark theme for the program interface?
want a black toolbar
@windows8prew Under the Style Configurator, you can select from several dark style themes such as "Blackboard", "Choco", "Deep Black", "Monokai" , "Obsidian" & "Twilight". You can also customize any theme from within the Style Configurator in case one of the dark themes does not meet your desires.
@carypt thanks, it work. appreciate your help.
Hey all, has Pinned Tabs (like in firefox/chrome) been considered as a feature?
anybody know? otherwise I'd like to suggest it!
Having trouble with the "Find & Replace in Files" in Notepad++. I have 50+ ms Word files with a simple character string (b1608) that I would like to replace but N++ cannot even find them. Is there possibly a known issue where strings inside of tables cannot be found?
@wbtguy Notepad++ is designed to work with plain text files, not word processor files. Therefore when you attempt to perform a search and replace operation on an MS Word document, there is no way to know how the string is internally stored in the MS-Word document. You will have to use MS-Word or another editor that understands MS-Word to perform Search and replace operations on MS-Word documents.
Hi to all. I'm new from Notepad++. After installing the last version (7.8.6 32bit) I started working on some sources. By doing a search in the files I realized that the text was found correctly and reported in the search window, but clicking on the line jumped to a wrong line. For example, a text reported on line 686, and actually present on line 686, after a double click refers to line 626. In another file 528 refers to 518, in another 428 to 401, although in many cases it works correctly. Do you already have reports of this or has it just happened to me? I have activated the Autocodepage plugin if it can be useful. Thanks.
Obviously I can send the sources on which I am searching for the text or explanatory screenshots if they are needed, but maybe you are already aware of it and I simply could not find an issue that has already been published...
@zappagoblin if you search for something, but then modify the document prior to the line that the search results are on, that search will still reference to the results it had given. IE: I have the word "HELP" on line 6, and my search shows me the result of searching for help to be on line 6. I then add a new line at line 5 with text. Whatever was at line 5 will now be at line 6. So if I double click on the search result (not performing a new search). It will take me to line 6, but HELP is now on line 7. I hope this helps, I don't know of an easier way to explain it. In short, once you perform a search, if you make any changes, perform the search again to get updated results.
Hi - I've just downloaded the latest version, but can't see the Hex plugin available when I click on Pugins->PlugIns Admin...
Thank you for your reply. But it seems the "find in files" problem remain. I check the files was correctly saved. I'll make some other try to verify the problem conditions. Thanks again!
@johncaplan It is my understanding that the Hex Edit plugin was removed from the Plugin Admin. You can download it manually and install it in the proper folder (varies depending on 32bit or 64 bit and version).
I like to suggest a feature: Pinned Tabs (like in firefox/chrome), i.e., the ability to pin tabs which then stay present at the top left of the tab bar even when the tab bar is scrolling. Any thoughts?
I am unable to run codes on notpadd++ as the run button that I used to see s no longer available. Can anyone help
Function list is not working in npp
@titookello_gitlab You need to change Notepad++'s XML file.
Hi all - Anyone else running into problems with the 64-bit version doing line-level sorting?
@sjzoppi I guess you'd have to be more specific on the type of problems before anyone can comment
Sorting simply does nothing.
a collection of lines when sorting "lexicographically" (or any other way for that matter) doesn't happen.
It Does happen on the 32-bit version.
@sjzoppi I guess I couldn't say; it seems to sort fine for me, so I suppose someone else might have to chime in
Thanks for responding.
I figured out the problem and it's probably not "technically" a 'bug' ... It has to do with the line-ending setting ... If a 'cut/paste' was done from a Unix(LF) file into a Windows(CR|LF) file, the line endings LOOK 'fine' (NPP recognizes the LF and dutifully numbers the lines. But because they are lacking the requisite "CR" before the "LF" - the sort function won't recognize them as actual lines ... So this is a bit of a cognitive difference between what the EDITOR window recognizes as a "line" and what the sort function does.
@sjzoppi A paste should unify line-endings into the target document's line-ending type.
@sjzoppi I'm surprised 32-bit and 64-bit would be different with sorting (with the new info on line-endings)
Yes - I'll try to reproduce the exact steps ... because I'm doing 6 things at once and don't want to err on the order in which I did them. in the meantime - regardless - it's clear that what appears to be a 'line' to the editor window isn't the same to the sort function. You can force the symptom by putting a bunch of semi-colon delimited data into a Windows(CR|LF) window and, using the replace function / with extended expression mode on, replace ";" with "\n" ... This will cause the editor to break up the "new lines" and number them ... but ONLY those lines with CRLF endings will be recognized as "lines" to the sort function.
@sjzoppi Yes that's true, it is a way to get mixed line-endings in your file. But you had said you pasted and a regular paste shouldn't cause that situation, so I was wondering about that.
@sasumner yes - I cannot 100% vouch for the order in which I'm working because "multitasking" wins over "precision" right now ... but that's the story and it's debatable whether or not "sort" should respect "LF" or "CRLF" exclusively - but now that I've figured it out - I'll leave the philosophical questions to the developers.
