TODO: Implement a feature in the gitone package that sets up git locally and connects a local repo with GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket. This JavaScript blog post describes a tool called ginit. I am sure we can come up with a better name and a simpler implementation in Python 😃We can also look to PyScaffold for inspiration.

I see familiar faces here hehehe
ciao Andrea
I know Java but nothing about JavaScript
btw when I click into the link "JavaScript blog post" no webpage is open :/

Hi @cyberosa, sorry about the broken link in the post above. Here's my 2nd attempt to link to the JavaScript blog post that describes a tool called ginit. There is also a repo to go along with the blog post.
The most important source of information is the GitPython documentation. Every gitone function and command uses GitPython.

@marskar
We should detect what platform users are on and then configure git for them if it is not already configured and save/cache their github credentials. If we cannot find the appropriate functionality in GitPython, we can run system commands with subprocess.run().

@cyberosa
so how do you plan to coordinate the collaboration on this project? Should we create small tasks and publish them somewhere? Have hangouts from time to time?
Martin Skarzynski
@marskar
Great suggestion! I added you as a collaborator to the gitone repo and created a project. We can create small tasks and track their completion in the project. If you want, you can schedule a time to chat with me via google hangout :point_up: July 8, 2019 1:34 PM

I will start reading the GitPython docs. However this month I will be away for two weeks (holidays and work) so I might face some delay with the reading...
And btw our start point should be "init_git" same as here -> https://pyscaffold.org/en/latest/_modules/pyscaffold/api.html#init_git?

Ok, sounds good @cyberosa, enjoy your travels! Let me know when you get back!
