@spences10
Ok, chaps, I have scaffolded out some of the bot
Have some basic RT going on
TODO:
  • [ ] Follow the community hashtag and retweet tweets to it
  • [ ] Welcome new community members summarising their skills and who they'd like to pair with
  • [x] Retweet specific keywords "pair programming", "anyone want to pair with me"
  • [ ] Reply to those specific keywords promoting PairHub
oh, thanks not markdown
meh¬
@gustavlrsn I can set up to reply to uses when they follow the account and reply with a single or a random response from a predefined selection of responses
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
@spences10 cool! nice progress. I think it'd be good if the bot is as non-spammy as possible :smile:, and replying to users when they follow would probably fall under spammy in my book, what do you think?
also, I think LIKING keywords like "pair programming" would be better than retweeting?
in terms of tweets, it would be nice if it would tweet out POSTS ("who'd like to pair with me") from the web app, I'm currently building the posts feature btw
and also to tweet out LOGS
from pairing sessions
Scott Spence
@spences10
Liking autonomously is against the ToS, so we could have the bot RT when the hashtag is used
So, follow back permitted, no unsolicited following
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
Oh! Liking is against ToS but RT is fine?
Scott Spence
@spences10
Yeah I thought the same after reading them again yesterday
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
do you know the specific part that applies in the ToS?
Scott Spence
@spences10
spences10/twitter-bot-bootstrap#48
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
thanks!
kinda understand why they don't allow it though, would be easy to just like thousands of tweets per day
etc
hmm
Scott Spence
@spences10
So, information on PairHub
New members having their profile tweeted
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
If the signup flow is 1) user creating a profile and 2) user creating a post "who want to pair with me on ..."
I think the better time to tweet is at 2)
Because then you have some content
and ideally you could generate an image like Medium and Product Hunt does
Scott Spence
@spences10
Cool, we can use postMediaChunked to tweet the images. Will the API be open to the bot for that?
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
Nice, yeah, need to figure out best approach for the API or bot to communicate with each other
or.. possibly add the tweetbot functionality to the API directly
Scott Spence
@spences10
Ha! YesπŸ‘Œ
I want to learn more about APIs making them etc

@leovarmak
Has anyone tried api.ai ?
I am having trouble exporting to Alexa

@/all I recently deployed a completely new version of PairHub, check it out: https://pairhub.io :)

Not loading buddy
Nizar Ismail
@doctorniz
Loading now,
a) it's not completely mobile responsive, which is fine. It will get there.
b) signed up on mobile and wasn't able to close the modal suggesting that I star the project.
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
@doctorniz thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the slow reply. I’ve missed to turn on notifications here in Gitter, should be fixed now :)
The slow loading was due to the container being frozen, I’ve now set it to never freeze so that should no longer be a problem.
Mobile responsiveness should be fixed ASAP, here is the issue for it: pairhub/pairhub#20
Made an issue for not being able to close the modal on mobile: pairhub/pairhub#21, thanks for reporting :)

@bikingbadger
Hey there, is this project still running. I'm keen to jump into doing some open source to help learn. Is there anything that I could help with?
Gustav Larsson
@gustavlrsn
@bikingbadger hi! yes, still running, havn't been under the most active development but it is alive. feel free look in the issues to find stuff to you'd be interested in working on
I've kept on missing messages because I don't use Gitter in my day-to-day otherwise..
