Here's a question... could this be configured so I have the Docker file working here but running dev/test/deploy at a VPS remotely?
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
how does OpenDevShop or Aegir handle SSL?
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
Got it installed now I am trying to get it working on a remote v ps

@nasl
hi there! I am trying to build own development server and before I start want to ask: is there any difference between choosing Apache or Nginx? Would like to hear creator opinion. Thanx!
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
My understanding is that nginx is a bit more efficiant in how it does things then apache. it is also something that can be used along side apache as opposed to being a straight replacement for it
I'm still trying and failing to add a server into opendevshop so I can deploy to it while keeping the devshop setup on a seperate server
nasl
@nasl
The question is more or less about stability and simplicity. I would like to have set-and-forget type of server
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
How set and forget are you looking for
nasl
@nasl
hmm... set and forget the http server choice
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
Then either will do as long as you keep them up to date security wise
Jon Pugh
@jonpugh
Apache, please. The underlying nginx configs are more complex. There's no real benefit unless you are really interested in performance tuning.
nasl
@nasl
That the answer I was looking for. Thank you!

I keep running into issues setting up a remote server.
I WANT to do this so I can add servers as needed.
C.W. Smith
@CWSmith1701
I keep trying to verify a server but I keep running into issues with mysql logins. I am TRYING to set it up to do NGINX SSL while having the MySQL server on the same host. so far I keep getting issue with mysql not allowing me to do anything proper

Getting this error from devshop remote:install

'Output:

Error Output:

Pseudo-terminal will not be allocated because stdin is not a terminal.
bash: Unable: command not found

Aegir Remote Server did not complete!'

...I am very sorry to be that annoying guy, but have to ask: did you tested installation on fresh installs (vps'es), because it fails on Centos and Ubuntu on hetzner. Different reasons and I am almost sure that Hetzner config is partially guilty but still...
David Sanders
@Ghostcode75
Could someone pointing to the most current install instructions for Ubuntu 18.0.4.3 LTS?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh Hey David. Can you grab the very latest 1.x script and test it out?
jonpugh I'll stamp out a beta on Monday
David Sanders
@Ghostcode75
failed | msg: value of state must be one of: absent, build-dep, fixed, latest, present, got: installed
^ just ran this on AWS
looks like it happens during "Ensure PHP packages are installed...." one of the php libraries is returning "installed" rather than "present"
David Sanders
@Ghostcode75
@jonpugh You are obviously very busy, Is there anything I can do to help?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh absolutely :)
jonpugh > failed | msg: value of state must be one of: absent, build-dep, fixed, latest, present, got: installed
jonpugh This is a syntax error from ansible, isn't it?
jonpugh And I am almost 100% sure they've all been converted to "present" in the 1.x branch...
jonpugh I'm creating a real server to test out 1.x install.sh now
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh David Sanders (Gitter):
jonpugh ok, confirmed
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh grr
jonpugh I think this is fixed in my big centos branch....
jonpugh How is this not getting caught by our testing, I wonder
jonpugh wait, no, I installed 1.5 rc...
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh yeah, it's running now.
jonpugh I will update the suggested version on the getdevshop page.
Jon Pugh
@jonpugh
Yikes!
Just seeing how this looks when I chat from Riot.im

@matrixbot

total newbie question... : when installing new project through web interface something like https://git.drupalcode.org/project/sector it fails, because Drupal core is not installed.
How to?... Thanks!
Of course, I am installing with direct git link, like https://git.drupalcode.org/project/sector.git
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh Hi! For that feature, use the module name instead. It passes to composer install drupal/$NAME
nasl
@nasl
matrixbot
@matrixbot
jonpugh Distros do not work this way. only modules and themes.

ODS keeps impressing me every day... Somehow just now read, that it has docker!
  1. Is it recommended to run in docker?
