This is the production start file for django
I din't modify the defaults etc I added the required env vairables as well
Is this something I must do in order to make it work?

@sebastianvdn what is your issue?
I can't seem to get my celery task to update, I change the source code but its still doing what it used to do. How do you update a celery task if its already running?
Sebastian Van Den Noortgaete
@sebastianvdn
Is a docker project with django-cookiecutter supopes to work out of the box when deploying on digitalocean with the production.yml? Suposed to the official docs and some tutorials I followed it should be but it's not working
Is there some aditional configuration that I must do?
Harry Moreno
@morenoh149
@sebastianvdn probably yes, the cookiecutter is not gauranteed to work on do
Sebastian Van Den Noortgaete
@sebastianvdn
Oke so actualy it uses traefik and not nginx it probably used to use nginx but not any more
Idk why all the recources still mention nginx
Harry Moreno
@morenoh149
@sebastianvdn django-cookiecutter has traefik and nginx. Try making a fresh install to see what that looks like.
Sebastian Van Den Noortgaete
@sebastianvdn
Got it to work eventualy, it were my dns settings that were failing

I have been struck on this error for sometimes.

/entrypoint: line 10: REDIS_URL: unbound variable

I get this error whenever I use the elastic beanstalk command eb local run to run the app.

Please, any help will be appreciated

Harry Moreno
@morenoh149
@andela-Taiwo the cookiecutter doesn't support eb ootb. You may have to ask aws.
SOKUNBI TAIWO
@andela-Taiwo
@morenoh149 Thanks . I eventually switched to EC2

Hey there. First of all thank you for this great boilerplate. That being said I just have a quick question regarding using a firewall in production with cookiecutter-django with docker and mailgun. Will the standard all outgoing allowed and port 80 and port 443 for incoming work for me? I'm not handling anything too sensitive like health or financial data and just want my landing page to work without issues. If anyone can help that would be great. Thank you!

@beasyx0
I created a 'cloud firewall' on digital ocean and allowed HTTP, HTTPS and SSH. I hope it works, I'm just going to push it live and see what's up.

It should work fine, just make sure that your dns settings for the domain are setup correctly and point to the server where you host your project.

Figured it out - you can specify the branch name cookiecutter https://github.com/pydanny/cookiecutter-django --checkout tags/2.2.7

Hello, I'm accustomed configuring a python interpreter on pycharm but I'm using cookiecutter now and I can't seem to make it work properly. I created a docker-compose interpreter pointing it to local.yml but once I ran it nothing it working.
Any ideas how to properly set it up for pycharm with docker?

I think pydanny did something on his twitch channel in regards to this, however, I have not found it, but I'm trying to role tailwind into my dockerized cookiecutter-django app. Does anyone have any success in rolling this out? I'm pretty noobie in the node/npm department, but, would like to start playing around with the tailwind configs :eyes:

I tried https://www.boringbackend.dev/using-tailwindcss-cookiecutter-django/ guide but, haven't been able to implement everything because I don't exactly know how npm works and how to have things point/start properly in the docker-compose. Additionally, I saw some work on https://github.com/dantium/django-docker-tailwind, which does seem promising, but I had already started a project. I'm trying to not reverse engineer too hard (yet), but will if I have to.

Anyone have any thoughts/tips? Thanks in advance!

hey guys, how are you doing? I'm currently trying to deploy the application (only the django service from yml) to AWS, are there some best practices to manage the environment variables? at the moment it's on the .env file that remains in the image and container, so I should be able to use it, right? the problem that I'm facing now is the /entrypoint part, since it uses some environment variables but it looks like the container is not being able to see them

okay, a not-so-nice workaround is executing python merge_production_dotenvs_in_dotenv.py and adding (this)[https://stackoverflow.com/a/30969768/6860919] before the DATABASE_URL env variable creation
