LegacyTileSource is damn handy...so many folks out there have image pyramids already, just waiting to be utilized.

Well, the trick is that they are all different aspect ratios. You could do it if you normalized one of their dimensions. The Pinterest layout, for instance.
Of course I kinda like the jumbled animation :)

I’m having thoughts about switching to @msalsbery ’s approach of using a large overlay to sit the area selector within, rather than messing with the viewer canvas.
