Does anyone know if its possible to use FoundationPress as a child of a non foundationpress parent theme, I have a client who has an old website thas been butchered over the years and is now in a mess, they can't afford a new site and just want to improve on what they have, its based on the TwentyTwelve theme, I was just wondering what would happen if you try and use FoundationPress as a child of TwentyTwelve?
Ole Fredrik Lie
@olefredrik
@nitrokevin It's sorted. Julian and Daniel has now been onboarded as collaborators, and they are already doing awesome work with closing issues, merging pull requests and moving FoundationPress forward in the right direction. Thanks to all of you for your engagement and support.

@derweili
@nitrokevin of cause it's definitely possible. The question ist how god it will work.
FoundationPress includes a bunch of basic styling (typography, buttons, form/inputs ect.)
This will cause issues with your current
theme with because the styles will be overwritten. To prevent those problems I recommend to disable all those basic styling. (Comment everything out in the app scss) and then only include the styles you really need
The same with the Javascript files.

@derweili is doing all the hard work @olefredrik I’m just trying to somehow catch up :)
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
thanks @derweili I'll give it a go, they are using table based layouts inside the content editor at the moment and it horrible
Julian Weiland
@derweili
@nitrokevin welcome back in 2002
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
haha yeah I'd forgotten how bad tables were, and to make it worse inside the content editor multiple tables were stacking on top of each other
Daniel Klose
@kLOsk
well half as bad as shortcode based layouts… :D

@adambundy
@olefredrik thank you for all your hard work over the years! I've been using FDNPRS for all client projects for several years now. @kLOsk @derweili thanks for taking over! I'll try to check in regularly and help answer basic questions.

@kLOsk THank you so much solved it ;)
I got another question, I have a multi-site wordpress and they use the same theme, color palette. I want to update one of these color in the palette only for blog_id == 2 @kLOsk
is this possible? or there is any other way for achieving this ?
Daniel Klose
@kLOsk

@AhmedAbdulrahman this is more of a multisite question in general. Basically multisite uses the same theme accross the network. So theres two ways of achieving this. Option 1 would be to use a custom css plugin and make your changes only on site 2 in the network. the other optin would be to read out the blog id within foundationpress and then adjust the css accordingly.

in library/enqueue-scripts.php foundation press is loading the main stylesheet:
// Enqueue the main Stylesheet. wp_enqueue_style( 'main-stylesheet', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/dist/assets/css/' . foundationpress_asset_path( 'app.css' ), array(), '2.10.4', 'all' );

what you could do is make an additional css file and add it underneath the main stylesheet:
$blog_id = get_current_blog_id(); if ( $blog_id == '2' ) { wp_enqueue_style( 'special-stylesheet', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/dist/assets/css/new-style.css', array(), '1.0.0', 'all' ); }

I am using Foundationpress theme, specifically for Wordpress, using the Foundation framework(version 6.4.3, using the X-Y Grid. I know how to change the column gutter width in the _settings sass file. However, on a specific page, where a gallery shows(using the block grid), I do not need the gutters to be so small. I only want to change the gutter widths in that area. How can I change the gutter width ONLY for those cells in the particular block grid?
Daniel Brasic
@danzo

@pcross1986 The best way to do something like this is to wrap the gallery in a div or perhaps more semantically, a <section> tag with a class like .gallery. Then in your SASS file you can do something like

section.gallery{
    .cell{padding:.25rem;
}
}

This will limit the change of cell padding to just inside that <section> tag.
Edit: Sorry about all the edits... I'm a little clumsy w/markdown.

pcross1986
@pcross1986
adding a padding or a margin does not work because it knocks the last column down below.... basically there is no room for any padding or margin without recalculating the width of the cell
Daniel Brasic
@danzo
@pcross1986 @pcross1986 You are not adding any margin or padding. The code above would reduce the existing padding from .9375rem (the default) to .25rem. I guess more accurately it should be
section.gallery{
              .cell{
                       padding-left: .25rem;
                       padding-right: .25rem;
               }
}
That will reduce the padding on the left and right of each cell within section.gallery to .25rem, which is exactly what you want, unless I misunderstood your question.

Hi! Is there a way to use accordion menu in a sidebar that uses navigation menu widget? I'm new to wordpress (not to foundation) and I would expect a menu template, but didn't find any. How can I solve this problem?
Ahmed
@AhmedAbdulrahman
@kLOsk Fixed thanks Daniel :)
Is there a way to hide wp site and redirect to admin panel if they login then show the site ?
adambundy
@adambundy
Hello - what is the method with latest version of FP for disabling the desktop menu completely and using the mobile menu always? I can't seem to get that fully-working. Thanks much in advance for any help!
adambundy
@adambundy
In hopes it helps someone else, I solved the above and commented here: https://github.com/olefredrik/FoundationPress/issues/1381#issuecomment-485851453
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
Has anyone figured out how to successfully use hosted fonts and Gutenberg using FoundationPress? I have to do a relative path all the way back to wp-content and then I get errors for tinymce editor.
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
Is the a good way to integrate some of the setting.scss settings into wordpress customizer? for intance at the moment if I want to ceate a customizer option to set a color I have to create a function with the colors manually, ideally I want it to look at the foundation color palette in the settings.scss
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
@jeffdfarr I'm using hosted fonts and they are appearing in Guttenberg ok. I'm making a folder in src called "fonts" which has the font files, then in src / scss / global I have _fonts.scss which has the @font-face css with the src: url('../fonts/fontname.ttf'); plus the other variations, then import the _fonts.scss into the app.scss file
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
@nitrokevin are you then setting any variables or declaring anything in the settings.scss or editor.scss file? I've since recreated your folder structure and provided the font path as you have above.
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
I get an error with the path reference of "/wp-content/themes/foundation/dist/assets/wp-content/themes/foundation/dist/assets/fonts/39B130_0_0.woff2" where it repeats the font path.
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
@jeffdfarr sorry yes I'm then setting the font in settings.scss
@jeffdfarr check that the fonts are actually getting added to the dist folder, this should happen when you do a npm start
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
I have the font variable $body-font-family set to my font in the settings.scss file. I've imported the _fonts.scss file into the app.scss. The fonts are being carried over to the dist folder but I'm still getting that repeat path structure mentioned above.
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
@nitrokevin are you importing the _fonts.scss in the editor.scss file?
Jeff Farr
@jeffdfarr
@nitrokevin so I can get it to work in the editor too if I also duplicate and put my fonts folder on the root level with wp-content since the editor.scss file isn't referencing the proper folder structure on it's @import global/fonts
nitrokevin
@nitrokevin
@jeffdfarr no I'm importing _fonts.scss into the app.scss file
