Forgot to mention but I go this working the other day, in case anyone needs it: http://crswll.github.io/sd/
I didn't end up using the SVG overlay, just hacked up something with viewBox.

It's awesome what you can do when you get a little happy with the delete key.

@crswll Looking good! Interesting that you chose to keep the numbers the same size regardless of zoom...perhaps we should consider that feature for the SVG-overlay plugin
I'm looking at your PR right now. Definitely an improvement for the scroll wheel. Looks like it'll take some more work to make it possible to stop the clicks from going through to the viewer. Thinking about how I want to refactor.

@iangilman You mean for the numbers or the lines (I broke them into two elements).

The numbers. They don't change size, while the lines do.

Oh, yeah they actually want it like that. If the numbers scale as well they get really large and distracting. I'm still betting the whole thing gets changed though haha.

Makes sense. Might be good to support that scenario in the SVG-overlay plugin at some point.
On the other hand, you could also use regular OSD overlays for the numbers and SVG-overlay for the lines.

Cool...whatever works for you. Just thinking about making the tools suitable.
I guess one challenge there is managing the z-order for everybody
