It should be fine to comment out postgres and use RDS instead, but just need to make sure that the ./.envs/.production/.postgres has the right credentials for the RDS database, as that's where Celery will get them from. That might not be the problem, but given what you show us, that's the first thing that comes to mind...

We might be able to assist further if you show us the logs of the Celery containers:

docker-compose -f production.yml logs celerybeat

@browniebroke .postgres for Celery Thank you very much!
Yes you are right. First project I did change both .django and .postgres
Second one I forgot .postgres Nahhhh late night effect

@browniebroke How do I know that my connection between Django and Postgres is encrypted in my production.yml?
Suppose I am using RDS. I come up with this question because AWS make call to me today afternoon and I don't the answer, but I guess it is handled by psycopy already
I have check on my OSX with dbshell it clams that it is SSL

t$ python manage.py dbshell --settings=config.settings.local
psql (10.11, server 11.2)
WARNING: psql major version 10, server major version 11.
         Some psql features might not work.
SSL connection (protocol: TLSv1.2, cipher: ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384, bits: 256, compression: off)
Type "help" for help.

However on the Production my Django container does not has psql so I can't execute dbshell
Therefore my question is "How can I know connection between Django and Postgres encrypted?"

Hi All, I am getting this error in my project where I am using docker. In local there is no issue, but when I run production.yml, then it asks for storage module missing on accessing the application. I setup this project using whitenoise and no aws for media. Any idea why this is happening?

I have a question

set -o errexit
set -o pipefail
set -o nounset

python /app/manage.py collectstatic --noinput
/usr/local/bin/gunicorn config.wsgi --bind 0.0.0.0:5000 --chdir=/app
Why production start script does not include migrate line?
#!/bin/sh

set -o errexit
set -o pipefail
set -o nounset

python manage.py migrate
python manage.py runserver_plus 0.0.0.0:8000
local start has migrate. What is the reason behind this?
elohim
@daHIFI_gitlab
@tejasa97 yes, its in the allauth app
@ShambuP_twitter there's an open issue about this. Search the issue log for 'storage'.
^^ my question about having to swap the manage.py: os.environ.setdefault("DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", "config.settings.local") between local and production

Hey, how to restore (or rather load initial data) Postgres database backup .sql file that is in my host system using Docker config from django-cookiecutter? Where to copy file and what commend run? Does anyone try to achieve that? Thanks

Hi, I was able to bring my stack up with the production.yml and I can access my site, but I can't access flower over port 5555. I was able to ping the server on port IP_ADDRESS: 5555 and it was successful but when I try to access with domain.com:5555, it doesn't load. I haven't made any changes to the configs apart from using postgres outside docker (I have supplied proper details for connection and it is working). Has anyone had this issue?
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
It worked. I was proxying through cloudflare and disabling it worked.

Hello All, I just thinking to setup postgresql with high availability configuration defaultly with cookiecutter django. is there anyone had to do this before?? How should I do to implement this?
We all know when in production the database must live forever. So.. i think it is really important to have postgresql with HA configuration default stick it to the django cookiecutter. What do you think guys?

I started using Docker, opened a shell into the container and ran python manage.py createsuperuser as per the readme, but it gave an error - django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: Set the DATABASE_URL environment variable. Is there something I'm missing?
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
is this local setup or production compose?
Ghost
@ghost~5e5bdb6ed73408ce4fdb3968
Sorry, this is local setup.
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
In the .postgres env file, have you set all the details? It should not ask this but can you try to set DATABASE_URL=postgres://user:pw@127.0.0.1:5432/db_name
Ghost
@ghost~5e5bdb6ed73408ce4fdb3968
The env file is setup but I will try the URL. Thanks
That worked thanks. I suppose this is a bug?
Ah, the admin user still has to validate their email address.
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
probably. In the production compose folder, the entrypoint script has logic to set the database_url. I don't see it in local. But I have just started using this template, so I have not gone through all the structure.

hi. I just ran the package generator, cookiecutter https://github.com/bruecksen/cookiecutter-django-wagtail, and there was no option to use docker (many other options were missing). is docker not supported?
