I will probably do my own investigation and try to propose a solution with the issue already. If I find a bug in Eto and is fixable, that is
realonepiecefreak
@onepiecefreak3
Alright, I figured it out. After debugging the Delete method for the TextBuffer, it can retrieve the given range properly. However, setting the ranges Text property to null results in the ArgumentNullException. Setting it to string.Empty instead has the desired effect of removing the ranges text without an exception
This seems to be platform dependant code, and I only tested this on WPF, so I don't know if other platforms need fixing for this issue. I will add a PR for it and connect an issue explaining the problem accordingly.

There we go. Hope this can be merged asap. Of course, if the fix does hold up to whatever you may have to test and approve first.

Thanks a ton, @onepiecefreak3. It looks great, thanks for submitting the issue and PR!

Hey @cwensley : anything odd about the tablelayout/scrollable on GTK? I'm seeing some issues here : Win looks like this
and GTK looks like this :
image.png
I don't know why the scrollables aren't triggering to avoid pushing the lower parts of the left side out-of-frame.

When using a platform specific style (wpf) , what would be the simplest way to style the border of a buttonmenuitem? Setting the borderbrush does nothing
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@philstopford not sure, but I do know of some layout differences with GTK as Eto tries to cajole it into doing things differently than it was designed for. If you report an issue with some details how to reproduce that'd be helpful.
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@ausern-error did you set its BorderThickness? It also appears you may need to apply a WPF style to the control instead of setting the properties (which get overridden by the wpf style): https://stackoverflow.com/a/1515262/981187

@philstopford
@cwensley : any news on the theming front for WPF? I had in mind you were considering making 'dark mode' easier to achieve :)
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@philstopford: no news yet on themes for Eto yet, sorry. It is on the list, but there's lots of other stuff that have higher priority.

@philstopford
Eto seems kind of quiet at the moment in the issue tracker and otherwise. Hope all is well.
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@philstopford thanks for checking in! It's been pretty quiet as I'm deep into migrating a large app to .NET 6, including some updates for Eto. 😄

Haven't spent much time working with Eto lately, but this morning I got curious about Windows 11. I cajoled it into installing on an ancient laptop I had lying around, and once I was up and running the first thing I did was try out my project:
Windows11-Arbatel-EtoFormsTest-WholeScreen.png
Didn't have to do anything, and now I've got fancy rounded corners!
Oh, the main form does too when it's not snapped. Forgot to showcase that in the screenshot, but it works.
Not exactly a revelation, to be sure, but little touches like that make me happy and I couldn't resist sharing.
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@ItEndsWithTens that’s awesome! One of the benefits of using UI toolkits native to each platform is they are kept up to date with the OS.
Rob Martens
@ItEndsWithTens
Absolutely! I was ecstatic to see the Windows team hadn't broken anything. At least not that I've found yet. :D

@philstopford
@cwensley : just wondering whether you had time to look at picoe/Eto#2023 (I really hope this isn't user error)....

@daemitus
so ive been fooling around with describing a sequence of commands, something like (bunch_of_different_command_types_or_together).Repeat(0).SeparatedBy(Terminals.Eol). I can match pretty easily the commands themselves, comments, lines with just spaces. but an actual empty line, 2 newlines in a row, is giving some serious trouble. Any ideas?
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@daemitus I can't really think of what to suggest. A more complete example might be needed to know what is going on..
Raymond
@daemitus
I'll get a gist for you in the morning.

do menus really need to be inherited to add items to a menu?
@cwensley
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
huh? no.. why do you think they need to be inherited?
myMenu.Items.Add(someMenuItem) certainly works..
The Eto.Forms project templates creates a project with a full menu without subclassing/inheritance.
Shadowblitz16
@Shadowblitz16
MenuItem is a abstract class
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
Use ButtonMenuItem
or CheckMenuItem, or RadioMenuItem

..or SubMenuItem
ButtonMenuItem works the same as SubMenuItem currently, though SubMenuItem allows you to dynamically populate the child menu when it is needed.

how do I have a evenly sized stack layout that expands to take up as much room as possible horizontally? https://www.toptal.com/developers/hastebin/ligakubana.properties
@cwensley
btw is there a place I can ask questions?
like a discord or something?
I am banned on stack overflow
Curtis Wensley
@cwensley
@Shadowblitz16 Use discussions on github.. https://github.com/picoe/Eto/discussions
Gitter is akin to using discord.. so you're asking questions where you need to.
