@citrus-it
otherwise, something like pkg install -g /path/to/network_test_iperf.p5i iperf
Where is it from?
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
Thank you, when I try the first command, I get the message: "file protocol error: code: E_HTTP_NOT_FOUND (22) reason: Archive /tmp/pkg_hfa_jira31ir_network_test_iperf.p5i.p5p is missing, unsupported, or corrupt."
The second command makes the same message.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
try renaming the file to have a .p5p extension
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
Same result :'( with message "file protocol error: code: E_HTTP_NOT_FOUND (22) reason: Archive /tmp/pkg_hfa_i16srg6d_network_test_iperf.p5p is missing, unsupported, or corrupt."
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
and with pkg install?
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
My full command is pkg install --no-refresh -g /root/network_test_iperf.p5p iperf to avoid refresh (I don't know if it's right).
I get the message : file protocol error: code: E_HTTP_NOT_FOUND (22) reason: Archive /root/network_test_iperf.p5p is missing, unsupported, or corrupt. Repository URL: 'file:///root/network_test_iperf.p5p'.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
That looks ok, but it's saying not found, which is strange.
You can also try pkg list -g /root/network_test_iperf.p5p
to see what is in it
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
I transferred the file in SFTP the first time with the same error, I tried again in SCP, but it's the same.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
how big is it?

pkg list have the same error message (Sorry for the layout of my messages)
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
That's too small, so something must have gone wrong with the pkgrecv
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
Indeed... I will try to re-download it and do a check like an MD5 or SHA1.
I download it by clicking on "Install" from: https://pkg.omniosce.org/r151036/core/en/search.shtml?token=iperf&action=Search
Is it good?
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
ah, you are just downloading the manifest there, not the package
it's just an index of the files that are in the package
To get a .p5p for offline installation, you need to use pkgrecv as in my example above
(or I can put that .p5p file somewhere for you if you like)
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
I will connect to another OmniOS that has internet to retrieve it and I'll keep you informed
Nakasix
@nakasix_gitlab
Ok, I just launched the command pkg install --no-refresh -g /root/iperf.p5p iperfbut I get Refreshing catalog 1/1 omnioswho take a long time.
Thanks a lot ! @citrus-it
iperf iperf3 Finally!
hazzino
@hazzino
Finally i was able to install omnios on x250 thinkpad.
I would like a clarification,i'm following this doc, https://www.pbdigital.org/omniosce/bhyve/openbsd/2020/06/08/bhyve-zones-omnios.html i'm using just one disk to create a data for openbsd i need just to create under zfs isn't it?
C Fraire
@idodeclare
On that blog, they create a one-disk zpool (which means no ZFS redundancy). If you have a different, existing zpool, you could choose to use that. They then create a ZFS dataset, data/zones, for zone data; followed by a ZVOL, data/openbsd, for block storage for the virtual OS
Robert Fisher
@snltd
Looks like you can't currently install a pkgsrc zone. When the brand postinstall fetches the checksum file, it gets a 301, and stores the nginx 301 HTML response as if it were the checksum file. Happy to raise a PR to make the script a bit smarter if required.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
@snltd thanks, I'll put a temporary fix in place
and yes, we should change the script to use curl's -L flag (I still don't know why that isn't the default!)
We have recently been dropping the 'ce' bit of our domain names etc. and using omnios.org as the primary, and that is what has caused this
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
Should be fixed now!
Robert Fisher
@snltd
sure is! Thank you. Out of interest, where do the branded zone postinstall files come from? I couldn't find them anywhere.
In the git repos I mean, not on a live system.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
the pkg5 repo..
we need to change the URL there to drop the 'ce', and add -L to curl at the same time
but the server change I just made will persist - r151020 still has 15 months to live
Robert Fisher
@snltd
yeah, I just added -L. No wonder I couldn't find it; I assumed pkg5 was just for IPS stuff. Thanks again Andy.
Andy Fiddaman
@citrus-it
Most of the brands are pretty tightly tied into IPS, and by keeping them out of illumos-omnios that stays closer to upstream illumos
kvm and bhyve are not at all tied to IPS, but it made sense to keep them in the same repository
hazzino
@hazzino
Hi there how can i install a firmware of intel wireless 7265 having those packages repositories from Openindiana is that possible i think so,could you give me any help in the next days right now i got no time.
PÁSZTOR György
@pasztor
Hi all!
Is it possible, that this old problem is still not fixed in latest omnios stable:
http://zfs-create.blogspot.com/2014/05/optimizing-illumos-kernel-crypto.html
Or maybe in general it's not even fixed in the illumos completely?
nomad
@discard-this
Greetings. Anyone with recent CIFS+OmniOS+CentOS experience around?
I've got strange behvior when serving CIFS from 151036 to CentOS 8. Same server running 151030 has no problem, likewise 151036 to CentOS 7 has no problem.
I'd like to get someone else to take a look before I open a bug report.

@stellarpower
I've had to be away from most FOSS stuff for a while and have just seen the new docs on the website for zrepl - am excited to try it out!
I may need a working Haiku installation in a few weeks so am trying to clear some disk space before getting Omni on metal and will see if I can contribute a buildscript for generating an image, ideally bhyve but imagine KVM should work as a fallback if it reveals any issues on either the bhyve end or the Haiku end that need submitting.
