Hi all!
I'm back to work on the bytes() implementation, making progress.

@freakboy3742 Yeah, I'm trying to read it. Haven't found any such defined behavior till now as such.
@swenson Yeah, that's possible. This seems like a bug(or feature, maybe?) in Python 3+.
Python 2.7 prints -5j.

I already have bytes() initialisating correctly from an int. Next up, make __str__ work as it should.
Are there any other batavians in Melbourne?

Hey everyone! Me and @SrishtiSengupta are holding an Intro To Open Source workshop from 9-12 PM IST tomorrow. i.e. 9PM 6th Oct - 12 AM 7th Oct IST. We'll be helping out students to create patches for VOC primarily (since we've been associated with it for the past 3 months). We'll also be introducing Toga and Batavia too. If anyone is available at that time, we'd appreciate it if you could stay online, maybe answers questions(if any) on gitter, review the PRs. We're not really sure what the footfall might be, but fingers crossed!
Oh! Also, it will be a major help if anyone could label the issues for first-timers. I saw some labels in batavia. And of course, VOC.

@soummyaah Just checking times there - is that 9PM IST, or 9AM IST tomorrow?
As for issues for first timers - there’s still plenty to be done with basic type operators, builtins, and pieces of the standard library. Someone is working on Bytes for VOC, and someone is working on the time library in Batavia; but otherwise, if it isn’t implemented, it’s fair game.
There are a couple of other tickets labelled “first timers”; they’re also good candidates. But the “original 3” of types, builtins and standard library will be fertile ground for contributions for some time to come.

Ah! I thought so. We have a lot of holidays coming up, so couldn't really find any other slot available to hold the session.

Definitely too late for @glasnt as well. But @phildini and @swenson might be around.
No worries - I know how hard cross-timezone scheduling can be :-)

do all tests pass right now, or should they? I have 21 failing right now, and haven't started working on anything yet.

@williln If you’re on Batavia, the tests shoudl all pass; are the tests failures all similar?

there are two flakey tests in Batavia at the moment. :) I have a PR for one of them, and the other one is fixed in another PR I am prepping.
