    @aosucas499
    Ah ok
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    You used eggs in a completely different way, yes, i know it is a command line tool, but I'm amazing from your eggs-install.sh. This confirm me who write a cli tool and not a gui application is good. Never I thought to use eggs in this way, but yes it is possible!
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 don't worry for the safe option, just checked and was a quite stupid error, in God know that editing sessione I wrote APPEND initrd={{{vmlinuz}}} ... in the place of APPEND initrd={{{initrdImg}}}... etc. Quite stupid but never checked :-D
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Great! Those mistakes normally happen
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Yes, it was a good idea you write a cli-tool. Why are you surprised the way I used penguin-eggs?😬
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    becouse I thoug alway to use flag for example for theme, but to have just a directory, an install-eggs and all the configurations in it is better.
    everyone know that are her needs, less code for me and the same or better results
    everyone can manage it, just few files and you can customize not only calamares branding but partition,yml and so on. For example I have idea to have a versione of proxmox-ve with gui. I made iso, but became difficult to integrate all the thing, in this way can be short
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I think the flag -theme is a really good idea, but you know, I did in that way in a quicker way for testing purpose
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    yes, same things can be good with flags, but not all a script can be better. Almost this thought after see your way to use eggs
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I'm glad you like the way I modified
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    also the use of eggs produce --vs to test the production and after produce the iso normally is a nide idea
    nice idea
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I did that because the eggs produce need the focal sources and the final version of my distro won't. So I used -vs, being sure it installs all the dependencies, I delete focal repo and I run produce being sure the final version won't give mistakes

    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 Hola, I just upload the last version of eggs 7.7.4 with the guadalinex theme. I used an icon from internet and perhaps you have better icons, I have also idea to expand theme a little more. es: add theme name to the iso image eg: GUIDELINEX_basename-YYYY-MM-DD-HH:MM.iso r think about the possibility to include default desktop wallpapers and so on. It' work in progress, but look to run correctly. To update eggs just sudo eggs update, choose basked and you will get last four versione from sourceforce. I hope you will like, but with time will be better
    btw. the actual version of theme include calamares and both isolinux and grub configuration for liveCD

    @aosucas499
    Hi Piero. Thank you so much!!!!!! I'll try it
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Hi Piero, after the amazing results of your tool in new Guadalinex, in our schools, time ago we are developing an old version of a distro linux based in debian jessie, for our old computers, it goes really well,with updates browsers, etc...but our installer in some old computer give problems, i was thinking in use your tool but with the Debian no not calamares installer. How can I adapt so the tool think I'm in debian stretch(sometimes we use the stretch repos in apt) thanks
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 good mornirg. Well I'm really happy for that. I think you can use the internal installer of eggs, it's CLI and have same revision to do but it work on staandard BIOS, yesterday I just used it with a remaster of SODILINUX an italian remix based on Linux Mint Ulyssa, I had the problem to not be able to install it with calamares so I just used CLI installer (sudo eggs install --cli). Times are passed from our meet now eggs come with simple manPage, just man eggs and others improvements (I extended your way to customize CDROM boot check addon/eggs/theme and so on. I just was thinking about the need to improve eggs installer for cases cannot be usable calamares, so you are back... just in the right time!
    ps SODILINUX is a distro for school too, I just tryed to install it on an old computer for a child, i think can be interesting to you too

    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 I tried this morning to produce a jessie version, but we lacks overlayfs... please investigate if it is possible, I know eggs can work in stretch (without calamares) and if we solve the problem of overlayfs, perhaps updating kernel we can remaster jessie too
    I just worked with sources at the moment don't release nothing. but it is just last version on git
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    Ok, I published it as eggs_7.8.38-1_amd64.deb in https://sourceforge.net/projects/penguins-eggs/files/packages-deb/
    the i386 version will follow, now Im in a hurry to get out
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    I'm interested too to see your installer, perhaps we can conbine the good of both
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    I see you are not connected today, well i Just restructured a little my installer. In lomg way I want yo create something who can read calamares modules yaml and calamares-modules in yaml and bash l to help me to have a similar configuration. I want this installer cli in eggs for two reasons: the firrst Is to let server only cll reproductions and second becouse casalamares Is very good, but expecially with mate, xfce and lxqt need a lot of RAM to work and this in some cases can be impossible to use It in systems with just 2 GB RAM. But the system can run enought well with the same distro if ove
    If we overpass this phase.
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 today i released a version of eggs, capable to remaster and install debian stretch without calamares. I added modifications also for jessie but can't solve the problem of overlayfs.
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Thanks Piero for all your help, I am busy with the school assessment and I took note of all your recommendations to try in the next weeks
    I solved the problem of overlayfs updating the kernel from 3.16 to 3.19. Apparently it was the first kernel to introduce that
    I'll try with jessie and kernel 3.19 and I'll give you feedback
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    Ok, l tried with same repo, but jessie-backpotrs don't work more and on the repo I tried where was kernel 4.19 but without overlayfs enabled. Im not too expert in this.
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I found this kernel and it worked with penguin-eggs days ago, with your now update it has to go amazin, I'll try soon
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    Just installed that kernel, but I get this error starting the iso created : modprobe; module ehci-orion not found
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti

    I think we need to compile a kernel with CONFIG_OVERLAY_FS=m and CONFIG_KERNEL_XZ=y, perhaps also CONFIG_KERNEL_LZ4=y for fast oprion. Perhpas I'm wrong, not so expert in that and, until now, never tried to compile the kernel, a must to do in the life, so I'm just a novice. At the momnt I put in eggs info two commands 'zgrep CONFIGKERNEL /boot/config-$(uname -r)' and 'zgrep CONFIG_OVERLAY_FS /boot/config-$(uname -r)' to check the presence

    and

    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    I tried also with ubuntu xenial, in this case work and I put back xenial in the compatibility distro for eggs. Nothing to do for trusty, I dont remember why. So at moment we have stretch and xenial. I saw also who xenial and trusty have the same version of kernel 4.4 I think wo for sure not was the same the original. And this suggest me there is a way, but for now don't know.
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I don't have experience compiling kernels, I did but it didn't boot. I'll try with that kernell .deb that it works in my debian system and I'll give you feedback.... thank you so much for your effort and amazing work
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    Ok, we will find a way, I think is possible and yesterday I tried, but unsuccessfull... Thank you for feeback, have a nice day
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 well, with very great satisfaction I can say who we can replicate jessie version with eggs. It was a long history, but at last not so muh difficult if we know the way. After tried to compile the kernel I discovere the backported kernel from Debian and was possible to use kernel 4.x.xx-bpo-amd64 Note bpo is for backported. After this we solve the first problem, with it we have overlayds and it is possible to produce the iso. When we try to boot the iso, we have another problem. live-boot for jessie create an initrd image with aufs and we have overlayfs... I tryed to study that change but at last I just download live-boot_20170112_all.deb live-boot-initramfs-tools_20170112_all.deb from stretch and solve also this question. At this point we had possibility to create and to boot, but not again to install jessie becouse an icompatibility of eggs with the library of wggs. This require to create eggs directly from jessie and at this point, finally, we meet the poit: jessie became reproductive!!! :-) I just put the resulting image on sourceforge, if you must to try with another jessie machine, you can follow the same steps and add this version of eggs for jessie.

    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 At last I went back to the kernel you suggest me from ubuntu 3.19.0-992 I, it look to work better than the kernel 4.x.x-bpo. I can't say all work perfectly - I runned jessie allways in VMs, but reproduction and installation go quite well and the distro look stable. I think you can try it on your system.
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Wow! I can't wait to try... I'll try with that kernel and well see, thanks so much for your effort and your Amazing tool
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    Great! :-)
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    I have tried and it works!!! Thank you so much. The process was easy now:
    1. Install kernel 3.19 2. Install the 3 packets from stretch debian 3. Eggs produce
    Now findind the way to don't lose the desktop background, task bar settings, you know, the user settings...thanks
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    You must put the configurations files in /etc/skel run eggs tools:skel works enought well with cinnamon, lxqt, mate and xfce. Of you find defects se can try to adjust It. The command skel Is simple, Just Copy configurazione files from .config, .local in etc/skel the list of files Is on the source.
    aosucas499
    @aosucas499
    Great! I was copying file from /etc/skel but I didn't realize about that command...you think in everything, thank you
    Piero Proietti
    @pieroproietti
    @aosucas499 Good morning, It was an idea from Fragadelic the original remastersys author, I toke the idea and also a bit of the code from there. but with the command skel the problem is who we have gnome2, mate. xfce4, lxde, gnome3, connamon, kde5, kde3, lxqt and probably others and it is difficult to think to all the cases. One way can be if the varius organization take cure to bring a list of files to save in skel, other this there are other modifications from the customers if not the final users. Anyway if you decide for an desktop manager and see that sime file cinfiguration lack, you can make and issue and I will put it. Here there is an example in bash you can use https://github.com/mutse/remastersys/blob/master/remastersys/src/remastersys-skelcopy
