Paul Walsh
@pwalsh
@rufuspollock @jwyg The SSL issue on legacy.openspending.org has been fixed. WDMMG still does not completely work, but could you try now if web recording produces a suitable artifact? We really need to move on shutting down that API asap.
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@pwalsh i can now look into this but i am about to be afkb for 2.5w - i can then look at this ...
Brook Elgie
@brew

@rufuspollock @jwyg and all here:

@pwalsh web recorded "Where Does My Money Go?"

The web recorded collection is here:

https://webrecorder.io/openknowledge/where-does-my-money-go/index

It is also possible from there to download the collection in web archive format, and view the archive with local tools, such as:

Currently, the plan is to redirect the domain to the webrecorder.io URL for the archive. First step though is that now @pwalsh is going to stop the OS v2 API machines.

@rufuspollock
@brew :thumbsup: :smile: - thank you so much!

Hi, there. Where did everyone go? The Open Knowledge Forums seems to be really empty and has become almost inactive in the last year or so. Where did everyone go? Facebook or something? Nowadays we just get the occasional spammer. Spammers are even getting more sophisticated. They post content that at first glance really seem to be on-topic, to try to gather some trust, and then include link spam in the end. I do not know if the natural language generation in bots has become quite sophisticated today as to almost pass the Turing test, or it it is just a human spammer.
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@augusto-herrmann we're around :smile: - i agree forums are quieter as i'm mostly esp working on datahubio/chat and frictionlessdata

Good evening everyone. Is this a good place to talk about the Luftdaten.info sensor and firmware described here: https://luftdaten.info/en/construction-manual/
If not, any pointers where to go would be very welcome :)
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@indigo423 not so sure can you tell me about that ...
Ronny Trommer
@indigo423
I followed your really awesome documentation, ordered the parts and got two sensors working. I would like now build a third sensor and instead of connecting the DHT 22 I would like connect 2 DS18B20 water resistent sensors. Is this possible using the firmware I've flashed from Luftdaten.info?
The questions in my mind is a) what data pins should I use and b) how is that represented in the web ui?

Is TimeMapper down? It was working earlier today, then I made some data updates and couldn't access the site - even the home page, not just my TimeMap.
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@MNdoughboy1918_twitter working for me atm
Jakob Voß
@nichtich
@rufuspollock Timemapper does not work with HTTPS because some URLs are hard-coded without SSL. I've submitted a fix at okfn/timemapper#211 - could you please activate it?
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@nichtich done - thanks for the pull. We now need to deploy it though. @pwalsh do i still have access to heroku for that?
Brook Elgie
@brew
Hi @rufuspollock - I can give you access. Let me know which email is best to add you with.

Great, you've been added to the hypernotes project.

@brew i’m unable to push to that repo for some reason.

School of Data is still very much alive @todrobbins! The site is online as normal for me, though with some DDoS protection from Cloudflare.. Let me know if you can still not access it.
Tod Robbins
@todrobbins
Oh weird. It’s up for me now
Tod Robbins
@todrobbins
The DDoS notice on every click is really unfortunate. Is that really the best option?
Brook Elgie
@brew
Hi @todrobbins. Sadly, it's currently necessary.
Tod Robbins
@todrobbins
@brew understood. I mean, totally worth it if the alternative is bot shut down. Thank you!
Jakob Voß
@nichtich
@brew @rufuspollock any update on the timemapper update? The new version is not deployed yet.
Brook Elgie
@brew
@nichtich Apologies for the delay. Those changes have now been deployed. Thanks for the PR!

Hey guys, I am working on a personal projeto for sharing Open Access papers. I am created a simple dashboard with Django where a user can view the paper metadata and download the paper itself. I currently have around 10M papers stored in Backblaze B3. I wonder if this is a type of project that may fit in OKFN, since I need some help organising the metadata, perhaps do some text analysis for categorization and so on.
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@benmezger great to hear from you - definitely something of interest. Let us know more about what you are looking for?

:tada: We’ve just released a new tool for Power BI today. Thought it would be good to share this news on here so you’d be among the first to know :smile:

Data Package Connector (datapackage-connector) is a Power BI Custom Connector for loading tables directly from Tabular Data Packages (Frictionless Data).

Hello! I'm dipping my toes into TimeMapper, hoping to introduce some faculty at my university to it. Am I seeing correctly that there's no stand-alone account signup option, only through Twitter?
vzafrin
@vzafrin
If that's correct, I'd love to know the rationale for this — mostly so that I can explain it to workshop participants who will then need to make decisions re whether to use it in their classrooms.

I can’t remember if that is only option. I think initially because we needed a nice user name in the url … it would not be hard to change ...

vzafrin
@vzafrin
@rufuspollock ...Well, you'd have to create a user account system that's unique to TimeMapper. Is that on the development roadmap?
Or rather, first: is there someone else who can confirm that currently the only way to create a TM account is through Twitter?
Rufus Pollock
@rufuspollock
@vzafrin we could do login via other services e.g. google or facebook. We’re not likely to implement user/password login in time mapper.
vzafrin
@vzafrin
@rufuspollock Thank you! This helps.

Does anyone know if the open product data project is still active or if someone could give me more information about it. I mean this one : https://product.okfn.org

If it is indeed active, I think perhaps the project could collaborate in some way with Open Food Facts. https://world.openfoodfacts.org/ What do you think?

hi folks, I'm looking at the BibJSON project page (http://okfnlabs.org/bibjson/#feedback). It mentions that a number of translators/parsers have been implemented already and are available in the organization's repo. Could someone please point me to that repo if possible? I'm unable to find it.
Tom Morris
@tfmorris
Probably these: https://github.com/okfn/bibserver/tree/master/parserscrapers_plugins but that repo was abandoned almost a decade ago
