@mcrmonkey With allowing 100 posts on the feed the feed got a little slow to load
I’ve tweaked get_feed() to only make a few calls to redis and mongo and just some simple time() functions its an order of magnitude quicker

@psgs hope your still about. We are going to remove the horizonal inputs on the sign in page temporarily. We will try get it back in on the next version. Hope you won’t be too disappointed

We are still using all the styling though :)

@mcrmonkey I've pushed some code out which is the initial work on allowing multiple item types in a list. All lists on the site are now using this

Well moving to Flask 0.11 was interesting. Didn't realize my custom error handler code went to low in to Flasks API. All sorted now though and the site is running the latest.

Hey, I made it! Just ignore me.

@johnnynull
What I mean by that is, I am interested in helping. Also a dummy. That is all.
Joe Doherty
@docapotamus
Hey Johnny. Awesome news 😃
Joe Doherty
@docapotamus
Is there anything you would like to do in particular?
Johnny Null
@johnnynull
No, not really. I mean, helping with code would be shiny, but I've only done some python lessons in Code Academy (or similar) at least a year ago. I know nothing. I have nonzero graphic abilities, am a decent writer, am willing to try stuff and learn. Probably an unhelpful response, but you're the boss, boss.
<insert time restraint couching here>
Joe Doherty
@docapotamus
Haha :smile: I'm definitely not the boss
Well Python is simple enough so you could definitely learn. We have a lot of checks, tests and coding standards systems in the build so you have to do something incredibly wrong to break it :)
Writing is an amazing skill to have. I am terrible at English.
Feel free to have a look through the wording on the site if you want
we need to re-write the privacy, about and terms pages in the coming weeks. 1 to make them look better and 1 to make the wording correct
I can show you how to use Git and Github if you want so you submit changes
Johnny Null
@johnnynull
"Boss" meaning 1) It's your baby :baby: and 2) Historically I've walked into a business that I know nothing about and learned whatever was needed. Leads to no particular mastery, but being able to wear many hats holds its own value. But I appreciate the response, and the tone in which it was offered. :wink:
I will absolutely move forward with python :snake: I'll see where I left off in Codeacademy and see what other learnin' stuffs I can find :book: . I would be most thankful for the opportunity to help and guidance. :school:
Absolutely, I will start writing some stuff this week (having revisited the pages again). I toyed with git for versioning on a story I was working on years ago, so I think I can handle the basics. Let's see how far I can get and send up smoke signals when I crash & burn. :fire: :wink2:

Also, I'm clearly going to abuse the :smiley: s. Lemme know if it becomes annoying.

@docapotamus
Awesome!!!!! Python is great
These are also some good resources:

Excellent all around! Thanks! :guitar:
For my own curiosity if nothing else, the assembled are aware of GnuSocial, no?
Joe Doherty
@docapotamus
Yes most users are. A few have come from there and Diaspora I beleive
Johnny Null
@johnnynull
Yes, I've seen several names from GS. I was just curious.

So... I was starting to re-write the About Us page, and I realized there should be discussion of additions, omissions, corrections, and so on. How is this normally done?
ant Kenworthy
@mcrmonkey
you mean like code changes and that ?
There is a "contributions" bit in the readme.md file in GH
but we could probably do a bit to expand this a little maybe
Johnny Null
@johnnynull
No, I'm still early in "Learn Python the Hard Way'. :wink:
I mean, the actual text in the About Us. It was my understanding that, the ToS, and the Privacy Policy had to be updated and made all purty for the readin's. I thought I could take that on.
ant Kenworthy
@mcrmonkey

cool
well contributions is something that needs to go in there i think
its kind of hinted at throughout the various things that make up pjuu but nothing definite is actually written down for it. Specifically i think there may need to be a bit more structure on it. for example: "there should be an issue for each pull req" or something to that effect

the other stuff could do with a good read over for sure.

Joe Doherty
@docapotamus
@johnnynull We can just discuss those things here or on a GH issue
Johnny Null
@johnnynull
Copy that. :thumbsup:

@docapotamus
@mcrmonkey pjuu/pjuu#275 Postgres move is locked in as an issue now.
