Hey, how to restore (or rather load initial data) Postgres database backup .sql file that is in my host system using Docker config from django-cookiecutter? Where to copy file and what commend run? Does anyone try to achieve that? Thanks

Hi, I was able to bring my stack up with the production.yml and I can access my site, but I can't access flower over port 5555. I was able to ping the server on port IP_ADDRESS: 5555 and it was successful but when I try to access with domain.com:5555, it doesn't load. I haven't made any changes to the configs apart from using postgres outside docker (I have supplied proper details for connection and it is working). Has anyone had this issue?

@AkashV10
It worked. I was proxying through cloudflare and disabling it worked.

Hello All, I just thinking to setup postgresql with high availability configuration defaultly with cookiecutter django. is there anyone had to do this before?? How should I do to implement this?
We all know when in production the database must live forever. So.. i think it is really important to have postgresql with HA configuration default stick it to the django cookiecutter. What do you think guys?

I started using Docker, opened a shell into the container and ran python manage.py createsuperuser as per the readme, but it gave an error - django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: Set the DATABASE_URL environment variable. Is there something I'm missing?
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
is this local setup or production compose?
Ghost
@ghost~5e5bdb6ed73408ce4fdb3968
Sorry, this is local setup.
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
In the .postgres env file, have you set all the details? It should not ask this but can you try to set DATABASE_URL=postgres://user:pw@127.0.0.1:5432/db_name
Ghost
@ghost~5e5bdb6ed73408ce4fdb3968
The env file is setup but I will try the URL. Thanks
That worked thanks. I suppose this is a bug?
Ah, the admin user still has to validate their email address.
Akash Vibhute
@AkashV10
probably. In the production compose folder, the entrypoint script has logic to set the database_url. I don't see it in local. But I have just started using this template, so I have not gone through all the structure.

hi. I just ran the package generator, cookiecutter https://github.com/bruecksen/cookiecutter-django-wagtail, and there was no option to use docker (many other options were missing). is docker not supported?

@CarrieGardner42_twitter can you open a issue on that repository? It's different from this one.
@leycor have you set your domain name properly? you can check it in the traefik.yml file

It should be already active. Did you set the DJANGO_ADMIN_URL env variable?

Hello, I was following the guide for local develop with docker but I'm having issues with celery.
I have created a new backend app and I moved it at the same level of the users one.
The application is working properly, but celery docker are failing with
django.core.exception.ImproperlyConfigured: Cannot import 'backend'. Check that 'main.backend.apps.BackendConfig.name' is correct

a six-month old production install of cookiecutter-django as of today has a celerybeat that fails with my_project_celerybeat_1 exited with code 73
ERROR: Pidfile (celerybeat.pid) already exists.
Any suggestions on how to debug?
I've removed the pidfile, removed the schedulefile, removed tasks from the django_db....

temporarily, I've exec'd into the celery container, manually set the various environment variables and manually started celerybeat.

Greetings, all! I'm trying to set up a new project on windows using gulp and docker.

Currently I have celery and gulp (at the end I'll put the settings when I run "cookiecutter https://github.com/pydanny/cookiecutter-django") and the live reload doesn't work.

Initially I used webpack and it worked on ubuntu 20.04 OS, but it doesn't work on Windows. What do you suggest I should do?

Below are my settings:

use_whitenoise: no
use_celery: yes
use_mailhog: no
use_sentry: no
use_pycharm: no
windows: no
use_docker: yes
use_heroku: no
use_compressor: no
postgresql_version: 11.3
js_task_runner: Gulp
cloud_provider: AWS
custom_bootstrap_compilation: no
open_source_license: MIT
keep_local_envs_in_vcs: no
debug: no

hi all, I have a question about using heroku CI. This probably isnt cookiecutter-django specifc but perhaps someone can help:

My app (built using cookiecutter-django) runs locally and in prod, and I can run tests locally, using pytest and DDF, but on heroku CI I get the following error:

E   KeyError: PosixPath('/app/.heroku/python/lib/python3.8/site-packages/django_dynamic_fixture/tests/conftest.py')

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:
...
RuntimeError: Model class django_dynamic_fixture.models_sample_app.Publisher doesn't declare an explicit app_label and isn't in an application in INSTALLED_APPS.

I'm familiar with this error and understand about relative and absolute imports, and using them consistently. This error is coming from django_dynamic_fixture though, not my app. I don't get this error locally, only on heroku CI.

Any ideas?

Hi Danny, what an amazing project you made. I cannot believe how much time I saved with cookiecutter-django, all works so smoothly out of the box.
Just a question; I am unable to log into Postgres - I don't have the credentials. In my .envs/.local/.postgres file I see the default (debug) credentials, but those don't work. Anybody any idea?
Omar Khashoggi
@OmarWKH
@wspek_gitlab I login with psql like this:
1- Make sure postgres is already up in another terminal: docker-compose -f .\local.yml up postgres
2- Start docker-compose -f .\local.yml run --rm postgres psql -h $POSTGRES_HOST -U $POSTGRES_USER $POSTGRES_DB. Substitute the $ variables from .envs/.local/.postgres

ok, just had a very weird production issue that with django-cookiecutter in docker installed on Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS on an AWS EC2 instance. When accessing a DRF created API I receive the error (Couldn't load 'Argon2PasswordHasher' algorithm library: No module named 'argon2._ffi'). I've logged into various containers and confirmed via pip that Argon2 is indeed installed. This just seemed to "Happen" over the weekend. Any suggestions ?

how do you increase the max timeout on requests? I think that would be an nginx thing.
@johnmathews_twitter have you tried running your test suite locally but using the production config?
@fluid217 are you using a nonstandard password algorithm?
fluid217
@fluid217
@morenoh149 , no , stock standard install. I had an issue where I ran out of disk space and I think this has corrupted the container. I've since rebuilt and the issue has gone away.

Hello everybody! I have been stuck for two full days on this now. I am trying to deploy my docker project to digitalocean but is not working, I just get a 404 in the browser. Localy everything works fine, I don't think there are any problems deploying neither but still something is not quiet right because of the 404
I tried several things, somehting I thaught could be the cause was trafic not getting to the port on wich the nginx server is running internally
so I tried adding a link with iptables but still
error perceeds
