    hey there, is the HOT team steering the OIN work?
    I'm curious about who's involved so far and how OIN is related to OpenAerialMap
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    Thanks!
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    Hi Tod! The OIN idea was created and discussed at the OAM project meeting in DC early this month. Participants included HOT, DevSeed, Planet Labs, Azavea, OpenDroneMap and Cadasta
    There is no official steering team at this point, but those are the parties involved for now
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    Very exciting! Is there any connection with the new beta OAM and the previous go?
    *version
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    @todrobbins how did you find out about the project?
    yes, OIN is the store for all the imagery that goes in OAM
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    Oh cool, the word spreads fast ;-)
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    :D
    Is Landsat Util going to remain separate or integrated into OAM?
    wait... not the name I was looking for
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    that is a question for @smit1678 but OAM will be mainly a catalog with tile processing capabilities
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    Libra! That's it
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    oh, I think code from libra is making the current OAM browser, but again I’ll let @smit1678 answer that
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    rad, thanks for the info
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    what do you do and what’s your interest in OIN/OAM?
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    I'm a digital asset manager by day, open data geek by night
    I helped start the Open Salt Lake CfA Brigade here in Utah
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    oh cool! I’m with CfA San Diego ;-)
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    have there been discussion about how far back image sets will be cataloged?
    I guess that probably depends on the licensing of each data provider, no?
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    no limit that I can think of, as much data one can put in OIN
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    just thinking through the use case of historical comparisons of a region
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    absolutely, and even just for change detection analysis would be nice to have daily or monthly series
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    Open Salt Lake has been participating in the Open Trails initiative and I'd be interested in documenting land use and trail development (environmental impact issues) with the various imagery
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    like right now we are doing for landlside mapping in Nepal with HOT
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    right, so cool!
    is this OpenCV-based? the landslide mapping, that is
    also, is OIN/OAM serving up GeoTIFFs?
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    No. Remote sensing analysis done with traditional software, but then the plan is to crowdsource validation what detected with automatic image processing
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    Oh neat
    Cristiano Giovando
    @cgiovando
    yes, only RGB GeoTIFFs right now
    well, welcome on board, and please keep browsing around and share your ideas. Gotta run now. Cheers!
    Tod Robbins
    @todrobbins
    thanks! and best wishes! I'll look over the repos
