Marcus Tisäter
@marcustisater
back to table ;)
anyway, thanks for the wip
I'll try work from it
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing

I set the height so there was a height. The height would be based on the content w/o it and since it was a mockup there was no content. :)

The last two being centered? …you could have something that might count the children and if they aren’t a multiple of 3 then it would add margin-left to the second to last element? …or the last element if there was just one in the bottom row?

…it depends on if it’s a one-off grid or something that would be dynamic. (marketing site or app?)

Marcus Tisäter
@marcustisater
No, it's not going to be dynamic
so yeah maybe I could count it in CSS
Whoops, I meant it's going to be dynamic. Editors of the website can add rows so I would never know if there would be 4 or 5 children
argh
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
I could play on it some more but you if you need IE9 I’d say do some JS magic…it would probably self document better and IE 11 might like it better than doing masive CSS magic.

@marcustisater

Working on some syntax and would love some community feedback. lost-local-gutter or lost-declaration-gutter? (Or another idea entirely!)

@kbytin
lost-gutter-local (--local) is BEM approach and easier to remember
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
Hmm. I like that approach! Thanks for the insight!
Cory Simmons
@corysimmons
Why not just lost-gutter? If they're using it globally it'd be @lost-gutter, if they're using it locally, it'd be lost-gutter:?
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
Hmm. I feel like that wouldn't be enough differentiation but it's worth a ponder.

LostGrid v8 is getting ready to go but I have some time before release on the 31st so what should I add to the release?
Cory Simmons
@corysimmons
Hm. I'm not sure. Any issues in mind already?
peterramsing/lost#344 looks interesting
Were you ever able to break Lost's size calculator out to its own function?
Like width: lost-size(1/4); or something?
I think that'd be pretty nice and might solve #344
(as well as others)
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
I was just going to keep chipping away at the slated point releases and bring those into the 8.0 release but pulling from the backlog is also acceptable. What the community wants is what I want. :smile:

Julio Canares
@juliocanares_twitter
is there support for less?
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
@juliocanares_twitter Yes, LostGrid works with any pre-processed CSS.
Julio Canares
@juliocanares_twitter
I couldnt get it working, where can I read how to implement in less?
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
Your less should be transpiled to vanilla CSS before having LostGrid transpile it. My guess is you have your PostCSS build task before your less task in your task runner. I'm in an airport right now but if I get a moment to sit I'll link you to some stuff.
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
@juliocanares_twitter Were you able to get this or would you still like me to get you an example? I am working on adding install/workflow examples and instructions to the docs sites soon but let me know if you need anything specifically for your setup.

@peterramsing Great changes in 8. Good work. I'm so happy with what you've done with Lost. Happy New Year man. =)

@corysimmons Thanks! …and thank you for letting me maintain the project!
Eugene Strukov

Hello there.
Is it possible to move lost cycle on 1 or n items?
smth like lost-colum: 1/3 (3+n) or (3+xn)
The thing is I have grid of several items but on tablets I need to hide first item and that breaks the whole grid logic
Peter Ramsing
@peterramsing
Hmm.
You can adjust the cycle, yes; but off the top of my head I don’t know if that solves your situation. I can double check in a bit via codepen.
Eugene Strukov
@eugene_strukov_twitter
That's a bit different thing. I'll try to explain in codepen.
Eugene Strukov
@eugene_strukov_twitter
Eugene Strukov
@eugene_strukov_twitter
I just hid the first element
Cory Simmons
@corysimmons
@eugene_strukov_twitter Try masonry grid
"Masonry" grids are more flexible at the cost of a wrapping element.
I also noticed you're using Stylus still. The Stylus version of Lost hasn't been worked on for a million years so I don't even know if it has masonry support.
If postcss is too confusing though, Jeet is another grid system I made with a very similar syntax.
