Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
Hello there, this support channel is for the Oraclize integration with the R3 Corda platform!
Marco Walz
@marc0olo
Hello, any Admin here?
I have a general question about using oraclize functions and flows within cordapps
Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
Hello @marc0olo, welcome! Please feel free to ask, I would be happy to help
Marco Walz
@marc0olo

My main question is whether a private network of Corda nodes can run their own Oraclize node. I see that you have provided specific flows to query data and to proof answers.

But curently I don't 100% know whether I would be dependent on Oraclize when I want to use these flows or whether each network can setup its own Oraclize node

my guess is that each network can make use of the functionality and run an own oracle node, but I am not sure about that
Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
What version of Corda are you using? Our integration is currently live with the Corda 2 public testnet. Technically, if you have a private network, you would need to have us to run a node there.
Marco Walz
@marc0olo
ok so it's always a node of Orcalize acting as Oracle
didn't get that in the docs
Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
this is not necessarily true as in the future we can enable, if there is enough demand for that, to have the integration running with no need for us to run a node there (via a tool called "Stargate"), but this is currently not implemented on Corda (we have it working on private Ethereum networks for instance)
Marco Walz
@marc0olo
ok, sounds good. so currently we would need to connect to the testnet in order to be able to use Oraclize right? Is https://testnet.corda.network the right Testnet?
do you have any source to read more about "Stargate" ?
Marco Walz
@marc0olo
another question about pricing -> will using Oraclize in Corda be free or will you charge a fee?
Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
Yes @marc0olo, that one is the only public testnet which is currently running (and the one where Oraclize is integrated) . Stargate is in private-beta, if you are interested to test it on Ethereum please send us an email to mailto:info@oraclize.it - we would be happy to have you testing it
as for the pricing on Corda, it is free to use on the testnet, but once in production you should expect the normal pricing to apply: http://docs.oraclize.it/#pricing
Marco Walz
@marc0olo
thanks for answering :-) when do you expect Stargate to be released public?
Oraclize Support
@oraclize-support
@marc0olo we are currently receiving feedbacks from private beta testers, we expect its Ethereum version to go public in ~ 1-2 months
