Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
for people who don't have users etc
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Oh you mean like automated tests?
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
yes
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yeah I just figured we wouldn't be able to have tests for that
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
@cdubz i just noticed an inconsistency in our linting, if I don't leave a space after a "," in a tuple it's okay at the end of it
however if I don't leave a space after the last "," in an array it's bad apparently :/
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
weird
That must be the default though? I don't pass any settings parameters to flake8
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Interesting
Was just testing manual deployment stuff
and found that it all works on a low memory (512MB) instance if using a 32-bit OS
On 64-bit npm install always runs out memory
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
yeah that's actually why almost all my deploys are on 32-bit systems
most web apps don't make use of 64bit and you save a lot of mem
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Pretty cool. I was annoyed writing up documentation for manual deploy and trying to describe the need to build assets locally, hah.
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Still quit lengthy, hah - https://github.com/cdubz/babybuddy#manual
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
and this is why people create the stupid curl | bash security nightmare scripts
because doing deploys on fresh linux systems of almost anything is fairly complex
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yeah haha
Maybe it’s time to finally learn about Docker...
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
That also solves many of the issues
You could check how I did it with Pinry though I need to update that one since it'd broken right now
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Nice. Will do.
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Hah! cdubz/babybuddy#21
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
Okay, done with Thanksgiving dinner and I'm going in to learn webpack... If I don't make it out tell my family the dinner was great...
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Haha good luck
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Woo Docker :clap:
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
Yeah finally working on this again, haven't seen you in like a month! How's the kid growin'?
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
also moby/moby#2174
they never fixed the problem, just "oh we can't fix it uh locking"
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Plumpin out to be a little fatty finally
He’s still tall and skinny as shit though
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
just give him french fries every day
kids love those things
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
got the docker builds working \o/
not sure how we are going to keep testing then :/
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
That’s annoying
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
@cdubz oh wow, firefox actually works pretty flawlessly now for this testing and headless testing, no issues at all, they really upped their game... it also really simplified everything
seems to be consistent too, no random fails anymore
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
nice!
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
Now that I swapped over to timestrap for my time tracking in my office I'm finding all kinds of small problems
this is why you should always use what you make
hopefully I have the time to fix a bunch of them soon
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yep. So much of my work on B.B. cake from our actual usage of it after the kid was born.
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
both really interesting projects, i wonder why referer-policy isn't built into django honestly
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
I want a reason to use that (:
