how is initial replication setup handled? What if I install the master and make db's first? How does the slave know what the master position is?
Phil Cohen
@phlipper
@acqant you’ll want to make sure to look at the node["percona"]["server"]["replication”] settings, and possibly node["percona"]["server"]["role”]. The master can exist first, as mysql replication is asynchronous. Take a look at the mysql replication docs for more info on that. I hope that helps. feel free to ask more questions if needed

I have it working but I didn't know what logic the slave used for putting master position and master logfile in.

I get this warning message

and then Unable to load password for root, mysql,fall back to non-encrypted password
however data_bag "passwords" exists with items mysql and system
