    Can anyone tell which editor i need to use if I want contribute for documentation for phpmyadmin?
    Kartik Kathuria
    @kartik1000
    @keshakaneria. You can ask on lobby channel. I have not contributed to documentation at all so I don't know much. Except the common editors.
    Isaac Bennetch
    @ibennetch
    There is no specific editor requirement. People have used Emacs/Vim/Nano, PhpStorm, VisualStudio, and many others. Probably you would prefer and editor with good PHP syntax support and the ability to manage classes and variables across multiple files, although by counterpoint I often use Vim without any of those.

    Hello, I am Shailesh Jain.
    I am a student and want to contribute to phpmyadmin community
    And new to open source
    Can anyone guide me to get started with contribution
    Isaac Bennetch
    @ibennetch
    Hello Shailesh Jain, welcome here.
    Contributions can take many forms, from using the translation server on Weblate to help translate phpMyAdmin, to looking through the bug tracker to help reproduce bugs, or of course contributing code. To contribute code, most likely you'll want to find an issue (a bug or feature request) in the tracker that catches your attention. After you do that, you may wish to announce your plan as a comment there (that way we can help make you aware of any potential issues and verify that it's worth spending your time on).
    You'll want to fork our repository on GitHub, which creates a copy of it under your account, then you can clone that locally. You'll perform your work on your local repository, commit it and push it to your GitHub repository, then open a pull request which is how you'll submit the work to the phpMyAdmin repository.
    The GitHub documentation is outstanding and helps you through a lot of these concepts if you're new to Git, GitHub, or pull requests.
    Also, https://www.phpmyadmin.net/develop/ is meant as a starting place as well.

    Okay thank you!

    Hello, everyone, I am Vivek Kumar, an undergraduate student from India, I am a full stack developer primarily in PHP and Nodejs stack. I run a youtube channel too named "techievivek", I have made tutorials and projects(CMS) using PHP, Materialize CSS,
    MySql. I am looking forward to giving to the community, I am exploring open-source and would love to work with PHPMyAdmin because this is where I started.
    can we add the webrtc feature with Mozilla's togetherjs for the collaborative development?
    Kartik Kathuria
    @kartik1000
    Hey Vivek, Welcome here! I am not sure about the webrtc feature if its required at all. @ibennetch will let you know about that in some time. Till then you can look at other issues and enhancements :)
    Techie Vivek
    @techievivek
    Thank you Kartik for your guidance, I have forked and cloned the phpmyadmin and error-reporting-server repo, I am going through the issues raised and will be trying my best to contribute.

    @mauriciofauth
    Hi, @techievivek. If you want to discuss about a new feature, the best way is to open an issue on GitHub describing the feature.
    Techie Vivek
    @techievivek
    Thank you @mauriciofauth for guidance, will do that for sure.

    hi, I am 3yr student BTech (computer science) and a web developer worked ( also with PhpMyAdmin and CodeIgniter framework). I want to contribute to open source. I have cloned PhpMyAdmin project and installed yarn and composer but I am still struggling to run the project locally.
    Kartik Kathuria
    @kartik1000
    Hey, Anirudh Welcome to phpMyadmin community! What is the error that you are still facing?
    20anirudh
    @20anirudh
    I have successfully run locally phpmyadmin by downloading composer n yarn install n successfully logged in it ...now how should i contribute? ....how will i understand file structure ?... Any other suggestions for me ?
    Isaac Bennetch
    @ibennetch
    @techievivek What advantages do you see to using webrtc and how would you envision we incorporate it in to our workflow?
    @20anirudh The best way is to find an issue in the issue tracker that appeals to you and begin to work backwards from the code that you know it touches.
    There are many classes and libraries that can be involved depending on the section you wish to work on, but it's very difficult to get up to speed on the entire code base when you're getting started.

    Hi, Myself Abhishek Naidu 2nd Year Student, I want to contribute to open source. So far, I have cloned the PhpMyAdmin project and installed yarn and composer but I'm not able to run the project locally. what to do now??
    Isaac Bennetch
    @ibennetch
    Hi @abhisheknaiidu and welcome. You normally would run phpMyAdmin through your web server and PHP interpreter, so generally you'd put the project files in your web root (for me that's /var/www/html/phpmyadmin/ and then load it through your web browser, such as http://localhost/phpmyadmin.

    Where can I find the code for the above structure?
    Abdullahi Abdulkabir
    @AbdullahiAbdulkabir
    When you make changes to say for instance the case? Am I meant to run anything to make it take effect? Because I was trying to solve a CSS issue it turns out I just added the code and no effect
    Isaac Bennetch
    @ibennetch
    Abdullahi, if you’re making changes to the CSS, you might need to trigger a re-compile of the SCSS with the yarn installcommand.
    Abdullahi Abdulkabir
    @AbdullahiAbdulkabir
    Thanks, I figured it out with previous response here.
