I'm writing a flogo library that starts up a UDP server, which will be used for both trigger and activities. The challenge is that this is intended to be a shared service, so is there a mechanism in Flogo that allows an existing handle to be passed to another activity?
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco
Yes. You can use something which is called connections. You edit the UDP trigger to accept connections; you define that in the app.json and access that in any of the activity. Eg. https://github.com/project-flogo/datastore-contrib/tree/master/mongodb . https://github.com/skothari-tibco/samplekafkaconn .

@skothari-tibco Thanks.

What is the advice, should we be using github.com/TIBCOSoftware/flogo-lib/core/ or github.com/project-flogo/core?

@dcsouthwick
enterprise project being visible/same name is very confusing
I'm testing my package install with the CLI and it seems to have some caching behavior that go clean -cache -gocache -i -r doesnt catch.. how to I get it to clean retry installing?
Matt Ellis
@mellistibco
The TIBCOSoftware/Flogo-* is there for anyone who is using that older version. It’s not the enterprise version. Also I think the readme indicates that that version is deprecated... go cache would only apply if it was using the same repo name. Go ahead and just delete $GOPATH/bin/flogo and then do a go get -u GitHub.com/project-Flogo/CLI/... (note sending from my phone in a taxi so that exact cmd may be different)

An updated on the GUI issue I had, doing 'yarn upgrade' will break flogo-web. Can someone confirm ?

would someone be able to give my contrib attempt a test? I'm catching some weird install error and I'm not sure whats causing it: https://github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/tree/master/functions/time
it seems to be pulling old commits... and I'm not sure why:
go: github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/functions/time@v0.0.0-20200129151911-85507ad685df: parsing go.mod:
    module declares its path as: github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/function/timestamp
            but was required as: github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/functions/time
wkarasz
@wkarasz
@mellistibco Thanks. I had a concern about why my trigger was being installed as a legacy-trigger
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco

@dcsouthwick

flogo install github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/functions/time
Installed function: github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/functions/time

What’s the issue again?

David Southwick
@dcsouthwick
hmm.. well if it works for you then no issue :D
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco
@wkarasz you’ll need to edit out descriptor.json . Particulary remove “ref” from it.
@dcsouthwick may be you can clear out previous contributions.
David Southwick
@dcsouthwick
for some reason its not pulling the latest... perhaps related to project-flogo/cli#107
but flogo install github.com/dcsouthwick/flogo-components/functions/time@1411020c5cb99083ef893ec8813383efda761b2d works just fine
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco
I think this https://github.com/project-flogo/cli/issues/93 might be.
David Southwick
@dcsouthwick
huh. You are right!
what a bizarre default behaviour
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco
Yes, it is.

An updated on the GUI issue I had, doing 'yarn upgrade' will break flogo-web. Can someone confirm ?

@philippe-lavoie can you let us know your yarn version?

philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
@apandurangi 1.16.0
I checked on a different machine which has 1.21.1 and I get the same result
Anand Pandurangi
@apandura-tibco
okay. let me check from my side and confirm you. I generally do a yarn install and use the versions maintained in yarn.lock
Anand Pandurangi
@apandura-tibco
Seems nrwl is updating to 8.12 from 8.4. not sure flogo-web code is compatible with that change
philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
What is nrwl ?
Anand Pandurangi
@apandura-tibco
it is a node dependency we are using to control our monorepos in flogo-web code
May I ask the need for you to do yarn upgrade?
philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
each time I do 'yarn start' , the first line that shows up is ``Browserslist: caniuse-lite is outdated. Please run next commandyarn upgrade````
I was obeying the command! :)
Anand Pandurangi
@apandura-tibco
ha ha.. I am not sure where we are using that dependency. I think @fcastill has updated the dependency list recently
Ignore it, I also am getting that info message
philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
packages.json is still linking to nrwl/8.4.12
(just did a pull)
Anand Pandurangi
@apandura-tibco
yes. thought caniuse-lite was part of the dependency list in package.json. It seems it is not. I am not sure which among the ones we are currently using has an internal dependency of caniuse-lite
Fabián Castillo
@fcastill
yarn install should suffice, no need for yarn upgrade. cainnuse-lite is a dependency of a dependency. It is safe to ignore the warning for now.
philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
indeed, not doing an upgrade works. However, I think that 'in theory', a package should still work after an upgrade, no ?
Fabián Castillo
@fcastill
in theory yes, but it also depends on how strict a third party package is when following semantic versioning, sometimes they do introduce breaking changes
philippe-lavoie
@philippe-lavoie
I was more worried about nrwl/nx being at 8.12 rigth now, Anand's comment kind of implied that moving flogo to that version was not supported. Relying on a given number is definitly ok, but from experience when we lag too much, the technical debt can become a big pain later on.
I also totaly agree with you, semantic versioning is there for a reason, they should have moved to 9.0 at some point.
Fabián Castillo
@fcastill
I agree about the the technical debt, we usually upgrade our “big” deps (nrwl/nx, angular, tooling) at the beginning of a new dev cycle, that makes it easier for us to check everything’s stable during that cycle. And since we just finished with v0.10.0 we should be updating our deps very soon.

Hi peeps, can anyone create a commit in the tibco-contrib folder so I can fork it and create a PR 😇

just did :)

Mark Mussett
@mmussett
I’ve got many activities on showcase that are being flagged as legacy. What do I need to do to refactor, is this documented anywhere?
Samip Kothari
@skothari-tibco
There’s no document which specifies steps for refactoring legacy activities to new one. But I usually follow this example activity https://github.com/project-flogo/core/tree/master/examples/activity .
