Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
PEBCAK
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
I am not checking twitter regularly, so I missed the announcement of this project :(
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
I'm pretty much off Twitter completely. I use it as write only social media. I make announcements and then don't read any of it. Sometimes I follow up on replies, but not that much.
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
Yes, and I deleted access to Twitter from all of my devices except one.
So that I don't feel angry and sad all the time, and instead focus on work.
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Exactly ;-)
ANNOUNCEMENT: If any of you are interested in participating in PyWeek, I hope to build a sort of a game using PyperCard so the project has a fun example project. Details here: https://pyweek.org/e/missed/ (part of PyWeek 28 happening in October)
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
@ntoll and I moved to Buster, now finally pypercard working for me (after some fight to get the right libs for debian).
I will send in PR for docs :)
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Thank you @kushaldas 👍

@ra67052
This is the coolest thing I've seen in Python so far, I've been looking for a UI that is easy to develop with and I've found. Thanks for creating this and to anyone who contributes to it
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
@ra67052 thank you!
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
@ntoll Good morning
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
:wave:
May the force be with you too, Kushal. :-)
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
@ntoll thank you :)
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Heh... pinged you on Signal.
Far too many chat mechanisms on the internet.
Tim Golden
@tjguk_twitter
Hi both, BTW :)
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
@ntoll do you think this kind of slowly building up different things is a good idea for that chapter?
@tjguk_twitter Good morning to you too
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Hi @tjguk_twitter :-)
Tim Golden
@tjguk_twitter
Up to my eyebrows in election-related data issues so I won't stay here. Just passing through... :)
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
@kushaldas yes. Because it approaches the module in lots of different ways.
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
Ah, good then
I will continue slowly introducing new new thing there :)
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Just note that I need to do a bunch of updates to PyperCard. I don't think what's there will necessarily change, but new stuff (or new ways to do things) may appear.
@tjguk_twitter best of luck with the election issues. FWIW, the election IS a huge issue in and of itself. I guess we'll know how big an issue on Friday morning.
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
no issues in that, I will update the book accordingly
@ntoll about ntoll/pypercard#17
as pip is trying to build from source, it requires many system packages
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Aha... OK. I guess i must already have them installed.
(i.e. missed them)
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
yup
if you have all the dependency, then it is just one command
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Yeah... I guess I need to do a "from clean" install to figure it all out.
And then there's the Debian/Fedora packaging differences.
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
yes
at least 3 distros, debian buster, latest Ubuntu and latest Fedora
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
I always find latest Debian the sticking point because it's very conservative about package updates, so dependencies are often not up to date.
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
yeah
that was the reason I could not test this when you first released
not, I missed the not :(
Nicholas Tollervey
@ntoll
Riiiigt.... so buster is out of date already... :-(
Kushal Das
@kushaldas
actually don't
I should figure out how to get x working with a podman container
