Patrick Fink
@pfink
Good, I think that went fine! Release done :smile:
Maybe it makes sense to test the distro once manually before publishing the release on apt/yum?
Ben Clark
@BClark09
Do we need to wait a while before testing? Just tried it:
00:45:49.236 [ERROR] [.core.karaf.internal.FeatureInstaller] - Failed installing 'openhab-ui-homebuilder, openhab-ui-basic, openhab-ui-habpanel, openhab-ui-paper': Error:
        Error downloading mvn:org.openhab.ui/org.openhab.ui.habpanel/2.3.0.RC1
Patrick Fink
@pfink
I guess that's not good
do you see from which url it tries to download?
Patrick Fink
@pfink
oh, openhab-repo-milestone is still not filled...

@pfink
Oh no
Ben Clark
@BClark09

I had a look at the resultant org.ops4j.pax.url.mvn.cfg, the https://openhab.jfrog.io/openhab/online-repo-milestone/2.3@id=openhab it points to is empty. However there is a
https://openhab.jfrog.io/openhab/online-repo-snapshot/2.3/org/openhab/distro/openhab-addons/2.3.0.RC1/ which seems to be a strange place?

(Please do tell me if I'm just creating noise here ;) )

Patrick Fink
@pfink
yes, that's not intended
I created a PR: openhab/openhab-distro#713
@kaikreuzer: Could you review & merge?
@BClark09: No noise, that was helpful, thanks!
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Sorry, I didn't make it as long as you last night...
PR is merged, can you run the upload manually or shall we do a full rebuild after cleaning again?
Patrick Fink
@pfink
Ah, I missed something within the PR. Fix: openhab/openhab-distro#714
Patrick Fink
@pfink
Okay, online-repo is correctly filled right now. Installing the UI from this online-repo works is also fine.
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Excellent, thanks!
So @BClark09 should now be able to publish the linux packages, right?
Ben Clark
@BClark09
I hadn't had to test a manual install and I'm currently on a long train journey.
I can build it if others can test?
Actually, I can backup my home installation and test using that.
Ben Clark
@BClark09
Packages built and the apt one is working well. Shall I publish to the public repo?
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Sure! (the "testing" one) - we can then announce the availablilty tonight and ask people for extensive testing.
Thank you both!
Ben Clark
@BClark09
Great, they've been published now. :) Thanks @kaikreuzer and @pfink!!
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
@pfink I'd like to do a RC2 build later this afternoon. Could you tell me the parameters that should be used for launching the build?
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Btw, @pfink, do you happen to know what this commit is about? openhab/smarthome@1aa8bec
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Argh, shit, I only noticed now that the sandbox build is red since we did RC1 :-(
No repository found at http://download.eclipse.org/smarthome/updates-release/0.10.0-SNAPSHOT.
@pfink Any idea why this happens now on the Zigbee build? There haven't been any changes to the poms of it...
Seems to be related to https://github.com/openhab/org.openhab.binding.zigbee/blob/master/pom.xml#L213, which we actually do not need anymore.
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
created openhab/org.openhab.binding.zigbee#213
Patrick Fink
@pfink
  • Regarding the ESH commit: Sorry, this commit was created within the first erroneous run, it should not exist. Could you reset the oh branch to the commit before this one?
  • Regarding the zigbee error: This error always occured, but I for a while I removed the -Drelease parameter from the sandbox build so that we can test further. After you removed the p2 references, I put it back again.
  • To make a RC2 release, you can use these parameters and just put RC2 instead of RC1 whereever possible.
Patrick Fink
@pfink
Sandbox build is green now.
I started building RC2: https://openhab.ci.cloudbees.com/job/openhab2-release/30/ (hope that's intended by you)
Could you add me to the buildserver slack channel? And do we have a maintainers mailing list? I'd like to setup the notification now.
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Excellent!
You can join such rooms yourself, but I just added you.
But I don't think we have the slack integration configured yet for the pipeline builds - feel free to do so!
Patrick Fink
@pfink
I know. In the pipeline, it works a little bit different. You just catch Groovy exceptions with try-catch and implement the API-Call in the catch-Block. Fortunately, there is already a sendSlack step available :)
but now I have to implement the DSGVO for one of my websites first, I'm a little bit late :smile:
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer

Could you reset the oh branch to the commit before this one?

Done!

Patrick Fink
@pfink
Thanks!
Tomasz Maruszak
@zarusz
hey, I am in the middle of PR for YamahaReceiver binding and the community users are testing against 2.3.0-SNAPSHOT.
Since OH 2.3.0 was released today, I wonder if the faster patch releases (2.3.1) have been established by now and I could use it?
I can always ask the users to install 2.4.0-SNAPSHOT.
Please advise, thanks!
Patrick Fink
@pfink
Technically it would be no problem to make such releases. But for 2.2.0/2.2.1 the argument was that there is not enough demand by the maintainers.
That's why there was no 2.2.1 release.
Patrick Fink
@pfink
Also, if new bindings are the only demand, I would say a 2.3.1 would not really make sense. This would mean we would have an exact copy of the 2.2.0 release just with these extra bindings, even though they can be easily installed on 2.2.0 using other ways (Eclipse Marketplace, JAR deployment).
Kai Kreuzer
@kaikreuzer
Further contemplating on that, I think I also prefer to rather provide regular (monthly?) 2.4 milestone releases, which will include new stuff and keep 2.3.x versions reserved for real hotfixes/patches.
Tomasz Maruszak
@zarusz
Thanks for your feedback Patrick and Kai

hey, i'm trying to persist measurements gained by the exec (cmd line) to influx db - that works, but they are persisted as strings. when using number instead of string in the item definition, it doesn't work (nan value). i found a bunch of bugs but no solution, do you know any solution?
