is that they make everything very slow for no gains :/
you can't actually port what you do on the website to a standalone app easily either in my experience
unless you are using everything in the react ecosystem
and then you still can't port most of it -.-
and this will let me iterate on things faster since timestrap has come to standstill with some vue issues

@cdubz
👍👍

@overshard
@cdubz you still use ubuntu?
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yeah for servers
I use Mint for desktop
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
@cdubz ah, for my dekstop i recently swapped to xubuntu
i really like xfce a lot
it seems really well polished
i think mint uses xfce by default doesn't it?
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yeah? I’ve never used it.
Maybe but I use cinnamon.
I like the OOB similarly to Windows. Easier for my wife too (:
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
oh i see you have 4 options when downloading mint
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Yeah
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
xfce is the same, very similar to windows i wonder what key differences are between cinnamon and xfce
xfce is very resource light so i'm able to run xfce on my main desktop and in all my VMs very easily
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
I’ll check it out in a VM. Cinnamon uses many of the key combs as windows which is nice.
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
funny you mention that, first thing i did in xfce was go to Settings > Keyboard and remap everything to my windows keybinds since i'm just so used to them
i keep getting this slant website recently in my search results
xfce and cinnamon are the top two rated linux desktop environments according to this site
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
everytime i try to use some form of easy abstraction is comes back to bite me :/
this time it's using the django form system with crispy forms
i can't customize a select field to do exactly what i want and now i have to scrap all that :(
one day I'll learn
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
\o/ i don't have to rebuild it, the latest vue update fixes the issue i was having and I sat down with someone who helped me with the issue
mostly i need to move to something like webpack and fix how i'm bundling stuff
or fix my browserify config
anyways i'm building out the components more and fixing a lot of minor bugs that have been... well... bugging me
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Haha well that’s good!
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
ah i see you found a solution for postgres persistent data? cdubz/babybuddy@27c9142
i'll have to research... and by research i mean probably copy and paste... this solution
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
@cdubz you ever solve emails from docker?
@cdubz i haven't checked into possible docker email servers or anything
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
starting to build in vuex to manage state! that will make is so we don't have to do anywhere near as many api calls, will be real nice
and make it easier to maintain all the components
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Someone did a PR for me for Docker. Seemed to work in my quick test — cdubz/babybuddy#46
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
so apparently no one has figured out how to handle things like font-awesome while using a build tool like gulp or webpack in a decent way
it's just a disaster everywhere I look :(
if it's not pure css or js then you're in trouble it would seem
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Weird
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
"hey i can use the official vue-eslint-plugin now" 1322 problems (1322 errors, 0 warnings) "this is fine"
Christopher Charbonneau Wells
@cdubz
Haha
Lots of commits lately. I need to take a look at things again (:
Isaac Bythewood
@overshard
well i started using a state machine, which is what i wanted to do a long time ago and I didn't understand it
so a lot of the recent commits are doing two things, fixing minor bugs I'm running into using this daily now
